Chapter 14 Laying a Net

She was convinced it was Lin Congzhi; no one else could have such an overbearing and irresistible tone.

"snort!"

Out of spite of Lin Congzhi in the office, she returned to her seat and started working.

That evening, she confided in her best friend Yao Yao about the "strange" things that had happened that day.

Upon learning that someone had sent something to Yi Yi again, and that this person was very likely the demon Lin Congzhi, Yao Yao was shocked and scolded, "I told you it would be him, but you wouldn't believe me; now look what's happened, how are we going to deal with this?"

"We can't be sure it's him yet. Once I find the evidence, I'll ruin his reputation and kick him out of the company."

Jiang Yimei gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing with fury, looking extremely fierce.

The company has explicit rules prohibiting any flirtatious behavior in the office; superiors are also prohibited from having inappropriate thoughts about female subordinates; if caught, the person will be immediately dismissed and never rehired.

Yao Yao didn't take this showy, aggressive behavior to heart at all; on the contrary, she was dismissive: "Yi Yi, don't overestimate yourself. I'm afraid you won't be able to say these things when the time comes."

"Who said that? I'm incredibly bold and selfless." Jiang Yimei continued to put on airs, exuding arrogance.

Yao Yao wanted to roll her eyes.

She might not understand others, but she knew this best friend perfectly from the bottom of her heart.

She's the epitome of a good girl; you can't find a trace of evil in her.

Not wanting to argue or diminish Yi Yi's prestige, she gave a perfunctory reply: "Yes, yes, you're bold, you're selfless, you're heartless!"

Jiang Yimei is not sleepy at all tonight.

She was full of fighting spirit, like a fearless soldier about to go into battle.

"You bastard, how dare you harass me? I'll make you wish you were dead!"

She clenched her little fists, cursed aloud, and then fell asleep with that obsession.

Under the influence of her constant thoughts, she dreamt that she caught Lin Congzhi red-handed and made him slink out of the company in disgrace.

"Hehe! Hehehe! Hahahaha!"

The next day, in a good mood, she arrived at the company early, earlier than all the other employees.

She got the key from the receptionist yesterday, and then she opened the company door lock.

The net has been cast, and all that remains is to wait for the perpetrator to commit the crime.

She stood in the stairwell doorway not far from the entrance, secretly releasing two beams of golden light as she stared intently at the office door.

I waited and waited, more than ten minutes passed, but I still didn't see a single person.

With the morning rush hour approaching, she felt a little lost.

If Lin Congzhi were among this group of people, she would have no way of proving that Lin Congzhi committed the crime.

Just as she was feeling anxious and helpless, an unexpected, cold voice came from the darkness behind her like a ghost.

What are you doing sneaking around here?

"ah!!!"

In an instant, Jiang Yimei, who had been focused on the distant commotion, was terrified and quickly shrank into a corner like a frightened lamb.

The staircases of high-rise buildings are inherently dark and devoid of light; in such a hellish and deathly silent environment, it would be strange if a lifeless sound suddenly rang out, not frightening at all.

She was certain it was a human voice, but since she hadn't heard any footsteps beforehand, she wasn't sure whether it was a person or a ghost.

She didn't sense anyone or any evil spirits trying to harm her for a long time; driven by curiosity, she bravely opened her eyes and stared at the spot where she had just been standing.
