Chapter 35 He Can Walk

As for whether the news is good or bad, judging from Mom's calm and unhurried instructions to Aunt Wu, nothing serious should have happened. It should just be Christmas Eve, which means Dad is still alive.

Just live well. This war has resulted in the most severe casualties. Even though the Japanese devils burned, killed, and looted our land for so many years, it was never as serious as this.

I remember reading in the relevant history that the victory in this war was achieved through human wave tactics.

Also, it is now March of 1952 in the Gregorian calendar. According to the original historical trajectory, the armistice negotiations started in July of last year and continued until July of 1953.

During this period, although there have been frictions and counterattacks, no one expected that there would be a fiercest battle to come.

This battle was the most devastating in the history of our army, and it can be said that this battle was the most crucial factor in winning this war.

But I'm just a child, a child with absolutely no abilities. How can I help them?

Liu Linjuan didn't notice the little one in her arms. Seeing her nestled on her shoulder, her heart softened instantly.

"Then I'll take the child back to the room to rest for a while."

"Go back inside and rest! You've been exhausted these past few days!"

Seeing Liu Linjuan's exhausted appearance, Sister Wu quickly told her to take the child back inside.

Liu Linjuan didn't say anything more. After greeting the children in the yard, she carried her daughter back to her room.

After I went back into the room, I heard my mother say to me:

"My little darling, come sleep with me for a while!" she said, putting me on the kang (a heated brick bed), then taking off my clothes and shoes, and then putting me in the quilt. Finally, she took off her own clothes and lay down on the kang.

Thinking that her mother must be very tired these past few days, she didn't make a fuss. Instead, she nestled in her mother's arms, closed her eyes, and pretended to be asleep.

Liu Linjuan was very pleased to see her daughter so well-behaved. Once her daughter fell asleep, she couldn't stay awake any longer and went to sleep herself.

Even though the surgery is over, there are still many things to do afterward. Being in a hospital is not the same as being at home, so it's hard to sleep soundly, isn't it?

After waiting a while, and hearing that my mother was fast asleep, I opened my eyes, lay in my mother's arms, and thought:

I'm almost thirteen months old now, and it's gotten warmer these past few days, so I can walk now.

My mother has been in a bad mood lately, so she'll definitely be happy to see her daughter walking.

Another thing is that my baby has stopped drinking milk. My mom was away at the hospital for several days, so we were able to wean her off milk effortlessly. This is a happy thing for me, as she can eat a lot more now.

It's been over a year since I was born, and being able to eat other things means I'm slowly growing up.

Moreover, there are many things in the space that I can secretly eat, such as boiled eggs, strawberries, blueberries, and so on, as long as they are within my little hands.

However, when eating, one must secretly avoid other people, as this is a secret one doesn't want to reveal.

That evening, while playing on the other side of the outer kang (heated brick bed), I heard:

"Mianmian, when did you wake up? Have you had lunch yet?"

"Mom, eat!"

After hearing her mother's words, she slowly stood up and walked over step by step. When she was almost in front of her mother, she tripped over something and fell on top of her mother. She was a little surprised and at a loss.

When Mom saw that I could walk, she said happily, "Mianmian can walk now! That's great! Our Mianmian is so amazing!"

The children playing outside heard what was happening inside.

"Mianmian can walk now!"

They all put down what they were holding and ran over to ask.

"Master, Master, can my sister walk now?"

Shen Xi hurriedly asked

Seeing the children's surprised expressions, Liu Linjuan happily said to her own child, "Come on, honey, let's walk a few more steps so your older brothers and sisters can see, okay?"

"good"

Looking at the few kids standing under the kang (a heated brick bed), he thought to himself, "It's time for you to put on a show." He was about to get up when he plopped down on the quilt.

The others were caught off guard and burst into laughter.

Completely bewildered, I wondered how this could happen. What was going on? This lousy blanket was refusing to cooperate with me; it was infuriating.

Looking at the blanket under my bottom, Mom quickly said, "It's Mom's fault. I should have moved the blanket aside and put it away properly."

As she spoke, she quickly pulled me to one side and placed the quilt on the kang cabinet.

After seeing that there were no obstacles in front of me, I slowly stood up and tentatively started walking step by step. After a few steps, I sat down again with a thud.

She didn't cry. She rolled over, stood up by holding onto the wall, and slowly walked towards her mother step by step. She opened her arms, wanting a hug. When her mother hugged her, she pointed to the kang (a heated brick bed), meaning to get down.

And so they played happily. You could say that ever since they learned to walk, they've been unstoppable, playing on the kang (heated brick bed) all the time!

But this kang (heated brick bed) is still too small. It would be better if it could be placed on the ground floor or in the yard.

However, because it was still very cold outside, no one took off their cotton-padded coats.

During the day, he would sit there quietly and play. After dinner, he would take off his clothes and practice walking on the kang (a heated brick bed).

And let me tell you, once I could walk, I was able to do a lot more things, not to mention secretly taking some food out of my space.

They would rummage through drawers and cabinets on the kang (a heated brick bed), looking around and even searching for things, as if they wanted to check every mouse hole.

After all, although I could see some of the furniture in my house in my previous life, I never used this complete set!

I really want to take a good look, but for now I can only see the cabinets on the kang (heated brick bed); I can't see anything else yet.

Since Mom came back recently, Aunt Zhou has come back a few times, but she doesn't rest at home or at their house at night. Instead, she stays at the hospital because Uncle Shen is seriously injured and needs someone to stay with him.

However, during the day, Aunt Zhou took her older brother and sister to the hospital to visit Uncle Shen. She wanted to go too, but since she was too young, she didn't take them. Besides, they were family, and it didn't seem appropriate for her to go along.

However, seeing everyone else going out to play makes me a little angry. Even if I can't go to the hospital with them, I can at least go out and see the world!

But there's nothing we can do; we can't fight city hall!

What's even more infuriating is that my third and fourth brothers, who usually don't go to school, can stay home and play with me. But lately, they've been staying home during the day to be with Uncle Shen at the hospital, and only come back in the afternoon when Aunt Zhou comes back to get his meals.

Now I'm all alone at home. When they were here before, at least it wasn't Aunt Wu, it was Sister Shan Shan, and at least I was the only one keeping an eye on the two of them.

But ever since they went to the hospital, Aunt Wu and Sister Shanshan have only been able to keep an eye on them, so they no longer have much time to sneak in some good food.

It's so much better when they're all at home! I can sneak into their space during the day during that time and see that it's still the same as it was before I died in my previous life.

The only difference was that there were rotten grapes scattered all over the floor, and a few bunches of raisins on the grape trellis.

Strawberry seedlings are everywhere, but not many are good.

The door to the room, I'm small and not very strong now, but I can open it without much effort, since the kitchen door was never closed before.

And so I started secretly eating some meat and drinking some soup in my online space.

But ever since they went to the hospital, they haven't been able to eat meat and drink soup.

Fortunately, Aunt Wu and Sister Shanshan don't sit and watch over the baby during afternoon naps; they take the opportunity to do other things.

They might take this opportunity to quickly come to the space and secretly do some other things.

After finishing, she would pick up the hose, wet her hands, slowly wipe her mouth, dry her mouth with her sleeve, and quickly slip out of the space, afraid that Aunt Wu and Sister Shanshan might suddenly come in and not be able to find her, otherwise who knows what kind of trouble might occur.

And so, I could sneak into the space every now and then to steal some food. After a few months, I didn't feel anything was wrong. But one day, when Aunt Zhou came back excitedly, she saw me, picked me up, and bounced me around.

Then I heard someone say, "Wow, it's only been a short time since I held my little darling, and she's already so heavy?"

After hearing this, Mom smiled and said to Aunt Zhou...

"Sister Wu makes special meals for Commander Shen every day, but Commander Shen hasn't gained weight. It's our Mianmian who has gotten fat?"

"What's going on? How come you've gotten so fat, little girl?"

Sister Wu explained from the side, "Ever since this child learned to walk, I usually just watch her walk slowly in the yard. When I'm cooking, I have Shanshan watch her. At first, nothing much happened."

Every time she smelled the aroma of chicken soup, she would slowly move to the kitchen doorway and stay there, staring intently at the stove.

One time, she seemed tired of standing there or something, so she dragged and pulled a small stool from the yard to where she was! And here it is, placed by the kitchen door.

Aunt Zhou turned around and came to the kitchen doorway, where there was indeed a small stool.

Aunt Wu said, "I heard her say that."

"She just sat there without moving, not making a fuss, just staring at the stove. When asked what she was doing..."

She just kept saying it smelled good, and it really bothered me! So every time I packed food for her, I made her taste it little by little.

Don't let her small size fool you; after taking a bite, she didn't fuss for more. Instead, she got up and practiced walking in the yard.

"In just three months, she's gained so much weight!"

Upon hearing this, Liu Linjuan exclaimed, "This is a glutton!"

Zhou Tao, however, said nonchalantly, "It's good to be fat! Being fat is a sign of good fortune!"

Feeling a little embarrassed by what they said, she leaned on Aunt Zhou's shoulder.

Aunt Zhou laughed upon seeing this and jokingly said, "Oh, our Mianmian knows how to be embarrassed now, she knows how to be shy."
