Chapter 114 Has the Sage Qinglan ever been here?

The sky was just beginning to lighten.

The group, no longer sleepy, got into the car. Lin Menglan wiped away the mud wall, and the off-road vehicle set off again.

Around noon, a continuous stretch of city wall came into view of Lu Ning and his companions.

Base City No. 121 is just around the corner.

However, as they approached the base city, Lu Ning frowned slightly.

In his view, the entire base city was shrouded in a layer of white mist.

Although the concentration of white fog was not very high, it was definitely not low either, almost comparable to the concentration of white fog caused by the Fallen Incense Burner in Base City 116.

This level of mental pollution is definitely abnormal for a base city.

However, when the Saint Qinglan came to this base city before, he did not find anything unusual about it.

This is enough to show that the things causing mental pollution are deeply hidden.

The convoy followed the deserted streets and soon arrived at the city gate.

At the gate, the Free Awakeners enter and exit just like those from Base City 116.

In Lu Ning's view, a thin white mist swirled within the bodies of these awakened free spirits.

These white mists are not enough to cause illness, but they do indicate a significant level of mental pollution.

After all, Lu Ning wouldn't be able to see the white mist inside his body if he were a normal awakened being.

The presence of white mist indicates that the level of mental pollution in this awakened individual is not normal.

Lu Ning remained calm as he looked at each of the Awakened Ones who passed by. Without exception, white mist could be seen within the bodies of all the Awakened Ones.

However, when the two staff members in protective suits used the equipment to test them, there was no alarm.

Of course, the two staff members wearing protective suits, as well as the defense team behind them, also had white mist inside their bodies.

Most of these defense soldiers were ordinary people.

In the same environment, the level of mental pollution of ordinary people and that of awakened individuals should be different.

However, the level of spiritual pollution among these ordinary people and awakened individuals was the same.

Soon, it was Lu Ning and his group's turn to be inspected.

When the staff examined Lu Ning, they looked at the instrument with surprise: "How come your mental pollution level is 0?"

Upon hearing this, everyone, from the members of the defense team to the free awakeners walking by the roadside, turned to look at Lu Ning.

Lu Ning calmly said, "This is my identification. My mental pollution level is 0. You can verify it."

In the SUV in front, Nan Yu also took out his identification: "We are an investigation team arranged by headquarters. This is my identification. If you have any questions, please contact headquarters."

The staff member took the document with some skepticism and glanced at it. After confirming its authenticity, he quickly smiled and said, "Sir, I apologize for any offense. This is normal procedure. I hope you won't take offense!"

Nan Yu waved his hand and smiled, "I understand."

He then asked, "By the way, were any other investigation teams here before?"

The staff member was silent for a moment, seemingly trying to recall, before finally saying, "No members of the investigation team have been here."

Nan Yu raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Really? Thanks. Can we go now?"

"Of course! Please go ahead, sir."

The group drove through the gate.

Looking in the rearview mirror, Lu Ning noticed that the defense team members and inspectors were still watching their convoy.

Even many of the free-spirited individuals on the roadside were watching them.

The expressions of these onlookers were calm, revealing no emotion.

Just then, Nan Yu's voice came through the car radio: "It's still early. Let's go to the Fog Bureau to find out what's going on, then find a place to settle down, and then investigate slowly."

Xu Hui's voice came through: "No problem! Captain, you're in charge."

Dennis smiled and said, "You're our boss, we'll listen to you."

Lu Ning calmly replied, "I have no objection."

"Then it's settled."

The vehicle headed towards the headquarters of the Bureau of Fog.

On the way, Lu Ning observed the pedestrians on the street and everything around him.

Within the base city, a thin white fog can also be seen in the air.

And all the pedestrians also had white mist flowing through their bodies.

Moreover, the concentration of white fog was about the same for all pedestrians.

Apart from that, Lu Ning didn't notice anything unusual.

The pedestrians seemed oblivious to their own mental pollution problem, or to anything amiss with the environment.

They work and live just like the people in Base 116.

Families go out to eat together, couples stroll hand in hand, some wander alone, and of course, there are street fights.

An hour later, the convoy stopped in the parking lot outside the headquarters.

Nan Yu and his group got out of the car and headed towards the headquarters.

The headquarters was bustling with activity, with many people coming and going.

Under Lu Ning's observation, everyone had white mist circulating within their bodies.

Nan Yu went to the front desk and took out his identification: "We are an investigation team sent by headquarters. Take me to see your director."

The receptionist paused for a moment, and several headquarters staff members and other receptionists nearby all looked over.

The female receptionist took Nan Yu's documents, looked them over, and then made a phone call to confirm. She then quickly stood up and said, "Greetings, officers. I'll take you to see the bureau chief right away!"

Nan Yu took back his ID and nodded; "Okay."

The female receptionist led the group into a private elevator and headed to the top floor.

Inside the elevator, Nan Yu looked at the female receptionist and asked, "Have any other investigation teams been here?"
