Chapter 364 The Earth is Alive

Even Lu Ning felt a little heavy-hearted upon hearing Yan Bing's words.

To be honest, the gap between humanity and these civilizations is enormous.

The fog may affect some technologies, but not all of them. For example, while nuclear weapons are no longer usable, most technologies are still usable, and even if they are not, alternatives can be found.

Presumably, other civilizations were the same.

A civilization that spans hundreds of thousands of light-years must possess extremely powerful features.

Putting aside everything else, destroying a star would probably be an easy task.

Yet such a powerful civilization was swallowed up by the mist.

Lu Ning originally thought that although the mist was strong, its intensity should still be acceptable.

Now it seems that the intensity is a bit terrifying.

Lu Ning pondered for a moment, then asked, "Lord Yan Bing, do you know how those powerful civilizations were destroyed? Their strength was so great, what happened to them that caused them to be swallowed by the mist?"

So far, the evil god has shown great strength, but he probably can't do this yet, right?

Yan Bing shook his head: "I don't know. Although I have had contact with top civilizations, most of the older generation who experienced the destruction of their civilizations have died. The younger generation doesn't know much about the situation back then, and they don't know what they were facing."

Upon hearing this, both Lu Ning and Ya En frowned.

Ya'en couldn't help but say, "Isn't this a bit strange? If it's a matter of civilizational inheritance, why not tell this history to future generations? At the very least, let them know what happened back then so they can take precautions in the future, right?"

Arn didn't quite understand. If it were a human, wouldn't they record these failures and use them to inspire future generations?

Lu Ning and Ya En shared the same idea. Putting aside everything else, Lu Ning's homeland in the old era had very detailed records of modern history.

If we don't even know the reasons for failure, how can we prevent it in the future?

Yan Bing shook her head: "I asked, but they said the elders don't tell them."

"Why?" Yann frowned, somewhat puzzled.

Yan Bing thought for a moment, then guessed, "...maybe they are a little worried."

"Worried? Worried about what?"

"I'm worried that if I reveal what happened back then, my location will be locked, and there will be problems in the Land of Return to the Ruins."

Lu Ning and Ya En exchanged a glance, a look of surprise appearing in their eyes.

Ya'en swallowed hard, somewhat puzzled: "...Just because I recounted what happened back then, my location will be locked? Even the Land of Ruins can't stop me?"

Yan Bing's expression was serious as he said, "The being in the mist is stronger than you imagine."

Yaen fell silent.

This was a possibility he had never even considered.

After Yan Bing finished speaking, Ya En fell silent.

Then, still somewhat unwilling to give up, he asked, "Is there really no way to deal with the mist?"

Yan Bing paused for a moment, then said, "Perhaps there is a sliver of hope."

Arn's eyes lit up, and he immediately asked, "Where is the hope?"

Yan Bing began, “From what I’ve learned in the Ruins of Return, there are differences between Earth and the Exile civilization. When those Exile civilizations were swallowed by the mist, no defensive barriers appeared. But Earth does have them.”

"Logically speaking, given humanity's strength, once the mist begins to engulf, it would probably destroy humanity completely in no time, leaving no chance for development. However, because of the barrier, humanity has withstood the mist's invasion for over two thousand years. Even top races like the Void Insects couldn't last that long back then."

"Although we don't know how that barrier appeared or why it exists on Earth, the existence of such a barrier means that the entity that created it must be extremely powerful, perhaps even capable of protecting human civilization?"

As Yan Bing spoke, Ya En's expression changed continuously.

He smiled wryly and said, "But none of us know how that barrier appeared, do we?"

Yan Bing nodded: "Perhaps we can look in this direction."

Lu Ning listened to Yan Bing's words and looked thoughtful.

He originally thought the barrier was a defense established by the revitalized Earth, but now it seems that may not be the case.

After all, when Lu Ning was in the mist, he saw that even the moon, the sun, and other planets had been corroded and mutated.

Earth is just a planet; how could it possibly withstand the corrosive effects of the mist? Let alone build a barrier that could resist the mist for two thousand years.

Perhaps, this barrier was built by some other being?

Of course, it's also possible that Earth is special?

While Lu Ning was pondering, a bold idea suddenly came to him.

I wonder if I can communicate with Earth, which is crying out for help?

If we had the chance to communicate with Earth, which is crying out for help, perhaps we could get some clues?

While Lu Ning was thinking, both Ya En and Yan Bing noticed the changes in Lu Ning's expression.

Ahn asked, somewhat puzzled, "Lu Ning, what's wrong?"

Lu Ning snapped out of his reverie and said, "Actually, the Earth is alive."

Yaen: "???"

Yan Bing: "..."

When Ya'en heard Lu Ning's words, he was stunned for a moment, and then felt a chill run through his body, his scalp tingled, and cold sweat poured down his back.

Is the Earth alive?

How is that possible?!

Not to mention Ya'en, even Yan Bing, who is usually calm, was astonished at this moment.

She clearly hadn't expected Lu Ning to say that.

After a moment of silence, Ya'en quickly said, "Lu Ning, what are you talking about? How could Earth be alive??"

Lu Ning said calmly, "You should know that I can see different things, such as the moon being covered with eyeballs and the sun having tentacles."

Lu Ning was not attacked for saying these things at this moment.

It was obvious that because Lu Ning was currently shrouded in mist, the moon and sun probably couldn't sense that Lu Ning was talking about them behind their backs.

Yann nodded.

He had heard about this.

Lu Ning continued, "From the moment I stepped out of the fog and onto the ground, I heard Earth's cry for help."

Yaen gasped.

Yan Bing couldn't help but purse her lips.

Lu Ning continued, "When I learned about the barrier, I wondered if it was created by Earth. Now it seems that's probably not the case. So I'm thinking, it would be great if there were any hope of communicating with Earth."

To be honest, if anyone else had said that, Yann would probably have thought they were crazy.

Even saints are no exception.

Even if it were a guardian saying this, Yaen felt he would be skeptical, but it was Lu Ning who said it.

During this time, they had been comrades-in-arms who had entrusted each other with life and death, and Ya'en was already very clear about Lu Ning's abilities.

Lu Ning couldn't possibly be insane.

Since Lu Ning wasn't crazy, what he said wasn't just rambling nonsense, but the truth.

The Earth is truly alive!

Moreover... Lu Ning even wanted to talk to that thing!
