After buying flowers at the entrance of the residential area, on my way back, I kept feeling like someone was watching me, but when I looked back, there was nothing there. Hua Hong asked me what was wrong, and I smiled and said I was being a little paranoid, feeling like someone was watching me from behind. Hua Hong looked back and said, "You really are quite sensitive, not even sparing an old man taking a walk. He's not looking at you at all; he's probably too busy looking for a twilight romance."
When we got home, Pengpeng was waiting for us to have dinner. I told him that after dinner I was going to go with Huahong to get his hair dyed. Pengpeng looked at Huahong's hair and said, "Why bother with all this? The color is fine as it is now."
I was wondering how to explain this to Pengpeng when Hua Hong spoke up first. He said he was tired of seeing red hair and thought black hair looked better and more natural. Pengpeng didn't say anything after hearing that, only telling us to come back early and not to wander around outside.
After dinner, I took Hua Hong to a design studio owned by an acquaintance in Beichen to get her hair done. After more than an hour of dyeing and touch-ups, Hua Hong woke me up from my nap and asked, "Hey, how do I look?"
Although Hua Hong had only dyed his hair, he gave me a completely different feeling than before. His short, black hair stood up straight with the gel, making his already handsome face look even more vibrant and sunny. He smiled brightly, his eyes radiating confidence. He turned his head to the left and right, and I was surprised to find that the shiny little things that used to be on his ears had been removed at some point.
Bending down, Hua Hong asked me with a smile, "How do I look?"
"Yeah, it looks great, even better than before, handsome guy!"
"Tch~" Hua Hong raised his chin dismissively, but the next second he smiled at me happily.
"Be objective, do I really look better than before?"
"Yes, I've always been a very honest person, and I never utter a single falsehood."
Hua Hong laughed even harder when he heard that.
Looking at him, I felt both happy and touched. Although Hua Hong in front of me didn't seem like the gentle and well-behaved young man Shi Ji had described, I had a very good feeling about him. He smiled so cheerfully, and his young body was full of vitality. I seemed to see his future, beautiful and bright.
"Haha, I believe you. Go pay the bill, you promised it's your treat."
I smiled and stood up to pay at the counter, while Hua Hong looked in the mirror, fiddling with his hair and admiring himself.
After leaving the hair salon, Hua Hong and I walked towards the parking lot, discussing whether we should go to Xidan to buy some simple clothes. Suddenly, Hua Hong stopped. I followed his surprised gaze and looked ahead, and to my surprise, I saw Xiao Wen. He was leaning against the hood of Hua Hong's car, giving me a cold, dangerous look.
I have a bad feeling that something bad will happen if I run into him.
Xiao Wen straightened up and said to Hua Hong with a forced smile, "I thought you were going somewhere to have fun with that guy surnamed Xia, but it turns out you just went to get your hair dyed. Hmm, not bad, it looks pretty good."
"Xiao Wen... What a coincidence! I didn't expect to run into you here. Are you out having fun alone?" Hua Hong asked him with a forced smile.
I felt something was off. What a coincidence! We just saw each other this morning, how could we run into each other again? And according to Xiaowen, it seems he saw Hua Hong and me a while ago.
"Play? Haha, I'm not in the mood for that. To be honest, I followed you two here." Xiaowen laughed loudly, and the more I looked at her, the more suspicious I felt.
“Following? What do you want to do?” I asked.
"Nothing much, just wanted to take a look. Hehe, you two are quite sweet, even buying flowers. Hua Hong, why have you never bought me flowers before?"
Hua Hong's expression changed immediately. He asked in shock, "Xiao Wen, you went to Xia Xiang's place?"
"Yeah, I've been following you guys ever since you left this morning. Hahaha, I just realized that older people are all really silly. I was hoping to see the three of you holding hands and kissing, but nothing happened. Sigh, how boring. Hey Hua Hong, don't you like that guy surnamed Xia? Why don't you make a move? Are you worried his wife will be unhappy?"
Hearing this, I felt my temper rising, and I tried my best to control myself, saying, "Are you asking for a beating again?"
Xiaowen was still smiling at me, but this time she didn't seem scared at all. Instead, she arrogantly gave me the middle finger.
"You're the one who's asking for a beating, you idiot!"
"Holy shit!"
Just as I was about to rush over, Hua Hong reached out and stopped me.
Don't go over there.
"What's wrong? If we don't teach this kid a lesson, he'll never know who his father is!"
After I finished speaking, I wanted to go over and teach Xiaowen a lesson, but Hua Hong stopped me again.
"Xia Xiang, don't go over there, I... I'm a little worried."
About ten meters away, Xiao Wen laughed again. He put his middle finger in his mouth with a lewd grin and said to me with half-closed eyes, "Has Hua Hong ever served you like this?"
"Fuck your mother!" I couldn't take it anymore, so I pushed Hua Hong aside and ran angrily towards Xiao Wen.
Xiaowen didn't dodge or flinch, and even leisurely said to me, "E on!"
I clenched my fists and told myself that I must smash his filthy mouth and his smug face!
When Xiaowen and I were only two meters apart, he stretched out his left hand, which had been hidden behind his back.
I could clearly see that his left hand was wrapped in a long gray cloth, and a small section of some metal that gleamed coldly was visible underneath.
I clearly heard Hua Hong chasing after me from behind, shouting my name, "Xia Xiang, come back quickly!"
I had a bad feeling, and I wanted to stop, but it was too late.
Ahead, Xiao Wen burst into maniacal laughter. He raised his left hand high, and a gleaming watermelon knife peeked out from under the gray cloth.
"Die, you bastard! You dare steal my man? I'll make you pay!"
The cold substance entered my body very easily, and it took me two seconds to feel the pain.
Suddenly my legs felt soft, and the world spun before my eyes.
I fell heavily to the ground, and Xiaowen frantically swung the knife at me again.
"If it weren't for you, Chili would never have left me. Dyeing your hair... Hahahaha, you think you can forget our past together? Not so easy! You surnamed Xia, I'll make you pay! Hahahaha."
My vision blurred, and I asked the blue sky above, "Am I going to die? Am I really going to die like this? I haven't bought Pengpeng a wedding ring yet, I haven't introduced him to my parents in Canada. How can I just die like this? And Hua Hong, his black hair really suits him. I'm going to go shopping with him for clothes, I'm still waiting to see his future. How can I... die?"
My eyelids felt heavy, and before the pain even began, I had already involuntarily closed my eyes.
The heart-wrenching voice of Hua Hong echoed in my ears, "No... Xia Xiang, Xia Xiang, Xia Xiang..."
