October 23, 1941, 1 a.m.
The 53rd, 54th, and 55th Marine Divisions occupied all towns in three directions around Bangkok as planned.
They arrested civilians and made them stand in front of the police force, forcing one military police unit after another to surrender.
1:47.
Gunfire erupted throughout Bangkok, flames soared into the sky, and the entire ancient and bustling city was enveloped in thick smoke. The smoke was thick, flames licked at the crumbling walls and rooftops, screams filled the air, and corpses littered the ground.
At that moment, dozens of Thais dressed as ordinary citizens were fleeing out of the city.
However, just outside the city gate, dozens of trucks carrying soldiers of the National League for Democracy in North Vietnam were seen driving towards them from a distance.
On the truck, soldiers, weapons at their ready, pointed at the civilians and shouted, "Stop! Don't move!"
One of the civilians was so frightened that he knelt on the ground, raised his hands in surrender, and cried out, "Don't kill me! Don't kill me!"
The man was covered in mud and looked filthy, but his face was clean; he was none other than Luang Por Boon Somkhan, the Prime Minister of Thailand.
Soon, the other people also stopped and squatted down.
An officer from the National League for Democracy (NLD) pointed a gun at the civilians and walked over, saying in Thai, "If you want to live, it's simple. Just tell us if any of you are officials. If not, you will all die!"
Many people immediately shook their heads in denial.
The leading officer of the National League for Democracy pointed at someone at random and said, "Kill him."
? ? ? ? ?
Everyone was stunned.
The man was even more bewildered and asked, "Why? Why would a commoner like me kill me? I haven't done anything..."
The officer roared, "Because you have a handsome face! Let me tell you, I hate men who are more handsome than me! You dare to disobey my will, you're dead! Anyone else who wants to resist, bring it on!"
The people were speechless.
Xiangluan Bowen Songkhan hurriedly dug out some mud from the side and smeared it on his face, the stench making his eyes and nose run.
Seeing this, other people followed suit.
"Bang--!"
The next second, the guy with the handsome face had his head explode and fell into a pool of blood.
"Oh--"
The remaining people screamed in terror, covered their heads, and fled in panic.
The leading officer sneered, "Speak!!! Are there any officers among you here???"
"I'm giving you ten seconds! If you don't answer, you'll all die! One...two...three..."
Upon hearing this, the people went mad!
They immediately looked around, and when they saw Luang Bowen Songkhram, they frowned.
"This person looks familiar."
"Yes, I feel like I've seen it somewhere before."
"Yes, he does resemble that... idiot prime minister a bit."
Luang Bowen Songkhram: ......
"The Prime Minister?! It's the Prime Minister!"
A young girl suddenly rushed over and pointed at Luang Por Boon Songkhram.
Luang Boon Somkham was so frightened he almost fell to the ground, and quickly shook his head, saying, "I am not the prime minister, I am just an ordinary citizen."
"No! You are the Prime Minister! I even personally delivered flowers to you!"
Luang Bowen Songkham stamped his feet in frustration, "It really isn't!"
The people immediately rushed over, chattering amongst themselves, "The Prime Minister? It really is him! He looks exactly like him."
"What do you mean 'exactly the same'? He's clearly the Prime Minister!"
"Sir!! We have a prime minister here! Does he count as an official?!"
...
Hearing the word "Prime Minister," this is a super big fish!
Whoosh—!
In an instant, hundreds of soldiers from the National League for Democracy (NLD) of North Vietnam surged forward and surrounded Luang Bo Van Song Kham.
Luang Por Boon Somkhan cried out, his face contorted with grief, "No! I'm really not the Prime Minister, I'm not the Prime Minister! Please, spare my life!"
"Shut up!!!"
A National League for Democracy (NLD) officer kicked Luang Bo Van Song Kham hard, then pointed his gun at him and shouted, "Speak! Are you or aren't you? If you are, I'll spare your life! If you aren't, I'll kill you!!!"
"No, really no, I'm a farmer, I'm really just a farmer!" Luang Bowen Songkhram shook his head desperately. "Please, please spare me! I still need to farm and raise pigs! I really am a farmer!"
"If that's not it, then die."
The officer pulled the trigger without hesitation.
Luang Bowen Songkhan panicked, he panicked completely, and shouted: "Stop hitting me! Stop hitting me! I'll confess! I'll confess everything! Please let me go! I'll confess to everything!"
"Hmph, it should have been done a long time ago!" The officer put away his gun.
Luang Por Boon Somkhan said, trembling, "I am the Prime Minister's secretary. I know where the person you are looking for is. Please, spare me!"
Upon hearing this, the surrounding people were stunned.
The soldiers of the National League for Democracy were also stunned.
"secretary?"
"The secretary is no good, she's done for."
"I'll say it again! Are you the Prime Minister? Or just a secretary?!"
The officer pressed a gun against Luang Bowen Songkhram's temple and shouted sternly.
Luang Por Boon Somkham's legs went weak with fear, and he quickly said, "I'm the Prime Minister! I am! I am! Don't shoot!!! My name is Luang Por Boon Somkham! I am!"
"Quickly send a telegram to the regimental headquarters, saying that we have captured Luang Bowen Songkhram!"
"The officer gave the order."
"yes!"
A nearby communications officer quickly turned on the radio, "Regimental Headquarters! This is the Third Battalion, this is the Third Battalion! We've caught a big fish, his name is Luang Bowen Songkham..."
3:18 a.m.
Luang Pho Boon Somkham was escorted to the flagship of the coastal defense fleet docked in the Gulf of Bangkok.
