The altar was now split in two, and Aska's body lay on it.
The three searched Aska's body and found the high-risk Horcrux he had left behind.
In addition, a ring was found on him with an eye pattern engraved on it.
“It’s a token of a high-ranking saint of the Moon Goddess Cult.” Yaen put the ring away. “Bringing it back to headquarters can earn me some merit.”
They found nothing else.
Yaen frowned and said, "There are no clues."
Osiris thought for a moment and said, "I can only go back and interrogate Ye Ming. I have a feeling that the Pale Earth has some plans of the Moon Goddess Cult. The contents of the previous diary make me uneasy."
Yann nodded slightly in agreement.
Since they couldn't find any clues, they had no choice but to leave.
Before leaving, the three of them destroyed the altar even more thoroughly to prevent the Moon Goddess Cult from finding it and repairing it.
Back with Aishalin and the others, Yann looked at Lu Ning and An Lan: "Are there still highly polluted areas here?"
An Lan had already been fiddling with her detection equipment.
He shook his head and said, "Nothing was found."
An Lan glanced around and shook her head: "No."
Yane nodded, then said, "Everyone, recover for a bit, then head back the way we came to find another area with a higher concentration of mental pollution."
"good."
Everyone nodded.
After resting for a few hours, they set off and returned along the same route.
A few days later, they saw the metallic fog wall again.
Following the same method, they passed through the fog wall and entered the dense fog once again.
After entering the dense fog, Lu Ning spotted another area with intense mental pollution, which was also detected by An Lan.
The group moved toward another area with a high level of mental pollution.
After moving within the fog wall for several days, they soon arrived at the edge of another fog wall.
Across from the fog wall lies that area rife with mental pollution.
As before, Lu Ning first checked the situation on the other side of the fog wall.
Under Su Qi's energy shield, Lu Ning poked his head out from the edge of the fog wall.
As soon as he peeked out from the edge, Lu Ning smelled a rotten stench, a strange fishy smell, and a strange mixture of other odors.
Although the smell was unpleasant, Lu Ning assessed it and found that it wasn't too harmful.
He looked around; beyond the fog wall lay a rotting black swamp.
The ground was covered with thick, black mud, in which some rotting animal and plant remains floated.
There were also some small insects flying around the wreckage.
Some trees also grew on the mud. The trees were extremely lush and looked somewhat fleshy. Some of the trees even had fruit growing on them.
The fruit is somewhat similar to a baby, entirely blood red, and emits a sweet, exotic fragrance.
Lu Ning glanced at the fruit and felt that it had a strange attraction, as if it wanted Lu Ning to pick it and eat it quickly.
This is spiritual pollution.
However, it was not a threat to Lu Ning.
Apart from that, Lu Ning did not notice anything else unusual.
He pulled his head back and turned to look at An Lan and the others who were looking at him expectantly.
"There's nothing particularly threatening. That's a swamp with a high level of mental pollution, a bit higher than the previous pale land, but still tolerable for high-level awakened beings. We haven't seen any calamity beasts or mutated beings yet, but there's a kind of tree that looks quite strange; its fruit has a peculiar attraction."
As Lu Ning explained, everyone's expressions relaxed somewhat.
Then An Lan said, "If there's no threat, let's go in."
The group, protected by Su Qi's shield, passed through the metallic barrier of the fog wall and entered the interior.
As soon as they stepped on the ground, they felt a sticky sensation under their feet, and a strong smell filled their nostrils.
When everyone looked down, they found themselves standing in a muddy mess and sinking little by little.
"Aisalyn, freeze the area around you," Yarne said seriously.
Aishalin nodded, about to take action, when a powerful mental fluctuation suddenly came from below.
Then the mud in front of Steve's location exploded, and a monster made up of multiple rotting remains rushed out.
The monster's skeletal claws, covered in mycelium and dripping with mud, swung towards Steve.
Steve transformed into metal and delivered a powerful kick to the monster.
boom!
The monster was sent flying backwards like a cannonball.
An Lan, standing nearby, conjured a deep blue soul crystal energy cannon and blasted it at the monster in the sky.
The monster's body was instantly disintegrated and scattered across the mud.
Lu Ning and the others clearly saw that as the monster's body was decomposed, the bacteria on the corpse fragments wriggled away from the fragments as if they were alive and sank into the mud.
This discovery made An Lan frown, and she said, "These aggregated remains are not the real monsters; the monsters are probably those bacteria."
Everyone nodded slightly.
Aishalin froze the mud in front of them, and then the group stepped onto the frozen mud.
That's when you feel grounded.
After stepping onto the frozen mud, the group scanned their surroundings with wary expressions.
They were somewhat worried that the bacteria would continue to attack them.
However, the entire mud swamp was calm, and it was unclear whether the bacteria were lurking in the shadows or had already left.
While remaining vigilant for potential attacks, everyone also looked around.
Soon, they saw the giant tree that Lu Ning had described, and the fruits on the tree that looked like babies.
