"Old woman, go back inside, it's warm inside."
To be honest, he felt the money was well spent. Since moving here, his old leg pain has lessened, and he sleeps much more comfortably at night.
The eldest son is the same; he's stopped causing trouble and stays in his room without coming out. He's been so well-behaved.
"The money is gone, all of it is gone!"
Zhao Dayong felt a pang of pain in his heart. Of all the money he had spent over the years, he actually felt that this was the most worthwhile investment.
In the end, I finally got to enjoy myself.
"Alright, stop crying. We've already moved here, how could we not give them money? It's perfectly normal for them to come, isn't it? That's what we agreed on back then."
"But……"
But she didn't want to live there.
"It's all your fault. You kept urging the eldest son to want a house. Now you're satisfied, but our whole family is penniless. We have nothing left, absolutely nothing."
As she spoke, Li pushed Zhao Dayong.
Zhao Dayong's face darkened. "I think you're out of your mind. You're picking on the weak, aren't you? You're afraid to get angry with the boss, so you're trying to pin all the blame on me."
"So what if I want to buy it? Didn't I earn the money? Did you get my mother's land and money? Nonsense!"
Zhao Dayong shook off Li and went back into the house.
If she likes to be cold, then so be it. It's his fault for being too accommodating; he keeps taking advantage of her.
At the same time, he felt a sense of desolation. Kind people are often bullied, and good horses are often ridden. He could no longer treat his wife kindly. He was getting old and confused, and he was starting to lose his senses.
Let her manage the household; once he lies down, the house will be in chaos.
Li was stunned. She hadn't expected Zhao Dayong to push her, much less that he would just walk away without a care. Since their marriage, even when they occasionally argued, he had never laid a hand on her.
He will take the initiative to coax her after an argument.
The man has changed!
Li felt wronged, and the pain of losing the money made her cover her face, heartbroken, and cry uncontrollably.
Dazhuzi was very annoyed when he heard this, and cried and cried, crying away all his good luck.
"Mom, can you shut up?"
Li was jolted awake and quickly stopped crying. Her eldest son was quite ruthless towards her; he would beat his own mother without hesitation if she angered him, and even her old bones couldn't withstand such a beating.
The main room was very cold. She sat there for half an hour and couldn't stand it anymore. She hugged herself with both hands, her teeth chattering from the cold.
She thought the old man would come to call and coax her again, but he never showed up. She thought the old man would come out to discipline his eldest son when he scolded her, but he didn't either.
Li couldn't quite describe her feelings; she just felt utterly wronged. How could he treat her like this?
Continuing to insist on her decision would surely make her catch a cold, so Li had no choice but to slowly move back to her room. Once inside, she saw the old man sitting there smoking, while the maid was mending clothes, and she immediately felt a surge of anger rising in her head.
He rushed up to the little girl, snatched the thing from her hand, and threw it on the ground.
"Sewing, sewing, sewing! All you ever do is sew! Your mother is freezing to death, and your father doesn't even glance at her, nor do you ask a single question. What use are you to me?!"
Li vented all her anger and grievances on her youngest daughter.
The little girl trembled with fright. Looking at the needle and thread thrown on the ground, her eyes reddened, but she dared not cry out. She just lowered her head and twisted the hem of her clothes with her fingers.
Zhao Dayong slammed his pipe against the ground and said in a deep voice, "What's wrong with you? Why are you taking it out on the child? Whose fault is it if you insist on sitting in the main room? You're such a show-off!"
"I did this? How did I do anything wrong?" Li turned to Zhao Dayong, tears welling up again. "Wasn't it all for this family! For you all! Now look what's happened, the money's gone, and you're all blaming me, aren't you?"
“No one blames you,” Zhao Dayong said wearily. “The money is due, and we’ve moved into the house. From now on, let’s just live an honest life and stop thinking about those other things. The eldest brother has settled down, isn’t that good?”
“Good? What’s so good about it!” Li’s voice was shrill. “We’re broke, broke, and the eldest and third sons’ wives are gone, gone.”
Zhao Dayong had a splitting headache. If she was unwilling to spend the money, why did she move in? Why couldn't he reason with her now?
