Chapter 248: Niece is Better
"Xiaobao, go in and find a shovel."
He glanced at Xiaobao, and the little girl sensibly jumped down from the eaves. Ling Ran quickly caught her, opened the door and let Xiaobao go in.
This was Xiaobao's first time here and also his first time going in. He had no idea what was inside. There were a lot of "ping pong" sounds coming from inside. Xiaobao hadn't come out for a long time, so Ling Ran had no choice but to go in himself.
Although the gap is a bit small, it is a bit troublesome to get in.
"Sister, I didn't find it."
Seeing Ling Ran coming in, Xiaobao, who was lying on the ground searching, stuck out his tongue and smiled awkwardly.
"Silly girl."
"Blame me."
Ling Ran then remembered that his bedroom door was not open and his tools and other things were hidden under his bed.
"You sit in here and see if the TV can still be turned on."
"I'll go out and do it."
Taking out a handy shovel, Ling Ran said to Xiaobao.
I don’t know if the TV is broken since it hasn’t been used for so long.
At least before Ling Ran walked out, he saw that the TV that had just been turned on was dark and damp, but Xiaobao didn't mind and was watching GG very intently.
"You help too."
After blessing the snow fox again, Ling Ran started working.
Knowing my own capabilities, it is definitely impossible for me to clean up the snow in the entire yard by myself.
So Ling Ran’s goal was simple, to open a way out from the living room, and then open up the kitchen.
Although the little guy in her belly always tormented her, Ling Ran was still very careful, fearing that he would hurt her accidentally.
The workload was enormous. In this freezing weather, Ling Ran was sweating profusely before he could create a path that was just big enough for her to pass through.
As for the kitchen, Ling Ran gave up.
It looked quite tidy inside, with traces of the time Mo Wen cooked a phoenix chicken, except that the chimney had been blocked tightly.
"well."
With a sigh, it seems like I have to use the old method, which is to light a fire in the stove and let the high temperature melt the snow inside.
Just do it. You're all sweaty now, so why not boil some water and take a shower?
Because the chimney was blocked, the thick smoke had no way of getting out and choked Ling Ran to death.
It was already midnight when I finished all this.
After taking another shower, when I returned to the living room, as expected, Xiaobao was already asleep on the sofa.
"I've neglected it again."
Ling Ran smiled helplessly. There were so many things piling up that he had completely forgotten about this little girl.
He carried her to the bed, took off her clothes gently, wiped her body with a towel, and then Ling Ran leaned against her to sleep.
Coming back here is like returning to childhood life. Ling Ran is undoubtedly diligent. At least he gets up when Xiaobao is still sleeping.
In a big pot, I am cooking something for offering sacrifice to grandma later.
Fortunately, the chicken she bought yesterday had already been killed and cleaned. Otherwise, even if Ling Ran was mentally strong, she had never killed a chicken before.
A faint fragrance wafted into Xiaobao's nose, startling him.
The little girl put on her clothes by herself and came to the kitchen, looking at Ling Ran embarrassedly.
"Sister, I'm sorry for bothering you last night."
"It's okay. It's quite smoky here. Go wash your face outside and we'll go up the mountain."
Eat breakfast? What a joke, Ling Ran never had the habit of eating breakfast here, let alone the intention of doing so.
Xiaobao wasn’t very hungry, so he went out happily with the basin in his hand.
Ling Ran took out a whole chicken and a piece of pork from the pot and placed them in a basin, then took down the incense and candles from the wall.
"Sister, will grandma dislike me?"
Following Ling Ran on this rugged mountain road, Xiao Bao became even more worried.
"How could that be?"
"Grandma likes children very much."
Ling Ran turned around and comforted her with a smile.
“Yeah.”
The little girl was relieved this time. After all, she hadn't seen her grandmother for more than ten years. Gu Hanyan had also told her countless times that her father had family but did not take them back. The reason was self-evident.
On a platform at the top of the mountain, Ling Ran and Xiao Bao stood in front of their grandmother's grave.
The tomb has been buried by heavy snow, and the words on the tombstone can be vaguely seen.
After placing the offerings, the incense and candles finally lit up after being extinguished countless times in the cold wind.
“Sister, aren’t we going to kneel down?”
Xiao Bao had never worshipped anyone before, but he knew that he should kneel down. But why was Ling Ran just standing there?
"No, grandma is very kind."
"I don't like others kneeling."
Ling Ran chuckled.
"Grandma, see, this is Xiaobao."
"I brought her to see you today."
Then Ling Ran smiled at the tomb again, she believed that her grandmother would be able to hear it. Originally she was an atheist, but now, with immortals and so on, she was more convinced that her grandmother would be able to see it.
So she didn't feel that heavy, because her grandmother could see her anyway, it was just that she couldn't see her grandmother.
"Grandma, I'm Xiaobao, I'm here to see you."
Xiaobao also said with a serious face, "She is very well-behaved and lovely."
The two stood here for a while, but not for long.
After all, there is nothing here except sorrow. All the things worth remembering are in Ling Ran's head. As for Xiaobao, he has never seen his grandmother, so how can there be any deep feelings between them?
Carrying the offerings, the two returned home.
In the small mountain village, everything is quiet and the pace is very slow.
Apart from a little work, there is only enjoyment.
Most of the people who stay here are the elderly, women and children.
Sitting on the eaves with Xiaobao and looking down at the surrounding environment from a high vantage point, Ling Ran felt that he had entered the life of retirement ahead of time.
It’s all because of the baby in my belly. I calculated and it’s only been about four months. How come it feels like eight or nine months?
"Xiaobao, do you think your niece will show up early?"
Ling Ran himself didn't know what was in his mind, and he suddenly asked this question.
"It's very likely."
"My brother-in-law is extraordinary, and my sister is also amazing."
"This should be the first child of a pair of immortal cultivators. It cannot be explained by common sense."
Ling Ran said it as a joke, but Xiao Bao answered it very seriously.
“That’s right.”
"Who knows what the situation is."
Ling Ran looked at his stomach and muttered to himself.
This little guy is growing so fast, maybe he will be born prematurely.
If that day really comes, it would be nice to be free as soon as possible.
But when he thought of that day, Ling Ran felt uncomfortable all over.
After the child is born, you have to take care of her, then send her to kindergarten, and so on.
Until she grew up.
