Chapter 31

Chapter 31

Li Qingyao's task was to work with another colleague from the second team to screen and compare the resident database based on the suspect's portrait, and ultimately determine who the suspect identified by Xiang Siling was.

Although the portrait artist has drawn the portrait, it does not mean that the police will be able to know who he is immediately. After the technical department imported the portrait into the data system, the computer screened out about 300 people who looked similar to the portrait among the province's permanent population. These people have different backgrounds and identities, and their similarity to the portrait varies, but considering that the portrait itself has certain deviations, all of them have to go through it again. The criminal police team will analyze and compare each person one by one and finally select the person with the greatest suspicion.

Li Qingyao formulated several priority screening principles himself: 1. Age between 30-40 years old; 2. Direct or indirect contact with Qian Chengfeng or Liu Huaixin; 3. In Xiangcheng in recent days; 4. The experience seven years ago, that is, in 2016-2017, is questionable.

Because some people's information was incomplete, they had to call each one to verify, or contact the relevant departments to verify. This work process was very cumbersome. Li Qingyao and his colleague worked until after 11 o'clock in the evening.

The two of them felt dizzy and their heads were swollen. Plus, it was so late, and they couldn't contact many people or verify anything. The two decided to go home and get some sleep first and continue in the morning.

Even though a big case has come and the criminal police have stopped taking vacations, they still have to sleep every day. Those who live far away can sleep in the duty room, and those who live nearby can go home and lie down. Everyone has to be on standby at all times.

When Li Qingyao went downstairs, most of the lights in the office building had been turned off. She yawned, thinking that Chen Pu had left with Ding Guoqiang and had not returned yet. She wondered if he would come home tonight.

As a result, Cao Cao appears whenever you think of him.

A police car drove into the compound. The person behind the wheel was Chen Pu, and Ding Guoqiang got out from the back seat.

Li Qingyao stared at him from afar with a serious expression on his face, and walked over slowly.

As they walked over here, they talked with their heads down. Chen Pu saw her, but acted as if he didn't see her and continued talking to Ding Guoqiang.

As he approached, Li Qingyao greeted him, "Captain Ding, Chen Pu, you just got back?"

Ding Guoqiang nodded: "Off work?"

"Um."

Ding Guoqiang said calmly: "Thank you for your hard work."

Chen Pu remained silent the entire time, his presence was extremely weak, and he passed by Li Qingyao.

After Li Qingyao walked out of the compound, Chen Pu and Ding Guoqiang just walked downstairs and stopped: "That's the situation, Master, if there's nothing else, I'll go back and sleep for a while, you should also go to bed early."

Ding Guoqiang glared at him: "A dog chasing a rabbit, why are you so anxious? You are useless."

Chen Pu smiled: "We have finished talking about the work. It's so late, I am worried about her walking alone at night."

"Get out of here now."

Every late at night, the deserted Chaoyang Home community is particularly quiet. The dim street lights splashed on the road like water. There was no car or person in front of Li Qingyao. But she felt that this was a rare moment of peace and quiet in the day. She sincerely liked the feeling of the whole world being silent. She put her hands in her trouser pockets and walked slowly, as if this was the only way to relieve all her fatigue.

But someone just wanted to disturb her peace.

The sound of brisk and swift footsteps sounded to Li Qingyao's ears like rapid raindrops dripping on a stretched lotus leaf.

She didn't look back and continued walking on her way. The man's footsteps stopped behind him and asked, "Why didn't you wait for me?"

"I don't know whether you will come home or not."

Chen Pu moved closer, put his arm around her shoulders, and with his other hand he grasped hers with ease, holding it in his palm to feel its temperature. His coat was soaked with the chill of the night and was icy cold, but his hands were still warm. A refreshing breath instantly enveloped her without any explanation.

Li Qingyao frowned in disdain: "We are so close to the unit, if someone sees us, let go."

"No." Chen Pu said, "It's so dark, who can see clearly? If someone really saw us, we will deny it to death."

Li Qingyao turned and looked at him: "You followed so quickly, Lao Ding won't be suspicious, right?"

In the darkness of the night, the edges of his face were a little blurry, but there was a hint of smile in his eyes. He hugged her neck in his arms, lowered his head and kissed her on the lips.

Li Qingyao had a strange illusion.

It felt like a long time had passed since the last time they kissed, but that was obviously not the case. His lips were always warm before, but tonight they were cold. His tongue hooked it several times before Li Qingyao seemed to react. He went forward and entangled with him quietly.

Chen Pu's hands were clasped around her neck the whole time, and the two of them walked slowly and chaotically. Li Qingyao pushed him several times before he was able to push him away.

"It's hard to walk," she complained.

"No." He said, "I'm here, just close your eyes and go."

Because of this interruption, Li Qingyao forgot what he had just asked. The two held hands and continued to walk home. Chen Pucai said, "We have already passed Lao Ding's place. Don't worry."

Li Qingyao:? ? ? ! ! ! She had no intention of letting the devil take her place.

"Didn't you say to keep a low profile and not tell anyone?"

"He figured it out himself. What can I do? Am I supposed to deny it when he asks me about it?" The man was very confident.

It wasn’t a big deal, and Li Qingyao was too lazy to worry about it. The two walked downstairs of her house, and she touched her stomach and said, "I'm a little hungry."

Chen Pu was also hungry and said, "Then let's go out and eat something?"

Li Qingyao shook his head: "It's already this late. If I go out to eat, I will definitely be full and unable to sleep. But if I don't eat and go hungry, I won't be able to sleep either."

"So what do you want to do? I can do anything."

Li Qingyao thought for a moment and said, "Forget it, go eat by yourself. I have a bag of frozen wontons at home. Just cook a few to fill your stomach. This way you won't be too full, but you won't be too hungry to sleep. I'll be back then."

Li Qingyao thought she had come up with the best of both worlds. Just as she was about to turn around and go upstairs, Chen Pu grabbed her arm and refused to let go. He looked obviously unacceptable: "You won't eat with me?"

Li Qingyao laughed: "I've never heard that being a girlfriend requires you to have midnight snacks every day, right? You might as well find a pig."

Chen Pu glanced at her, let go of her, walked past her, and went up the stairs first: "Forget it, I'll eat some wontons too."

Li Qingyao thought it was okay.

After entering the house, Chen Pu asked, "Do you cook if I cook?"

"Let me cook. I cook wontons pretty well. Please sit for a while. I don't drink tea at night. Pour two cups of health water. There's some in the refrigerator. Heat it up in the microwave for one minute."

"OK."

They each do their own thing. Chen Pu poured the water and sat on the sofa. When he looked up, he saw her standing in front of the stove, holding a spoon in her hand and slowly sliding it in the pot. Even though it was such a simple matter of cooking frozen wontons, she stood straight, lowered her brows, and looked very serious. Under the bright light, her hair was black and soft, and her skin was fair and clean.

Chen Pu couldn't help laughing as he watched. He raised his phone and quickly took a photo.

It wasn't long before I could smell a fragrance. Li Qingyao came out with two bowls, one large and one small. Chen Pu quickly stood up and took them, placing them on the coffee table. He looked down and saw that there were 5 in her bowl and 15 in his. The plump wontons float in the light yellow soup with soy sauce and vinegar, with green chopped green onions floating on top. It is simple, but it makes people feel thumbs up.

"If it's not enough, you can cook it." Li Qingyao said generously.

"That's enough."

Li Qingyao's home was very casual. He threw two cushions over and the two of them sat on the floor, eating wontons on the coffee table. After chatting about work for a while, they quickly finished their wontons. Just as Li Qingyao was about to stand up, Chen Pu had already stood up with two bowls in his hands: "I'll wash them, you take a rest."

Li Qingyao didn't move. She leaned back on the sofa, watching him working quickly in the kitchen, and thought he was doing quite well in that regard.

After Chen Pu finished washing the dishes and hung up the rag, the two sat on the sofa again and drank some water. It seemed like there was nothing else to talk about. Li Qingyao looked at the time. It was 12:15. Chen Pu was obviously tired and leaned back on the sofa.

But he just wouldn't leave.

Li Qingyao said decisively: "Chen Pu, see you tomorrow."

Chen Pu probably didn't expect that she would chase him away so directly. He paused for a moment, then looked at her, but turned his head to the side, smiled, and said nothing, but still didn't stand up.

Li Qingyao never expected that he had such a difficult side, and he perfectly demonstrated what it meant to turn a deaf ear.

She couldn't help laughing and said, "That's enough. Are you planning to sit here all night? Go back to bed quickly. I also want to take a shower and go to bed."

As a result, this sentence seemed to bring inspiration to the mangy dog. He sighed, turned his body sideways, fell heavily on the sofa, and put his arms behind his head: "Why can't I stay here for one night? I want to sleep on your sofa."
