Huo Chengyu slept until nine o'clock in the evening before slowly waking up.
He was half-asleep, his hair was a mess, and he looked completely disheveled.
It was too late, so I was too lazy to fix it. I'll deal with this messy hair tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Huo Shan, Zhao Qiuying, and Huo Nanchu were gathered in the study. In addition, Huo Chengyu, who looked bewildered, was also invited to come.
As for Huo Jinxin, she did not return home because she lived at school, and Huo Jinning was naturally unable to participate either.
"Dad, Mom, Big Brother, why are you all gathered here? Is something wrong? Where is my sister?" Huo Chengyu, who had just entered the study, was still in a daze, his face full of confusion.
"Yes, something is indeed happening, and it concerns you. Please sit down first," Huo Shan said with a serious expression.
"My business? Dad, I haven't been home for a while, I shouldn't have caused any trouble, right?" Huo Chengyu quickly waved his hands and shook his head to show his innocence.
You see, in the past, whenever such family meetings were held, it was usually because Huo Chengyu had gotten into some trouble again and was being criticized and blamed by his family. So this time, he subconsciously tried to distance himself from the situation first, for fear of being scolded.
"Since you didn't cause any trouble, then look at what this is!" With that, Huo Shan threw several one-yuan coins at Huo Chengyu, and they landed at his feet.
Huo Shan had a lifelong passion for collecting all kinds of antiques and cultural relics. After hearing Huo Jinning's thoughts, he immediately went to his collection room to check the situation.
He should have looked away, for what he saw left him utterly astonished.
All the ancient coins were exchanged for one-yuan coins. How could he not be angry? If it weren't for the fact that Huo Chengyu was too tired, he would have been in for a beating and suffered some physical pain.
"Dad, how did you find out? You've been kept in the dark all these years, why did you suddenly decide to investigate?" Huo Chengyu lowered his voice, muttering to himself.
"What are you muttering to yourself over there? Speak up!" Huo Shan glared at his son, his eyes wide with anger.
"Mom..." Seeing that the situation was not good, Huo Chengyu immediately looked to Zhao Qiuying for help.
“My perfume…” Zhao Qiuying sighed helplessly.
"Now everyone knows," Huo Chengyu muttered listlessly, like a deflated balloon.
"Big brother, save me!" With nowhere else to turn, Huo Chengyu placed his last hope on his older brother, Huo Nanchu.
"My homework..." However, Huo Nanchu just watched her younger brother make a fool of himself as if nothing had happened, without any intention of helping him out.
"Oh dear! Why bring up those old stories again? It's been so long. Oh, right, I suddenly remembered I haven't chosen my photos yet. I need to get them sorted out quickly, I need them urgently." Huo Chengyu said as he prepared to slip away.
"Stop right there! Who gave you permission to leave?" Huo Shan rubbed his temples, utterly helpless with his mischievous son.
Seeing that Huo Chengyu was about to touch the doorknob, he had no choice but to stop and turn around with a mournful expression.
"I know I was wrong, Dad, go ahead and do it! I won't fight back." Huo Chengyu put on a sincere look of admitting his mistake.
"Third brother, your dad will let you off the hook today. Find a place to sit down! There are other things to take care of, aren't there?" Zhao Qiuying said.
She then said, "Honey, let's get back to the main topic. We'll have plenty of time to teach this good-for-nothing a lesson later."
The mother, Zhao Qiuying, quickly pulled the father and son back from going off-topic.
As soon as Zhao Qiuying finished speaking, the relaxed and casual atmosphere in the room suddenly became solemn and serious.
Seeing his parents' expressions, Huo Chengyu realized that things might be going badly, and quickly dropped his previous nonchalant attitude.
"You're all so serious and solemn, it's making me uneasy. Is my family facing bankruptcy?" Huo Chengyu asked anxiously.
"Stop talking nonsense! It's none of your business," Huo Shan replied irritably.
"Oh? It has nothing to do with me? But I haven't caused any trouble lately. Those were just mistakes I made when I was a child. Why hold onto them now?"
"So how much do you actually know about your personal assistant? Has he been in contact with you recently?" Huo Shan continued to press, ignoring Huo Chengyu's words.
"Dad, Xiao Zhang is a really good guy. He always manages my affairs very well. He's very dedicated and conscientious," Huo Chengyu replied confidently.
"This is what I had someone find out. Take a look." Huo Shan handed Huo Chengyu the information he had found about Xiao Zhang, along with some photos.
"This...this...it can't be a misunderstanding, right?" Huo Chengyu was unwilling to believe that someone who had followed him for several years had suddenly betrayed him.
“Don’t you trust your dad to do things? He wouldn’t give it to you unless he was 100% sure,” Huo Nanchu said.
"That's true, it's just..." Huo Chengyu didn't know what to say for a moment.
"Boss, what's your opinion on this matter?" Huo Shan turned to look at Huo Nanchu, knowing full well that asking Huo Chengyu was pointless.
"Why not turn the tables and let these despicable people taste the bitter fruit of their actions!" Huo Nanchu felt a surge of resentment when he thought of how his younger brother had been betrayed and ruined by such treacherous people, and died in despair.
"Oh? Tell me more," Huo Shan quickly pressed.
