An Lan nodded slightly and smiled, "Of course we have to go and see! If it really is the Yellow Springs... then our understanding of the mist will probably have to be adjusted again."
An Lan felt no fear or worry, but rather was filled with curiosity.
Although Jerry and the others were somewhat worried, they had already disregarded their own lives when they entered the base city.
"Are you really going?" Li Xiao asked again to confirm.
Saint Qinglan smiled and said, "Li Xiao, when did you become so fussy?"
Li Xiao smiled casually: "Alright then, if you really die anyway, then stay and work with us. Who knows, we might be able to turn this base city into a paradise for the dead?"
"Haha, if we really die and our souls remain here, then let's rebuild this ruin together."
Saint Qinglan smiled as she glanced around.
He took in the ruins of this ancient base city, destroyed in a bygone era.
A complex light flickered in his eyes.
Just then, Lu Ning calmly said, "I won't die, but I probably won't survive."
The air fell silent for a moment, then Lin Xiao, his face full of exasperation, said, "Are you completely impervious to reason?!"
Lu Ning looked at Lin Xiao with some confusion: "Why do you say that? I didn't say anything wrong."
The corner of Qinglan Saint's mouth twitched slightly, and he said, "Alright, enough of this nonsense. Li Xiao, take us to see it."
"OK!"
Li Xiao nodded, then glanced at the others.
He paused for a moment and then said, "Those who want to come along, then come along."
Lin Xiao and the others immediately smiled: "Elder Li, let's go take a look together!"
"Yeah, we also want to know what the hell is beyond the border!"
Li Xiao smiled and strode ahead, with Saint Qinglan and the others following behind.
They walked along the dilapidated central area of the base city toward the northern part.
As Lu Ning got closer to the northern area, he found that the surrounding white fog became increasingly dense.
Inside the base city, the concentration of white fog was actually lighter than in the fog outside the base city.
However, the concentration increased again near the northern area.
Soon, they arrived at their destination.
It was located on a pile of ruins, with a dim yellow light curtain blocking the way ahead.
The light curtain spread, seemingly dividing the entire base city into two parts.
Saint Qinglan and the others stood in front of the light screen, unable to see the scene on the other side of the screen.
However, everyone seemed to vaguely hear the sound of the river.
Wow!
Wow!
Wow!
An Lan's expression changed slightly as she looked at the light screen, lost in thought.
He then took out several instruments, placed them on the ground, and turned them on one by one.
Soon, indicator lights began flashing on one of the complex instruments.
Scanning light beams are emitted from the instrument and fall onto the light screen.
The dim, yellowish light curtain was calm and undisturbed.
Soon, beeping sounds came from one instrument after another, and red indicator lights flashed frequently.
An Lan glanced at the screen where the images appeared one by one, with various irregular lines constantly emerging, without any cracks whatsoever.
The area where data should have been output was now displaying garbled text.
An Lan frowned: "No, the detector can't penetrate this light barrier. It's similar to the situation outside the base city."
The Qinglan Saint and the others remained calm, showing no surprise.
The Azure Mist Saint looked at Li Xiao and asked, "Have you tried to pass through the light barrier?"
Li Xiao nodded slightly: "We tried, but we couldn't get close to the light screen, just like we couldn't leave the city gate of the base city."
As he spoke, Li Xiao glanced at Qinglan Saint and the others, and said, "Perhaps it's because we are souls, while you are different, so perhaps you can pass through."
Saint Qinglan nodded slightly.
He then looked at Lu Ning and said, "Lu Ning, why don't you try it with your hand?"
Given the unknown dangers involved, it was undoubtedly most appropriate for Lu Ning to scout ahead.
After all, Lu Ning himself is not dead, so there is no need to worry even if he encounters danger.
Lu Ning nodded calmly, "Okay."
He then stepped forward and, under everyone's gaze, placed his hand on the dim yellow light screen.
The previously calm light screen spread outwards like ripples on water as Lu Ning's hand fell.
Lu Ning's hand seemed to reach into the water, penetrating deep into the light screen.
Everyone held their breath.
Lin Xiao asked with some concern, "Lu Ning, do you feel anything is wrong? Could this light screen be harmful?"
The others were also looking at Lu Ning.
An Lan, in particular, kept her eyes glued to the instrument, trying to see the differences in the survey data.
Unfortunately, the instrument was still displaying garbled characters and could not detect anything.
Lu Ning said calmly, "I felt no discomfort at all; it was like passing through a layer of water."
Lu Ning seemed to be thinking about something, and then said, "It's similar to the situation when we entered the city gate before, where we passed through a layer of water, but the water is clearer."
Upon hearing this, Saint Qinglan and the others looked enlightened.
They also felt as if they had passed through something after entering the city gate.
An Lan reasoned, "Perhaps... this is a spatial barrier. Base City 65 may appear to be located within Mist 233, but it may actually be in a different space. It's just that due to some special reason, we can see Base City from within the space of Mist 233 and even enter it."
Saint Qinglan frowned and said, "So, we might not be in the 233rd mist now?"
An Lan nodded and said, "That's possible."
