Chapter 111 Huo Jinning calls her mother

Huo Jinning was so focused on making the old lady happy that she completely forgot about her promise to her mother yesterday to go home today.

When he saw Huo Jinning readily agree to his grandfather's request to come see him the next day, Fu Qinian didn't even notice that the expression on his face became increasingly joyful.

Once everyone was sure that Grandpa Fu had fallen asleep, they tiptoed away.

"Ningning, what would you like to eat for lunch today? I'll tell the kitchen to prepare it right away." Wei Qiuwan was also overjoyed that Huo Jinning had asked her to stay.

After these two encounters, Wei Qiuwan discovered that Huo Jinning had a special fondness for food—his eyes would light up with an unusual gleam whenever he saw delicious dishes.

"Aunt Fu, there's no need to prepare anything special. I'm not picky at all; I like everything," Huo Jinning replied obediently.

"Mmm, it's good that she's not a picky eater." Then, Wei Qiuwan turned to Fu Qinian and instructed, "Xiaonian, take Ningning out for a walk in a little while, and come back at lunchtime."

"Okay, Mom."

"Then your dad and I will head back first."

"Goodbye, Uncle Fu and Aunt Fu." Huo Jinxin waved with a smile.

"Goodbye." Wei Qiuwan nodded, then turned and left with Fu Wen.

Fu Wen simply nodded to them and then took Wei Qiuwan home.

"Do you want to go back and rest for a while?" Fu Qinian turned to look at Huo Jinning and asked with concern in his eyes.

"No need, I'm not sleepy yet. How about you? Do you want to go back and rest for a bit?"

"No need. Do you like soaking in hot springs? Our hot springs are quite famous."

Fu Qinian didn't know where to take Huo Jinning, so he suggested the famous hot springs in the area.

"I like it, I like it." Huo Jinxin's eyes instantly brightened, and she answered with anticipation.

She couldn't help but recall the last time she went to a hot spring with her family, but it was a pity that the time was too short, otherwise she would have liked to go a few more times.

At this moment, Wang Kun got out of the car and respectfully said to the two of them, "Young Master, Miss Huo, please get in the car."

"Thank you, Uncle Wang," Huo Jinning said politely.

"Miss Huo, you're too kind," Wang Kun replied with a smile.

"Uncle Wang, let's go straight to Jingyuan."

"Yes, young master," Wang Kun replied respectfully.

Immediately afterwards, he gently closed the car door, then steadily started the vehicle and sped off towards Jingyuan.

"Ningning, I forgot to ask, you're not planning to go back to Beijing today, right? I think you already promised Grandpa."

"Oh dear, I...I...I really forgot. I promised my mom last night that I would definitely be home today, what am I going to do?" Huo Jin was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, and for a moment she panicked and had no idea what to do.

"Don't worry, if you want to go home, I'll take you back this afternoon. As for Grandpa, I'll go over and explain things to him," Fu Qin said gently, trying to reassure him.

"That's not a good idea! Grandpa Fu's health has only just improved slightly. If I don't visit him, he'll definitely be very sad. I should call my mom and explain properly, and go back a few days later. I hope she won't scold me," Huo Jinning said timidly, feeling a little uncertain.

"Okay, that's fine. Otherwise, I'll talk to your aunt for you."

"No, I'll do it myself!"

After Huo Jinning finished speaking, she called her mother.

"Ningning, where are you? Do you need your dad to come pick you up?" Zhao Qiuying's concerned voice came from the other end of the phone.

"Um, Mom, I... I'm still here with Fu Qinian today..." Huo Jinning's voice was barely audible.

"What time are you planning to come back? It's dangerous to drive at night if it's too late," Zhao Qiuying interrupted Huo Jinning anxiously.

"Mom, I might not be going back today," Huo Jinning said, forcing herself to speak.

"What? No! Is it Fu Qinian who won't let you come back?" Zhao Qiuying's voice suddenly rose, her tone clearly displeased.

Huo Jinning quickly explained, "Mom, Mom, don't worry, this has nothing to do with Fu Qinian. It was Grandpa Fu who said he hoped I could stay and keep him company. I didn't think much about it at the time and just agreed without thinking. You can't go back on my word, can you? Besides, Grandpa Fu's condition has just started to improve a little. If it gets worse because of me, I..."

“This…” Zhao Qiuying was stunned and didn’t know how to respond.

After all, it's only natural for an elderly person to want someone to keep them company when they're sick, so it's really not appropriate to refuse them directly.

"Mom, how about I go back in a couple of days?" Huo Jinning said cautiously to her mother, her head bowed and her hands clenched into fists. Her voice was so soft that it seemed only she could hear it.

"Oh?" Zhao Qiuying raised an eyebrow upon hearing this, her tone tinged with doubt. "Then what did Fu Qinian say?"

Upon hearing her mother mention Fu Qinian, Huo Jinning's gaze unconsciously drifted to the man beside her, and she said softly, "He said he would take me home later, and as for Grandpa Fu, he would explain it to him personally."

Zhao Qiuying seemed satisfied with the answer and then asked, "Are you two together now?"

"Um...we're in the car," Huo Jinning answered honestly, like a child who had made a mistake.

After a moment of silence, Zhao Qiuying took a deep breath and slowly said, "Give him the phone, I have something to say to him."

"Oh, okay." Huo Jinning responded obediently, then handed the phone to Fu Qinian and whispered, "Um... my mom wants to say a few words to you."
