As An Lan and her group passed through the dim yellow light curtain, they felt the surrounding space distorting and changing.
Space spun around.
When they recovered, they found themselves in a wilderness.
The wilderness stretched as far as the eye could see, the ground cracked and yellowish.
White mist churned in the sky, making it incredibly gloomy.
You can often see figures walking on the ground.
Some of these figures were humanoid, some were beast-like, and some had bizarrely shaped bodies, as if they were a composite of various creatures.
These figures seemed to have lost consciousness, their movements stiff and aimless.
The wary crowd looked at the vast wilderness and the numerous figures walking across it, their expressions extremely solemn.
"Where...is this?! Didn't we come out of the light screen of the base city? How did we end up in a place like this?" Gina asked in surprise and doubt.
“Yeah…and this place doesn’t seem to be in the fog? There’s less fog around, but more fog in the sky?” Jerry looked at the sky and said.
An Lan frowned as she observed her surroundings.
When he saw that there was also a desolate wilderness behind them, he said thoughtfully, "No wonder... Lu Ning and Qing Lan couldn't go back before."
Everyone snapped out of their daze and looked behind them.
When they realized that the light screen behind them was not the one they had come from, everyone felt a sinking feeling in their hearts.
Yang Yin asked thoughtfully, "Elder An, how should we get back?"
An Lan shook her head: "We don't know yet. We need to explore here. Since we're here, there must be a way out."
Just then, Steve looked into the distance and exclaimed, "Look there! It looks like Lu Ning and the Saint?"
Everyone looked up and gazed in that direction.
Then, in the wilderness not far away, they saw two familiar figures.
It was Lu Ning and Saint Qinglan.
Like An Lan and the others, the two were observing this wilderness.
An Lan said, "Let's go take a look!"
The group nodded and walked towards Lu Ning and the other person.
Lu Ning and Saint Qinglan had obviously already spotted the group and were waiting in place.
When the group reunited, Saint Qinglan smiled slightly: "I knew you would definitely come down next."
An Lan chuckled: "So you guys were just waiting for us here?"
Saint Qinglan looked at Lu Ning and said, "It was Lu Ning who stayed here to wait first."
Everyone looked at Lu Ning.
Lu Ning calmly said, "I think if I can't go back, Saint Qinglan will probably come too."
An Lan grinned and said, "Haha, it seems you still trust us quite a bit?"
Lu Ning didn't speak, his gaze sweeping over the group before he asked with some confusion, "Where's Nan Yu?"
Lu Ning did not believe that Nan Yu would desert his post, as the two had fought side by side.
Lu Ning naturally knew that Nan Yu was not that kind of person.
“I left him outside so that he could transmit the information from the fog should we be unable to return.”
Hearing this, Lu Ning nodded slightly and said nothing more.
An Lan glanced at the two of them and asked, "You came in before us, did you find anything?"
Saint Qinglan said, "I entered a little before you, how could I have discovered anything?"
After he finished speaking, he paused and looked at Lu Ning, saying, "Lu Ning said there's something ahead."
Upon hearing this, everyone looked at Lu Ning.
Lu Ning nodded and looked ahead.
Although there was no visible white fog over the wilderness, in Lu Ning's view, the fog was extremely thick.
The densest area was right in front of them.
Lu Ning wasn't sure of the exact location, but he suspected that the white mist covering the entire wilderness was emanating from that direction.
An Lan stroked the silver bracelet, took out a series of instruments from it, and began to examine them.
However, An Lan quickly frowned.
"No, the instrument is experiencing severe interference; it's displaying gibberish. Perhaps it's due to spatial issues in this area."
Saint Qinglan glanced at the garbled code on the instrument and said speechlessly, "These technological devices are still unreliable; they can break down in an instant. Someone with Lu Ning's abilities is much better."
An Lan was a little embarrassed, then retorted, "You can't say that. Lu Ning's ability to see mental pollution is so rare, but the equipment doesn't have the same capabilities to make it accessible to more people. As for reliability... Qing Lan, do you think the situation we're facing now is common?"
Upon hearing this, Saint Qinglan fell silent for a moment.
Indeed, their current situation is rare even in the entire Mist Era.
"Let's go, Lu Ning, you show us the way, let's go see what you're talking about."
Saint Qinglan changed the subject.
Lu Ning nodded and led the group toward the area shrouded in dense fog that he had seen.
There were no figures wandering in the wilderness where they had previously appeared.
But as they headed toward the location Lu Ning had indicated, they gradually drew closer to the strolling figures.
Upon closer inspection, Lu Ning and the others were able to clearly see the figures.
Whether human or animal, they were all lifeless corpses.
Some of the corpses were not yet decomposed, while others were already rotting, and some even emitted a foul stench.
These corpses, which clearly showed no signs of life, were now walking as if they were alive.
Perhaps because Lu Ning and the others were so close, these corpses sensed the presence of living people.
After a distance, they looked up in the direction of Lu Ning and the others.
