So the eight of them went out during the day, sometimes to do farm work, sometimes to play, and the filming progressed fairly smoothly.
But just as it was about to end, an unexpected incident occurred: Huo Jinning disappeared.
"Big brother, Ningning is missing." Huo Zimo immediately called Huo Nanchu.
"What? How could they disappear?" Huo Nanchu's voice rose considerably upon hearing the news.
“Just an hour ago, we were filming outdoors when we separated. The photographer said Ningning was missing. Everyone in our crew went out, but we couldn’t find her,” Huo Zimo explained anxiously.
"Did you call the police?" Huo Nanchu asked.
"Yes, law enforcement officers have arrived," Huo Zimo said.
"I'm coming right now. Don't let Mom and Dad know yet, so they won't worry," Huo Nanchu instructed.
"Okay, I understand. Big brother, do you think Ningning might have been kidnapped?" Huo Zimo guessed.
"Probably not. Ningning only recently returned to the Huo family and hasn't offended anyone." Huo Nanchu couldn't figure it out either.
"Could it be a hater? Someone attacked Ningning online." Huo Zimo suddenly thought of what had happened before.
"It's possible, but we can't be sure yet. We'll have to wait for the police investigation before we can say anything," Huo Nanchu analyzed calmly.
"I hope Ningning will be safe and sound," Huo Zimo prayed.
After hanging up the phone, Huo Nanchu immediately drove to the scene of the incident.
He was very anxious, wondering what had happened to Huo Jinning.
He kept dialing Ningning's cell phone along the way, but no one answered.
Upon arriving at the scene, Huo Nanchu saw the police and film crew members who were busy at work.
He immediately asked the director about the situation and learned that there were currently no leads.
"Where was Ningning last seen?" Huo Nanchu asked.
"According to the photographer, she went to a nearby grove of trees to take pictures," the director said, pointing to the grove in front of him.
Huo Nanchu decided to go to that forest to look for clues himself, and Huo Zimo went with him.
They walked along the path into the woods, carefully observing their surroundings.
Suddenly, a series of footprints were discovered on the ground, indicating at least three people, with disordered footsteps.
He followed the footprints and came to a secluded place.
There is a dilapidated wooden house here, which looks like it has been uninhabited for a long time.
Huo Nanchu cautiously approached the wooden house, pushed open the door, and went inside.
The room reeked of a putrid stench that made one want to vomit.
Huo Nanchu frowned and continued walking forward.
He found a bed in the room with a dirty blanket on it, and some other items scattered around the bed.
On the bedside table, Huo Nanchu found a letter.
He picked up the letter, opened it, and his face immediately darkened. The letter read:
“Mr. Huo, if you don’t want your sister to get hurt, do as I say. Otherwise, you will bear the consequences.”
"Prepare ten million, not consecutive numbers, and you will deliver it here alone."
The letter ended without a signature, only with an address and date, but the writer's arrogant tone was evident between the lines.
Huo Nanchu clenched his fists tightly, his heart filled with anger and fear.
"Big brother, Ningning... I'm so scared," Huo Zimo said, his voice trembling with tears.
"It's alright. Since the other party has something to ask for, it means Ningning is safe now." Huo Nanchu reassured Huo Zimo, trying to sound cheerful, though he himself wasn't sure either.
Just when Huo Nanchu and Huo Zimo thought Huo Jinning had been kidnapped because of the Huo family, Fu Qinian also received a letter from an unknown person, along with a video.
The envelope only had the recipient's name on it—Fu Qinian.
After opening the envelope, there was a piece of paper inside:
"Mr. Fu, you must be familiar with this person in the video. If you want to save her, come here alone... Don't call the police, otherwise the gun in my hand might not obey me. See you at 10 pm tonight."
The last line contains an address.
The letter contained very simple information, but it made Fu Qinian's face turn extremely gloomy.
He put down the letter and then turned on the video.
In the video, Huo Jinning is tied to a chair, her eyes closed, and she is completely still, clearly having been drugged.
Upon seeing this scene, Fu Qinian clenched his fists, a flash of anger and worry crossing his eyes.
"Where did this letter come from?" Fu Qinian's voice was low, suppressing his anger.
Seeing this, Zhang Hui quickly replied, "President Fu, it was delivered by courier. Is there something wrong with it?"
He sensed Fu Qinian's change in mood and knew that things were probably serious.
Fu Qinian took a deep breath, trying to remain calm, and said, "Check the situation of this address and the courier company that delivered the mail immediately."
Zhang Hui nodded in agreement and turned to leave the office.
Fu Qinian looked at Huo Jinning in the video, his heart filled with anxiety.
His first thought was of Fu Bo and Gu Shichu, because these two had been making frequent moves lately.
But if he finds out they did it, he won't be as gentle as before; she's his Achilles' heel.
Time passed slowly, and Fu Qinian sat there quietly, waiting for Zhang Hui's investigation results.
Various possible scenarios kept flashing through his mind, each one making him uneasy.
Finally, Zhang Hui returned to the office, bringing some news.
“Mr. Fu, that address is an abandoned factory, and the surrounding area is quite desolate. We have already sent people to check it out. As for the courier company, they said that the letter was sent anonymously and they cannot find the sender's information.”
