Chapter 37 Jinjiang's First Move, Mid-Game

Chapter 37 Jinjiang's First Move, Mid-Game

Qi Mu asked her, somewhat confused, "What are those ambiguous marks, and how do you remove them?"

Yao Sisi paused: "You don't even know this?"

Qi Mu felt awkward for a moment, as if he was upset about his ignorance: "I'm usually quite busy and haven't thought about getting married, so naturally I haven't paid attention to these things... I hope you won't look down on me, young lady?"

Yao Sisi: "..." I don't mind, but the way you're doing this... I don't know what to do.

Seeing her silence, Qi Mu obediently said, "It's enough that Miss Sisi understands these things; I don't need to know them myself."

Yao Sisi thought to herself: How can that be?

"You're making me feel like you're leading someone else's child astray! I'm feeling pressured..."

Qi Mu's long eyelashes trembled, like butterfly wings covered in pollen, radiating a lustrous glow in the dim moonlight.

"I'm not a child. Girl, do whatever you want!"

Seeing that he looked like he was ready to be taken advantage of, Yao Sisi not only didn't step forward but also took a step back. She paced around the room, wondering how to get away with it. Just then, she heard footsteps in the distance, which were very fast and aggressive, like a comet about to hit the earth.

Oh no! They're here!

She turned around abruptly, saying nervously, "There's no time to explain in detail, please forgive me!"

Qi Mu sat upright at the table. The young master was as handsome as jade, with a pair of bright, unblemished eyes. He gazed at you obediently, seemingly nervous, his body tense. Yet, in this atmosphere, he was saying alluring things that even he himself didn't understand.

"Miss Sisi, please do it, I can handle it..."

Yao Sisi was completely numb. She really didn't mean to do anything! Saying it like that made it sound like they were about to have a morally questionable fight…

She quickly moved the stool in front of him, put one arm around his waist, and positioned half of his body to the side so that anyone who came in could see him clearly as soon as they opened the door.

Qi Mu felt her hand on his body, pursed his lips and looked at her face, but she was only looking outside and listening to the sounds from elsewhere. Her hand on him felt no different than a wooden stake. He didn't know how he felt, but it was a bit bitter and uncomfortable, and he even forgot how nervous he was.

He raised his hand and tugged at his shirt, revealing once again the area she had just pulled open, his delicate and sexy collarbone hidden between the fabric.

As the footsteps drew closer, Yao Sisi timed it perfectly, took his other hand, and planted a kiss on his palm.

With a loud bang, the door was pushed open forcefully, and she even wondered if it had been kicked open.

Her lips were on the other's palm. The scene seemed less than romantic, but the atmosphere of mutual affection was strong and could easily be misunderstood.

She deliberately waited until the door opened for a moment, and only then did she abruptly release the gazes that were fixed on the two of them. She frowned and looked at the person who had entered, pretending to be disturbed.

The man outside the door looked to be around thirty years old, showing no signs of aging. He wasn't particularly handsome, but he was the kind of person whose looks grew on you. He had a rather aloof demeanor, and his appearance only bore a slight resemblance to Qi Mu.

When Yao Sisi looked at him, he was also looking at her. His eyes were cold and devoid of warmth. Even seeing them like this, he didn't change much, nor did he ask anything. But in an instant, a long whip appeared in his hand.

Yao Sisi raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why did you break into someone's house and brandish a weapon?"

Father Qi snorted coldly, and the whip came straight at the two of them, sneering, "You unfilial son! Where has all the etiquette I taught you gone? You're arguing with a young lady before you're even engaged, and you dare to deceive me about your marriage!"

The whip was fierce and powerful; if it struck, it would surely tear the skin and flesh. Yao Sisi reached out and pulled, and the two of them dodged the whip, but at the same time, they hugged each other tightly.

Qi Mu struggled and wanted to explain, but Yao Sisi stopped her. The man was obviously angry, and going over there now would only result in her getting beaten up.

She whispered in his ear, "He can't hear anything right now, so don't do anything that will make him feel bad."

Qi's father's whip missed its mark, not hitting the two people, but it swept across the back of the chair they had been sitting on. The chair shattered into pieces, with limbs scattered all over the ground, which showed how powerful the whip had been.

Yao Sisi felt a chill run down her spine as she thought: This person is so ruthless!

With a wave of his hand, Father Qi's door closed automatically behind him. The servants who rushed over only saw his angry clothes and had no idea what had happened.

He stood blocking the doorway, watching them huddle together, and shouted angrily, "Let go of each other!"

Yao Sisi pulled Qi Mu behind her. "This...uncle? If you have something to say, just say it. Holding a whip is too impulsive and will only hurt our relationship, won't it?"

Father Qi raised his chin: "What business is it of yours to interfere in my affairs!"

Yao Sisi was not intimidated by him. She stood up straight and said without any hesitation, "But Your Excellency is going to whip my fiancé, so of course I have to interfere."

Mr. Qi sneered, "Fiancé? Don't think I don't know what you've been doing behind my back!"

Yao Sisi's forehead was covered in sweat. This man was really aggressive, and besides, he was too young, which made her feel uneasy. She couldn't imagine that he was Qi Mu's father. She would believe it if he said he was his brother.

She held Qi Mu's hand tightly and explained, "We didn't do anything behind your back..."

Father Qi cracked his whip, as if searching for an angle to strike, his voice full of threat: "Is that so? Judging from your expressions, the marriage is really happening?"

Yao Sisi glanced back at Qi Mu, but he took it as a sign of distress. His expression turned ugly for a moment, and he didn't even dare to let her say anything she didn't want to hear.

He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Miss Sisi, how about I admit it? Don't worry, I'll protect you and get you out of this mess, even if it costs me my life. It was my fault for dragging you into this, and I'm the one who mishandled things and got punished. I deserve all of this."

He abruptly released Yao Sisi and knelt before the man in the blink of an eye: "Father, what do you want..."

Before he could finish speaking, Qi's father lashed out with a whip, which struck the young master's back. The gentle and mild-mannered young master staggered from the blow, but he endured it and remained kneeling with his back straight.

He held his breath and didn't rush to speak, afraid that his voice would change if he opened his mouth.

The whip had barely fallen when another lashed out. Yao Sisi saw with her own eyes that the man's eyes were bloodshot, as if he were possessed, and he seemed intent on killing her to silence her. She quickly threw a stool over to him, momentarily slowing the whip's blow, and with her other hand, she swiftly pulled the man up from the ground, grinding her teeth in his ear, "Are you insane?"

She gently supported his body and saw that his back was already stained with blood. The blood mixed with the tattered pieces of clothing stubbornly clung to the wound, making one's scalp tingle. Even in this state, he didn't know to dodge, thinking he would take a second hit!

How stupid!

Qi Mu said weakly, "It was my responsibility after all..."

Yao Sisi looked at Qi's father and said, "The marriage agreement is indeed true, so can you please put away the whip?"

Upon hearing her words, Qi Mu looked deeply into her eyes, which seemed to have been ravaged by a storm.

He pursed his lips as if he wanted to say something, but Yao Sisi covered his lips with two fingers together.

Father Qi: "Are you teaching me how to do things?"

"Ha, empty words are meaningless. I don't even know you, so why should I believe the marriage contract is real?" As he said this, a contract appeared out of thin air in his hand and slammed it down in front of the two of them.

"Is it based on that? Young man, I advise you not to lie to me, otherwise I won't mind helping you loosen up your muscles on behalf of your parents."

Not only did he not withdraw the whip from his hand, but he also swung it arrogantly, the crisp sound exploding in the air like an attack, full of power.

This attitude truly disregarded the couple's feelings, seemingly unconcerned about whether such actions would create enmity if the two were to actually marry. Yao Sisi glanced at the sweat on Qi Mu's forehead and the blood seeping from his back. He could treat his own child like this, seemingly unconcerned about whether they would become enemies or whether their marriage would be happy. He only cared about what he wanted.

That's so strange; she's never encountered anything like this before.

Yao Sisi said, "If that's the case, how can I convince you?"

Qi's father glanced at Qi Mu, his gaze cold and filled with a hint of disgust. "If you two really get married, then I'll naturally believe it."

Yao Sisi paused, not understanding what he meant.

Mr. Qi continued, "The engagement is cancelled, and the wedding date is moved up."

The matter seemed to have been settled. When Yao Sisi saw him take the person away, she couldn't help but rub her temples. Why was the engagement banquet moved up before? Now the wedding banquet has also been moved up. It's as if the engagement banquet is no longer needed.

Outside the mansion, Qi Mu followed closely behind his father. Suddenly, his father turned around and gave him a cold look: "You even schemed against me. How about it? Are you satisfied with this result?"

Qi Mu said, "Father, I dare not."

Qi's father's gaze grew even colder: "Don't put on that gentle act. It's disgusting and makes me want to vomit. Just like your mother, you spout righteousness and morality while actually profiting for yourself. How could I have given birth to such a superior child? Ha, that girl probably doesn't even know what you look like!"

Qi Mu lowered his eyes, the wound on his back throbbing slightly: "Father, what can I do to satisfy you?"

Father Qi snorted coldly, "I'll be grateful if you don't cause any trouble!"

He flicked the whip and put it back into his storage bag. "It's easy to operate if you store it well. If I had your skills back then, I wouldn't have ended up like this."

Qi Mu dared not speak, nor did he want to speak. He just lowered his head as if he were obediently being scolded.

Qi's father turned to look at him: "Who are you trying to impress with this attitude of being indifferent to the world? Are you trying to be disgusting enough?"

On the other side, Yao Sisi realized with frustration after everyone left that she hadn't paid enough attention to Qi Mu's mission before, and hadn't even bothered to investigate his upbringing, which led to her being caught off guard.

However, she really didn't intend to complete the mission properly, ignoring the spirit's words completely. She had done so before, and she planned to continue doing so in the future.

Although no contract was signed, Qi Mu should understand, right?
