The two left the activity room and went to the archives room first.
This place stores all the case files of the First Division, which are stored in two ways: computer storage and physical document storage.
Ke Qing quickly found the files from the past year on the computer in the archives.
There were a total of 22 pathological events.
This number is slightly more than that of the Seventh Division, but it is still within a reasonable range.
Lu Ning opened the files one by one and began to review their contents.
These files include the capture of free-awakening criminals, the elimination of monstrous beasts appearing in the base city, and the extermination of ordinary people and awakened diseased individuals.
Overall, they were all routine cases.
In the past year, Lu Ning has experienced many similar cases in the cases he handled in the Seventh Division.
However, Lu Ning soon discovered a problem.
He asked, "In this past year, there have been four cases of flesh mutation in your District One?"
Ke Qing glanced at it and nodded, "Yes, is there a problem?"
"Isn't it a bit high that four out of twenty-two cases involved the same type of lesion?"
Ke Qing thought for a moment, then said, "It is a bit high, but it is within a reasonable range, right? After all, this kind of situation sometimes happens."
Lu Ning nodded slightly. He thought for a moment, then said, "Could you take me to see these four locations of flesh and blood mutation?"
"No problem!" Ke Qing said with a smile.
"Thanks."
"You're too kind, hahaha. I thought you were a cold person, but I didn't expect you to be so polite." Ke Qing glanced at Lu Ning again.
Lu Ning calmly said, "This is a basic human quality. I am an ordinary human being, so of course I have this quality."
Ke Qing paused, her expression somewhat strange, and said, "Um... Awakened beings shouldn't be considered ordinary humans anymore, right?"
"In my eyes, they are all normal human beings."
"Alright then." Ke Qing felt that Lu Ning's definition of ordinary humans seemed a bit problematic, but seeing Lu Ning's determined eyes, she didn't argue with him.
After the two left the branch office, Ke Qing asked, "Did you drive here?"
"Um."
"You drive, I'll give directions, let's go!"
"good."
Upon seeing the SUV, Ke Qing exclaimed in surprise, "This car is nice! It just looks a bit dirty."
She seems to enjoy making a fuss.
Lu Ning calmly replied, "Because we passed through the wilderness."
Ke Qing asked curiously, "What's it like in the wild?"
Lu Ning glanced at Ke Qing: "You haven't been out?"
Ke Qing shook her head and said, "No, I grew up in the base city. Later, my dad passed away, and my mom and I depended on each other. Then I awakened my abilities and joined the Mist Bureau directly because the salary was really high! My mom had gone through a lot of hardship with me before, and I just wanted to make her life better, so I didn't become a Free Awakener."
"Actually, personally speaking, I'd really like to be a Free Awakener. Going on adventures outside the base city, exploring various ruins, even delving into the mist, searching for the unknown—how romantic would that be!"
Ke Qing talked on and on, and when Lu Ning asked a question, she immediately launched into a long explanation.
Ke Qing continued, "It's a pity my mother didn't have many good days; she passed away last year. But now I can't bear to leave my teammates. So I've stopped thinking about the outside world."
After listening quietly, Lu Ning said, "It's not fun outside. It's desolate, and you might encounter something diseased."
Ke Qing responded with an "oh," and Lu Ning inquired, "From what you've said, your memory is quite good; you remember your past life very clearly."
Ke Qing said speechlessly, "Look at what you're saying. No matter what abilities we Awakeners awaken, our mental strength is much stronger than that of ordinary people, right? Memorizing these things is very simple for us, isn't it?"
Lu Ning glanced at her and asked, "Have you had any recent misremembering incidents?"
"Unable to remember? Recently?" Ke Qing shook her head without even thinking and said, "Definitely not."
Lu Ning nodded slightly, then asked, "Do you feel that something is wrong with your headquarters? Or with your teammates?"
Upon hearing this, Ke Qing immediately glanced at Lu Ning warily: "Why are you asking this?"
Lu Ning calmly replied, "I'm a member of the reconnaissance team, this is a routine inquiry. Of course, it's also necessary to investigate whether any members of the Mist Bureau have any issues. After all, the disease doesn't discriminate."
Ke Qing thought for a moment and nodded, saying, "What you said makes sense, but I didn't notice anything wrong."
Lu Ning nodded slightly and said no more.
Ke Qing looked at Lu Ning and then said, "Judging from your appearance and your performance yesterday, do you think there's something wrong with our headquarters?"
Lu Ning calmly replied, "It's just a guess."
"Alright then. Turn right!"
With Keqing's directions, the vehicle quickly arrived at the first crime scene of the bloody and deformed flesh.
This is an ordinary residential building.
There are shops downstairs and residences upstairs.
The shops below are still somewhat dilapidated and have become deserted.
This stands in stark contrast to the shops on the side.
This street used to be quite busy with pedestrians, so it was considered a prime location, but now it's vacant.
Ke Qing said, "It was the owner of this shop who went mad. He killed his own family members. Later, the neighbors called the police, and we rushed over to deal with it as soon as we received the news."
Lu Ning nodded: "This shop belongs to them?"
