Chapter 230 Triumphant Return, Long Live the Democratic League

October 2, 1942.

After more than half a month at sea, the NLD fleet arrived at Haiphong Port in northern Vietnam.

Gazing at the massive warships on the sea, their flags fluttering in the wind, people were filled with excitement.

Millions of Vietnamese citizens and government officials lined the riverbank to welcome the NLD fleet's triumphant return.

In front of them was a huge red carpet, with children from dozens of ethnic groups in the Southeast Asian peninsula holding flowers and standing by the roadside waiting for the chairman to arrive. It was a spectacular sight!

At this moment, nearly a thousand high-ranking members of the China Democratic League and uniformed soldiers have gathered on both sides of the red carpet to maintain order. There are no reporters present, and taking photos is strictly prohibited.

President Le Van Huy and Vice President Nguyen Chi Thanh of the Democratic Alliance of Vietnam.

Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane and Vice President Souvanna Namiti.

President Pakster Norodom of the Democratic Alliance of Cambodia and Vice President Abu Dhabi Noon.

Representatives from the National League for Democracy (NLD) including Wang Yunfei, He Siming (NLD Asset Management Representative), Wang Lichen (NLD Defense Representative), Xue Zhigang (NLD Foreign Affairs Representative), and Liu Qingshan (NLD Army Commander-in-Chief of Cambodia) stood there, smiling to welcome the triumphant heroes.

This is a historic moment!

The people's hopes for the National League Army to achieve final victory in the war against Japan were finally realized on this day!

"Welcome! Welcome! A warm welcome!"

"Welcome! Welcome! A warm welcome!!"

"Welcome! Welcome! A warm welcome!!!"

As Lin Feng and his entourage stepped off the red carpet aboard the landing craft, children on both sides rushed over to present them with flowers.

"Slap slap..."

"Splash..."

Thunderous applause erupted.

Li Wenhui led the applause, and the others followed suit.

"Chairman, thank you for your contributions!" Li Wenhui walked over, hugged Lin Feng, and congratulated him: "Without your leadership, our Democratic League! Our Democratic League Army would not have achieved what we have today!"

Li Wenhui was well aware that the most crucial factor in gaining the trust and support of the people for the construction of the National League for Democracy was a tough approach, especially during the war against Japan, when the National League's tough measures shocked the world.

In contrast, the Democratic League's victory was largely due to its chairman, Lin Feng.

Without him, the Democratic League could never have achieved what it has today, let alone defeated Japan.

"This is the result of everyone's hard work."

Lin Feng waved his hand modestly, turned his gaze to Li Wenhui, and nodded slightly, "Not bad, not bad, Li Wenhui. During the time I was away recently, you... didn't follow the path of Luang Bowen Songkham, which makes me very gratified."

Upon hearing the name Luang Bowen Songkhram, Li Wenhui's heart sank instantly, and his face darkened.

He knew that Lin Feng was warning him that if he dared to rebel like Luang Bowen Songkhan, he would suffer the same fate as Lin Feng, dying without a burial place.

"Chairman, I will keep your teachings in mind." Li Wenhui said solemnly, "Please rest assured, I will definitely continue to uphold the great cause of the China Democratic League in accordance with your original instructions."

Lin Feng nodded in satisfaction.

Although Li Wenhui is in his forties or fifties, he is very farsighted and loyal, especially in the area of improving people's livelihoods, where he is indeed very capable.

In Lin Feng's view, it's better to keep such people alive than to kill them, since when you need them, you only need to put all your eggs in one basket.

"I've been away from northern Vietnam for more than five months now, and I'm sure many people are worried sick about me."

Li Wenhui quickly said, "Chairman, everyone must be very worried. If you don't come back, we don't know who to report to."

"I like hearing that."

Lin Feng chuckled, turned around, and began to shake hands with the high-ranking officials of the three countries one by one, engaging in friendly conversation and expressing that he remembered their contributions during this period.

As the chairman exchanged pleasantries with them, the senior members of the China Democratic League present had mixed feelings. They hoped that the chairman would remember them, but they were also afraid that the chairman would remember them too well and might accidentally kill them.

At 10 a.m., Lin Feng arrived at the podium.

Looking at the millions of people below, Lin Feng took a deep breath, suppressed his excitement, and calmly read out: "Hello, brothers and sisters, I am Lin Feng, the chairman of the China Democratic League. I would like to extend my warmest greetings to you all."

"oh……"

A thunderous roar of cheers erupted from below.

Lin Feng raised his right hand, and the cheers gradually subsided.

"Today, we stand atop the peak of victory, filled with excitement and pride. After five months of long and arduous struggle, we have finally ushered in the dawn of victory!"

"It is thanks to everyone's tireless efforts and selfless sacrifices that we are able to stand here and celebrate this hard-won victory in this war against the Sakura Kingdom."

"First of all, I would like to express my deepest and sincerest gratitude to our great countries—the Democratic Alliance of Vietnam, the Democratic Alliance of Laos, and the Democratic Alliance of Cambodia."

"Comrades, without the selfless dedication of you, the people and the soldiers, and without your bloody battles alongside us, we would never have won this war today!"

"It is because you fought alongside us through thick and thin, risking your lives together, that the enemy retreated and the light of justice illuminated our land. Thank you!"

Upon hearing this, senior members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) from North Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia saluted.

Lin Feng returned the greeting: "Comrades, you've worked hard!"

Another roar erupted from below.

Lin Feng paused for a moment and continued, "Comrades, although this war has ended, it is only a new beginning. Our path ahead may still be full of thorns, and there may be even more powerful enemies waiting to challenge our resolve."
