A piercing scream, accompanied by the booming sound of metal colliding, came from inside the locked room.
The wall of the room near the corridor bulged out from time to time, as if it had been struck with great force from the inside.
The roar lasted for almost a minute, and blood continued to flow from the crack in the door before the shrill screams finally disappeared.
The room became unusually quiet.
Looking at the quiet, illusory afterimage, Wang Yan and Qiu Yuelin were both tense, their foreheads covered in cold sweat, their eyes fixed on the locked room.
Just then, a loud boom rang out, and a large hole was punched in the alloy wall, from which a ferocious monster emerged.
It was a tall, humanoid creature, nearly three meters in height.
This humanoid creature was covered in black feathers, and its head was shaped like a ferocious bird, with only a vague resemblance to Talon.
Lu Ning looked at the humanoid monster that Tailong had transformed into, and a ripple appeared in his eyes.
Wang Yan's expression changed drastically, filled with both sorrow and fear: "It's Boss Tailong?! He... how did he become like this?!"
Qiu Yuelin wasn't very familiar with Tailong, but in the few times they interacted, she knew that this uncle was a kind-hearted person.
Seeing Tailong in this state, Qiu Yuelin's eyes also reddened slightly, but she was also terrified.
"Brother Lu Ning... Will Uncle Tailong come over?"
As soon as Qiu Yuelin finished speaking, space distorted, and the mutated person that Tailong had become appeared in the corridor.
When Tyrone saw Lu Ning and the other two suddenly appear, a murderous intent flashed in his originally cold eyes.
He let out a low growl, and purple lightning gradually appeared among his black feathers.
The next moment, he seemed to transform into a bolt of lightning, instantly appearing beside Lu Ning, his sharp claws sweeping towards Lu Ning.
The lightning-crackling claws were blocked by the blood-red shield, but in just a moment the shield shattered, and the claws swept towards Lu Ning's face.
Lu Ning raised his hands to block, and white light flashed on his hands.
With a deafening roar, Lu Ning and Tai Long were both sent flying backwards.
The spot where the two had been standing was now deeply sunken.
Lu Ning crashed into the metal wall, glanced at his arm that had been torn apart by the force of the impact, and saw the wound on his arm heal in the blink of an eye.
He looked calmly at the infected person that Tyrone had transformed into, and said calmly, "I'll see you off."
The infected being that Tyrone had transformed into seemed to have lost consciousness. With bloodthirsty eyes, he charged towards Lu Ning once again.
However, at that moment, his body suddenly stopped, as if he had been controlled.
Then, Tyrone's originally ferocious face twisted and struggled, and gradually began to resemble its original appearance again.
Upon seeing this, Wang Yan exclaimed, "Boss Tailong? Is that you?! Can you recover?"
Tyrone's eyes were clear as he glanced at the three of them before looking at Lu Ning.
He forced a smile: "Kid... apologize to Old Lin for me, I have to go now. I promised, I won't trouble you!"
Lu Ning's eyes flickered, but before he could speak, Tyrone's claws forcefully pierced his skull.
Perhaps because Talon himself was so powerful, the monsters he spawned were equally powerful.
Even with a stab wound to the head, it still carries a life force.
However, then, lightning crackled all over Talon's body, and the violent power of lightning poured directly into his head through the wound.
Tyrone's ferocious body trembled a few times before slowly collapsing to the ground.
After falling to the ground, Talon's originally ferocious body gradually returned to human form.
In Lu Ning's view, the originally dense white mist inside his body gradually dissipated, and he finally regained his clarity.
Lu Ning paused for a moment, then stepped forward, took off his blood-stained trench coat, and covered Tai Long with it, concealing his body, which was torn apart by the disease and could not be covered by his tattered clothes.
He picked up Tyrone's body and placed it in a undisturbed room to the side.
He then walked out of the room and said to Wang Yan and Qiu Yuelin, who were also silent at the door, "Let's go."
Wang Yan didn't move. She looked at Tailong's body and said, "Commander Lu Ning, you and Xiaolin should go."
Lu Ning looked at Wang Yan, somewhat puzzled.
Wang Yan brushed a strand of hair aside, her gaze distant, and recalled, "When I first awakened, I knew nothing about the world of Awakened Ones, and I didn't dare join the Mist Bureau. I was very lost at the time, and I was very grateful to Boss Tyron. He helped me a lot. I can't just leave his body here like this."
“My strength is limited, and I probably won’t be of much help along the way. I want to take Boss Tyrone’s body with me.”
Upon hearing this, Qiu Yuelin paused for a moment before saying, "I'll stay with you, Sister Wang Yan. Brother Lu Ning, if I continue to follow you, I'll only be a burden. So I won't go with you."
Lu Ning glanced at the two of them and nodded: "Okay."
Wang Yan picked up Tai Long's body, and Qiu Yuelin, carrying a battle axe, followed behind Wang Yan. The two walked back along the way they had come.
Lu Ning watched the two disappear into the corridor, then turned back and went deeper inside.
Lu Ning understood that even if he could deal with all the infected individuals, the ever-increasing level of mental pollution was something the two of them couldn't withstand if Wang Yan and Qiu Yuelin continued to follow him.
Although going back would also pose a risk of encountering infected individuals, it would be relatively safer than continuing to follow Lu Ning.
Without needing to consider Wang Yan and Qiu Yuelin, Lu Ning's progress actually accelerated.
He didn't need to worry about ambushes by the infected; even if they were injured or killed, it was a trivial matter to Lu Ning.
