Chapter 185 The Princess and Huo Jinning have a small get-together

After learning that Huo Jinning had returned to Beijing, the princess took advantage of her rare time off and invited Huo Jinning to her home for a small gathering.

Both of them are currently quite popular and generate a lot of buzz, so it's inconvenient for them to go out.

"Xiaofang, this place is nice! Much better than the last one," Huo Jinning said as she entered.

The princess lives in a 40-square-meter studio apartment with a kitchen and bathroom. Although it's not big, it's much better than the previous apartment she shared with others.

"Yes, it's more convenient to live alone. More importantly, it's free and safe. The company rents these places for artists, and most of the other artists living nearby are in similar positions to me," the princess explained.

"What you need right now is safety. The more famous you become, the less you know what kind of people you'll encounter. So you have to be careful."

The princess nodded in agreement: "Yes, I've also noticed recently that people always follow me when I go out. I was even cornered at an event once, which scared me to death. Luckily, there were a lot of people there."

Huo Jinning frowned: "This is too dangerous. You must be careful to protect yourself. If necessary, you can hire a bodyguard."

The princess smiled and said, "It's alright, I'll be careful. These days, whenever I attend an event, my agent sends people to protect me. Besides, it's very safe here; everyone around me is a colleague, and we all look out for each other."

The two went into the living room and sat on the sofa to chat.

"By the way, Xiaofang, how's work going lately?" Huo Jinning asked with concern.

"It's good, but I'm a bit busy with announcements all the time, so I don't feel like I have much personal space."

Huo Jinning patted her on the shoulder: "You've worked hard, but this is a kind of happy trouble. As long as you persevere, things will definitely get better and better."

The princess nodded, her eyes shining with determination: "Yes, I will try my best. Actually, I'm already very satisfied to have come this far."

The two continued chatting, sharing snippets of their lives.

Time always slips away unnoticed, and before we knew it, it was dinnertime.

"Please sit down and rest for a while. We're having hot pot today. I made the tomato broth myself; it's absolutely delicious. You must try it later," the princess warmly invited Huo Jinning.

However, after hearing this, Huo Jinning said that she could help wash the vegetables.

"No need, the kitchen is small, and I'm almost done. Just sit here and have some fruit, I'll be ready soon."

The princess smiled and politely declined Huo Jinning's offer, gently pushing her to sit down on the sofa before turning and walking into the kitchen.

In fact, before meeting Huo Jinning, the princess had already washed the vegetables and prepared the broth.

Now all you need to do is take the ingredients out of the refrigerator and wait for the water to boil.

Because the room was small and there wasn't enough space to put a dining table, they ate directly on the coffee table, which is also the usual way the princess eats her meals.

"Wow, this smells so good!" As the pot boiled, the aroma instantly whetted Huo Jinning's appetite, making her swallow hard.

"I also really like the tomato flavor, and making it at home is both clean and hygienic," the princess replied with a smile.

"This is my first time eating it. I've always had spicy food before, which I thought was flavorful enough. I've never had tomato before," Huo Jinning said.

"Alright, have a taste," the princess said.

"Hiss, whew, delicious," Huo Jinning mumbled incoherently.

"Slow down, it's delicious, so eat more," the princess said, amused.

Both of them ate until they were stuffed before putting down their chopsticks.

The princess is no longer managing her figure and is indulging herself this time.

"Your acting in that new drama is really good, I've watched it countless times," Huo Jinning said happily.

"I still want to thank you. Without you, I wouldn't have thought of acting, and I also need Brother Huo's help."

"I was just saying it offhand; you're the one who's truly capable."

"Without me, you would have entered the entertainment industry a few years later, and the process would have been a bit more bumpy, but you would still have achieved the same success in the end," Huo Jinning thought to herself.

“I’ve watched the variety show you’ve been on recently. It’s very popular. Why don’t you take this opportunity to debut? You’re so beautiful,” the princess continued.

"I haven't decided yet."

Huo Jinning sometimes feels bored and wants to have a job like everyone else, but most of the time, it's better to be a couch potato. So, let's talk about the future later!

"Okay, you're not short of money right now, you can take your time to think about it."

"Oh, right, there's something I forgot to tell you. My mom told me that your adoptive parents' family—your adoptive mother was sentenced for stealing from you, and your adoptive father was accidentally killed by his son and fled to avoid punishment. Later, Ye was arrested. None of this family members had a good ending. It's a kind of revenge for you, since they abused you when you were little." The princess said indignantly.

"Really?" Huo Jinning said happily.

When Huo Jinning left, they made a promise to have hot pot together again next time they had time.

Just as Huo Jinning turned to leave, the princess received a phone call, which was from Qian Chengfeng.

"Mom...I really miss you!" Qian Chengfeng's drunken voice came from the other end of the phone, making the princess frown.

"Mr. Qian, you must have dialed the wrong number? This is Princess Wang." Princess Wang cautiously reminded the other party.

"Mom, have you already forgotten me? I really want you to come and visit me, you know? My brother and I miss you so much." Qian Chengfeng continued talking to himself, as if he hadn't heard the princess's prompting at all.

"Mr. Qian, you really have the wrong number." Princess Wang was starting to feel annoyed, but she was too embarrassed to hang up the phone directly.

However, no matter how the princess explained, Qian Chengfeng remained unmoved, simply repeating the same words over and over, leaving the princess feeling utterly helpless.

Later, Qian Chengfeng fell asleep first, and there was no sound. Only then did the princess hang up the phone.

From Qian Chengfeng's few words, she roughly understood what had happened: it turned out that Qian Chengfeng's mother had passed away many years ago, and his father was too busy with work to take care of his two children.

Later, she even had other children outside of marriage.

As the older brother, Qian Chengfeng had to take on the responsibility of caring for his younger brother. Although his family was very wealthy, Qian Chengfeng lacked care and love from his family.

Upon learning this, the princess couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.

She thought of her parents who always cared for her in the most meticulous way.

Qian Chengfeng, however, had to face life's difficulties alone, and she began to feel an inexplicable closeness to this strange boy.

Later, the princess couldn't bear to hang up the phone and instead gently comforted Qian Chengfeng.

Before we knew it, several hours had passed.

When the princess finally hung up the phone, she glanced at the time and realized it was already 1:30 a.m.

She felt extremely tired and kept yawning before falling into a deep sleep.
