Chapter 3 Starting Over
Like a clear spring flowing in a mountain stream, like the warm sunshine in the cold winter.
In the ice coffin, Mo Wen heard Ling Ran's voice countless times, and guessed countless times what this girl looked like. Even though he had already made many plans in his mind, the moment he saw Ling Ran, the wall in Mo Wen's heart collapsed.
"Are you…are you alive or dead?"
Ling Ran reacted and pointed at Mo Wen in astonishment.
She once suspected whether there was a person lying in the ice coffin, but who would have thought that the guy inside would actually crawl out and stand in front of her so vividly!
"I don't know either. I think he's alive."
Mo Wen was amused by Ling Ran's appearance. He shrugged his shoulders helplessly and smiled with his hands spread out.
He didn't know whether he was dead or alive. In the world-destroying war, all the powerful cultivators died one after another. He luckily escaped. His soul was reincarnated day and night. Only in the last ten years when Ling Ran came, Mo Wen could feel his existence.
"Did you create the energy fluctuations outside the circle?"
Ling Ran swallowed and took a step back to keep a safe distance from Mo Wen.
"That should be it."
Mo Wen saw Ling Ran's little movements clearly, but seeing that the girl became alert, Mo Wen said again.
"Don't worry, after entering the circle, I feel like an ordinary person, powerless."
Mo Wen looked very relaxed, but it was just to put Ling Ran at ease.
As a cultivator, losing power is undoubtedly more terrifying than losing life.
Outside the circle, Mo Wen could still sense the chaotic true energy and even absorb it, but after stepping into the circle, the spiritual energy seemed to be stable and could not be absorbed, making Mo Wen instinctively want to retreat.
But the familiar smell still lingered around. Under this temptation, Mo Wen followed the smell and knocked on the gate of Ling Ran's house. Then he was inexplicably invited in by the attentive grandmother.
While waiting for Ling Ran to come back, Mo Wen also got a general idea of the current situation from TV.
After sleeping for a thousand years, the world has changed a long time ago!
"Who are you?"
Although Mo Wen did not seem to be in any danger, Ling Ran was still worried.
That kind of powerful energy that can destroy the world! Coupled with the mysterious ice coffin, Mo Wen is undoubtedly a big question mark in Ling Ran's eyes. Ling Ran is not so tolerant of such unstable factors being active around him.
"Mo Wen, I think it's the name you gave me."
Mo Wen smiled and said that he had long forgotten his previous name.
"Stop, stop. Where are you from? Where are you going? What are you doing?"
Ling Ran waved his hand unhappily to interrupt Mo Wen and glared at him fiercely.
Mo Wen was amused again by Ling Ran, who thought he was very fierce but was actually very cute. Facing Ling Ran, Mo Wen had an inexplicable dependence on him, so he told him everything he could remember without hesitation.
"I seem to be coming from Shudu. I don't know where I'm going. I should be considered a cultivator in the past."
"You...how old are you? Are you sure you are a cultivator? Not a psychic?"
As soon as Mo Wen finished speaking, Ling Ran's eyes almost fell out, and he pointed at Mo Wen and stuttered.
Shudu? Ling Ran might not have been able to react for a while before, but she had just read a history book. It was a place name in ancient China. As for the immortal cultivators, it was even more amazing!
How many years have the immortal cultivators been extinct?
Since the establishment of the federal government, countless archaeologists have tried to discover traces of the existence of immortal cultivators. However, apart from the magnificent records in ancient books, there is no substantial evidence to confirm that there really were immortal cultivators.
Therefore, scientists have long classified immortal cultivators as those powerful people with special abilities in ancient times.
"If you count the time I spent sleeping, I should be over a thousand years old, but I feel like I'm only 23."
Mo Wen smiled with his white teeth.
"I just learned about people with special abilities on TV. I was really surprised, but they are far inferior to those who practice immortal cultivation."
After Mo Wen finished speaking, the atmosphere fell into silence. Ling Ran was thinking and Mo Wen did not interrupt him.
The mountain village was very cozy at night, with lights flickering in each house. The occasional laughter made Mo Wen feel that he was a real existence, and he made up his mind to rely on Ling Ran.
"You'll be following me from now on."
"OK!"
In the end, the two people's ideas coincided, and Mo Wen of course agreed without hesitation!
As for Ling Ran, she was one of the few people who were curious about the mysteries of ancient China. Now that she had met a living fossil, she certainly couldn't suppress her strong curiosity!
And Mo Wen is also a cultivator! Maybe he can teach her how to cultivate immortality. When she becomes a peerless master, she can go outside the circle to find her parents!
When they went back, Ling Ran did not pull Mo Wen with him. He walked in front with his head held high, like a victorious rooster. Mo Wen had a smile on his face the whole time as he followed the girl closely, feeling more fulfilled than ever before.
"Let's start over again."
When Ling Ran took the lead in stepping into the courtyard, Mo Wen paused, then smiled and muttered to himself.
Then just adapt to the spirit of the circle again and start your life anew.
"Of course, who is he? I thought he was your boyfriend just now... but he doesn't look like that..."
As soon as Mo Wen entered, he heard his grandmother's curious question and noticed that his grandmother was secretly looking at him through Ling Ran.
"A homeless guy who is staying in our house temporarily."
Ling Ran said carelessly, then turned around and glared at Mo Wen before going into the room.
"Mo Wen, please take care of me."
Mo Wen remained as calm as ever, bowing slightly and speaking.
"Child, you are wearing so little. Look how cold your hands are. I will start knitting a sweater for you tomorrow."
Perhaps all older people are so enthusiastic. Grandma took two steps forward and grabbed Mo Wen's hand enthusiastically, which made Mo Wen, who instinctively wanted to pull his hand away, hold back.
"As long as you don't mind our poverty, you can live anywhere you want. Xiaoran is just like that. Don't mind."
Mo Wen wanted to speak, but he saw Ling Ran appear in front of him holding a thick sheet. The coldness in his eyes became even colder, so Mo Wen held back.
"At the door, in the woodshed! Go and tidy it up yourself."
Throwing the sheet to Mo Wen, Ling Ran dragged his grandmother back into the room, presumably to explain something.
Mo Wen didn't care about Ling Ran's temper at all. He tightened his arms around the quilt and walked towards the woodshed.
Although it was a woodshed, there were not many things piled up inside. There was just a pile of tree trunks neatly stacked in the corner, and the remaining space was just enough for a wooden bed.
Although the environment is not very good, Mo Wen feels it is very warm.
"Don't say anything that will ruin my reputation, or I won't take you in."
Just as Mo Wen took a quick look around and was about to pack up, Ling Ran stood at the door with his arms folded and made a "bad" threat.
"good."
