Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Chapter Summary: Why did Boss Li make something special for you?

Today's story begins with Yao Ye's older sister, Yao Qin.

That day, Yao Qin came across an article about Christmas markets online. She had just visited one with her fiancé a few days earlier and was deeply impressed, so she clicked to read it with great interest.

The stall was filled with a dazzling array of crystal balls, steaming red wine, and ginger tea; each accompanying picture evoked fond memories for Yao Qin. The article concluded with this:

"This is the grand opening of the Christmas market. As the most romantic event at the end of the year, it is the first choice for many young couples to go on a date."

Yao Qin chuckled, realizing she and her fiancé had caught up in the romance of young people. The post included several photos of young couples with Santa Claus. As Yao Qin looked at them, she suddenly frowned.

etc……

Why does this girl, who is snuggling up with her boyfriend, look so familiar?

Yao Qin pondered for a long time before suddenly slapping her thigh and remembering: Isn't this her sister's roommate, Su Yan?

It's worth noting that Yao Qin, Yao Ye's older sister, was practically like a second mother to her. When Yao Ye first entered university, Yao Qin often went to her dormitory to bring her snacks and bedding, and naturally, she met Su Yan a few times as well.

But if the girl in the photo is indeed Su Yan, then where is Yao Ye, who claimed to have been shopping with Su Yan that day? Looking closely, even the boy next to Su Yan looks somewhat familiar to Yao Qin. Where have they seen him before?

The complicated relationships between the people left Yao Qin completely bewildered. She was staring at the photo, pondering it over and over, when Teacher Liu Yue, who had just finished class, came over to her.

"Boss, what are you looking at so intently? Your face is practically pressed against the phone screen."

Liu Yue glanced at the photo as well. She didn't recognize Su Yan, but she immediately recognized the boy in it. "Hey, isn't this boy...?"

"You know him?" Yao Qin asked hurriedly.

“We all know him; he’s an employee of Kazamado.”

"Oh, right!" Yao Qin exclaimed suddenly, "It seems to be a young man surnamed Dong!"

In other words, on the first day of the Christmas market, Su Yan, who should have been shopping with Yao Ye, went there with Xiao Dong from Kazamado, acting like a couple. So, where did Yao Ye, who had asked her for leave that day, go, and who was she with?

As the eldest sister, Yao Qin couldn't help but activate her inner Sherlock Holmes, recalling her younger sister's previous behavior (suddenly asking for coupons and even unusually buying a push-up bra). Yao Qin naturally came to a conclusion.

My younger sister, Yao Ye, is in love, and it's a secret relationship. That day, she used Su Yan as an excuse to go on a date with her boyfriend.

Thinking of this, Yao Qin felt a mix of emotions. One moment she was happy that her younger sister had grown up and was beginning to experience the joys and sorrows of life; the next moment she was worried that her carefree sister might meet the wrong person and get hurt; one moment she wanted to jump up and question her sister; the next she forced herself to hold back, telling herself not to interfere with her sister's freedom to love like an old-fashioned person.

So, when Yao Ye, with a gentle spring breeze on her face, passed by, Yao Qin's features scrunched up, but in the end, she didn't ask anything.

Nevertheless, Yao Qin still wanted to secretly find out some clues in her own way.

………………

Yao Qin pondered for a long time, but still couldn't come up with a suspect.

A while ago, it seemed a boy had a crush on Yao Ye. He not only enrolled his sister in art classes but also frequently brought Yao Ye drinks. However, according to Yao Qin's later observations, the boy surnamed Hu didn't seem to have won Yao Ye's approval. In fact, the last few times he brought his sister to class, he would only give Yao Ye a perfunctory greeting at the front desk before going to the coffee shop to play games. There was no sign of them being in a relationship at all.

Removing this lead leaves only Su Yan and Xiao Dong. Yao Qin had little chance of meeting Su Yan, so she wanted to try her luck by going to Kazamado to see Xiao Dong.

That evening, Yao Qin went downstairs to Kazamado to buy drinks.

The shop owner, Li Fengjian, happened to be away (he had just taken Xiaomin upstairs to her art class), but Yao Qin didn't mind, since he wasn't her target anyway. After ordering, Yao Qin leaned against the bar and deliberately struck up a conversation with Xiao Dong, who was engrossed in making drinks.

"Xiao Dong, right? I think I saw your picture online today!" Yao Qin handed over her phone screen with a smile.

Xiao Dong turned around and looked on with surprise, "It really is! When we were taking photos that day, the reporter asked if it could be used in the press release, and it actually was!"

Xiao Dong was very excited and took out his phone to find the news, screenshotted it and saved it.

Yao Qin continued, "What a coincidence, I also know the girl you took a picture with. She's my sister's college roommate."

“Yes, it’s Su Yan,” Xiao Dong said shyly. “She’s my girlfriend now. Speaking of which, we have to thank Yao Ye. Su Yan was heartbroken when Yao Ye brought her to the shop for tea, and that’s how we met.”

"Oh, I see!" Yao Qin exclaimed with sudden realization, then followed up with, "Hey, so when you went to the Christmas market, you didn't bring my sister along as a third wheel, did you?"

“No,” Xiao Dong blurted out unconsciously, engrossed in admiring the photos, “That day the boss…”

He suddenly stopped talking at this point.

He originally meant to say, "The boss said he had an appointment with someone important that day, probably Yao Ye, and he wouldn't approve my leave because of it." But luckily, he stopped himself in time. Apparently, Yao Qin, as the older sister, was unaware of the progress between the boss and her younger sister, so Xiao Dong cleverly changed his words.

"My boss only gave me two hours off that day. We didn't even have time to explore on our own, so I didn't make any plans with anyone else."

"Oh..." Yao Qin nodded: Xiao Dong was quick to understand, and she had no doubts. She could only take the takeout bag and end this fruitless investigation.

Actually, it wasn't entirely fruitless. Yao Qin inserted the straw into the hot red wine milk tea she had casually ordered and found that the taste was unexpectedly good!

“This tastes good… wait, mulled wine milk tea,” she looked at the label, “does it contain alcohol?” She had to drive home from get off work.

"It's just mulled wine flavor," Aunt Sun said. "We considered that there might be children, pregnant women, or people who need to drive among our guests, so we didn't actually put any alcohol in."

After hearing this, Yao Qin took another deep breath, relieved. As she got on the elevator, she thought to herself: It really is delicious. No wonder my sister always orders milk tea from this place.

What she didn't know was that Yao Ye didn't need to order it herself if she wanted to drink it. With a few taps on her phone and a WeChat message, the owner delivered a specially customized milk tea to her door.

For example, that evening, Yao Ye only said one sentence on WeChat, "I've been introducing the course prices to the client for a long time, and now my mouth is dry." Li Fengjian immediately understood and, without saying a word, specially made a cup of hot red wine milk tea and eagerly went up to the fifth floor.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Yao Ye took a small sip from her cup, then glanced at him demurely. "You don't expect me to get drunk from just one cup of milk tea, do you?"

“I put a little more red wine in this glass tonight,” Li Fengjian said with a meaningful smile. “It won’t get you drunk, but I’m definitely worried about it.”

"What are you worried about?"

"I'm worried about you going home alone after get off work," Li Fengjian said confidently. "You have an early class tomorrow, so you'll probably take the subway back to your university dorm by yourself after get off work. I'm worried!"

“You seem to know quite a bit,” Yao Ye vaguely understood his little scheme. “Oh, no wonder you put extra red wine in my glass tonight, you did it on purpose!”

"In short, please let me take you back to your dorm." He said it without any room for argument.

"No need, it's just a cup of milk tea." She pretended to be indifferent, but couldn't help but smile.

Li Fengjian persisted, "I'll wait for you at the back door of Belle after you get off work. Don't worry, your sister goes directly to the underground parking garage, she won't run into us."

"Oh dear, wasn't this all premeditated? You even knew this!" Yao Ye protested in a low voice.

"I call this 'not fighting a battle unprepared'," Li Fengjian said confidently. He knew that no matter how much Yao Ye protested, she would definitely be waiting for him at the back door.

The two were whispering when Yao Qin came out of the office. Li Fengjian, sensing the situation, immediately left, while Yao Ye, making a further blunder, said…

"Ah, Mr. Li came to ask about renewing the course. Xiaomin really likes our courses."

"Okay, I'll give you the full discount!" Yao Qin nodded. She was also drinking a cup of hot red wine milk tea, which she casually placed on the front desk. "Yao Ye, show me the class schedule for the next week."

"Okay." Yao Ye quickly handed it to her. Seeing that her sister was looking at it intently, she tentatively asked, "Sis, I'll go back to school by myself after get off work later."

"Hmm." Yao Qin nodded as she flipped through the class schedule.

"So you drove home, right?" she asked again.

"I have an appointment after get off work," Yao Qin then realized something was wrong and asked her, "What, do you need me to drive you back to school?"

"No need, no need!" Yao Ye hurriedly replied.

"Oh." Yao Qin was a little confused, but with work at hand, she didn't think much of it. She picked up the class schedule in one hand and grabbed her milk tea cup in the other and hurried back to the office.

Yao Ye finally breathed a sigh of relief, watching the clock tick away, the time slowly approaching the end of the workday. Her heart pounded. On her phone, Li Fengjian sent another WeChat message.

"Reporting to Miss Yao, Kazamado has already closed early. I am about to head to the back door."

Yao Ye smiled, secretly checking her face and hairstyle in the mirror. Seeing Yao Qin come out of the office again, holding a milk tea cup in one hand and a bag in the other, she said with a smile, "I have an appointment with your brother-in-law tonight, so I'll be leaving now. You can close the door according to the usual procedure later."

"Have a nice date!" Yao Ye waved to her with a smile.

Yao Qin smiled brightly at her, waved, and walked toward the elevator.

Thinking that her sister would leave early and thus be even less likely to stumble upon her date with Li Feng, Yao Ye couldn't help but happily grab the milk tea cup on the table and take a big gulp.

Wait, the taste has changed a bit? It seems much weaker? It doesn't have the mellow aroma of the previous wine?

Yao Ye looked at the paper cup suspiciously, then belatedly noticed from the label on the cup that...

Wait, could it be that my sister took the wrong one? Did she take the special alcoholic one? And what I have is her non-alcoholic one?

As she suddenly realized what had happened, Yao Ye felt a surge of panic. A thousand thoughts raced through her mind: Oh no, how much did my sister drink? Is the alcohol content in this milk tea enough for drunk driving? What if they run into a police checkpoint? No way, no way, could such a small cup of milk tea have ruined my sister's wedding?!

Lost in her own thoughts, she chased after the elevator with lightning speed, managing to slip inside just as the doors were closing.

"What's wrong?" Yao Qin asked in surprise, looking at her sister who had seemingly fallen from the sky.

“Sister,” Yao Ye gasped for breath, pointing to the paper cup in her hand, “you took the wrong one, that cup is mine. Yours is on my table.”

"Oh, really?" Yao Qin was taken aback.

"How much did you drink?" Yao Ye asked anxiously. "You shouldn't drive tonight!"

"I haven't drunk much, I've been too busy," Yao Qin waved her hand. "Besides, it's just red wine flavor."

"How much did you drink? You really can't drive! What if you get stopped by the traffic police for a checkpoint!"

"You rushed over here in such a hurry because of this?" Yao Qin found her sister's sudden seriousness amusing and laughed. "I asked, and this milk tea doesn't contain alcohol."

Yao Ye panicked and blurted out, "Your glass is indeed non-alcoholic, but mine is specially made by Li Fengjian with red wine in it, and probably quite a lot!"

"Specially made?" Yao Qin was taken aback, but immediately grasped the key point. "Why would Boss Li make something specially for you?"

Upon hearing this, Yao Ye blushed with guilt. Yao Qin, belatedly realizing that the special edition cup in her hand didn't even have a label.

Indeed, milk tea made with heartfelt care by the boss and specially blended for his girlfriend before being delivered upstairs, doesn't need a label at all.
