Lu Ning and the others fell silent after hearing the man's words.
Lu Ning then asked, "Where is that Fallen Incense Burner?"
The man looked at Lu Ning in surprise: "That's a high-risk soul artifact. You'll die if you go there. You might not even be able to withstand the mental radiation it emits."
Lu Ning calmly said, "I'll go over there; they won't."
Upon hearing this, Qiu Yuelin opened her mouth as if to say something, but ultimately remained silent.
Qiu Yuelin understood her own strength; even the mental radiation from a high-risk soul weapon was enough to make her sick.
Wang Yan and Qi Wu didn't say much. The fact that they had survived for so long as free awakeners meant they had a clear understanding of their own strength.
The man paused for a moment before speaking, "The Fallen Incense Burner was originally located in the area where incense research was conducted, on the sixth floor."
Lu Ning nodded slightly: "I understand."
He then looked around and asked, "Are there any other survivors here?"
The man shook his head: "I don't know. We didn't find any other survivors at first. But we came down from the third floor. We've never been up to the third floor. And... you've brought quite a few people here, haven't you? Maybe some new people will come in."
"Then how can we eliminate spatial segmentation?"
"We need to find the Phantom Astral Plane, but I don't know where it is right now."
Lu Ning thought for a moment and realized he had no other questions.
He said, "The patients here have all been cleared out. You can rest here. We'll be leaving now."
The man forced a smile at Lu Ning and said, "Lu Ning, I knew you were extraordinary from the last time. Perhaps you can survive. Good luck."
Lu Ning said calmly, "I will not die."
The man didn't say much, but looked at the woman lying on the ground and reached out to tidy her messy hair.
Lu Ning said no more and turned to leave.
Qiu Yuelin and the other two quickly followed.
After the group had walked along the corridor for a while, a gunshot suddenly rang out behind them.
Lu Ning and the others stopped in their tracks.
Lu Ning turned her head and saw the man holding the woman, the two of them embracing and falling to the ground as if they were asleep.
Qiu Yuelin covered her mouth, her eyes red.
Wang Yan, standing to the side, sighed, "I really didn't expect this..."
Qi Wu glanced at the two of them, then said, "Shall we go?"
Lu Ning nodded, and the group continued on their way.
The headquarters of the Bureau of the Mist covers a large area, with intricate corridors on each floor.
They searched along the corridors one by one and found some more patients with the disease.
However, no survivors have been found.
The man had said that his entire team had died.
However, the members of the action team who came in with Lu Ning and the others did not come to their space.
"Let's go to the third floor." Lu Ning walked towards the stairwell.
Just then, space distorted, and a phantom image appeared in front of Lu Ning and the others.
It was a scene of several awakened individuals being besieged by a group of infected individuals.
The number of infected individuals was large, and the group of awakened individuals were surrounded in the middle. Although they fought hard, they still could not withstand the attack.
A young man was grabbed by the arm by a muscular giant and dragged from the defensive circle into the group of diseased people.
He screamed in terror and despair, "Ah! Help me!"
However, the next moment, he was torn to pieces.
Qi Wu's lips twitched, and he said in a hoarse voice, "It's Reagan! Some of the others are friends who came with us earlier!"
Wang Yan's face was pale, and her body trembled slightly.
She watched the illusory afterimage and saw that after Reagan's death, a gap appeared in the defense circle, and the defense formed by the other awakened ones was quickly broken. All the awakened ones were devoured by the mutated ones.
Limbs and severed arms flew wildly through the air, and blood gushed out.
It was incredibly tragic.
Qiu Yuelin bent over and dry heaved, her body trembling slightly, a look of fear appearing in her eyes.
Only Lu Ning remained calm, watching the illusory afterimage.
He said, "This must be an image projected using the power of that illusory astral plane. It's probably made by that fallen incense burner."
Qiu Yuelin asked in disbelief, "Why would the Soul Weapon do that?"
Lu Ning glanced at her and said, "It's to instill fear. In fear, the mind gradually collapses, and the disease becomes easier to cure."
Wang Yan and Qi Wu were struck dumb.
A look of terror appeared in their eyes.
Wang Yan swallowed hard, somewhat incredulously saying, "...A soul weapon, actually has such an idea?"
Qi Wu trembled slightly: "So, does that mean we're all being manipulated by it?!"
Lu Ning shook his head: "It's not that bad. If it were really that powerful, it wouldn't have resorted to these petty tricks."
However, the next moment, the afflicted person in the illusory afterimage slowly turned into a physical entity and appeared in the corridor.
The infected, covered in blood from their recent slaughter, all turned their gazes toward Lu Ning and his companions with terrifying and fierce eyes.
The sudden appearance of these infected individuals caused Akizuki Rin to hold her breath.
Wang Yan and Qi Wu couldn't help but take two steps back.
Lu Ning remained calm as he picked up his two pistols.
Gunshots rang out in the corridor, followed by a thunderous roar.
In less than a minute, the infected individuals who had previously torn apart a group of awakened individuals had turned into corpses, filling the corridor.
Lu Ning calmly reloaded his dual pistols, then looked at Qiu Yuelin and the other two behind him.
"Judging from the current situation, the Fallen Incense Burner has the ability to bring diseased individuals from other spatial dimensions into our dimension. Be careful."
