Chapter 310 Returning Home (65)

Hongling covered her wound and walked forward.

"Miss Hongling, are you alright?" Hongling had only walked a few steps when she encountered a girl who looked to be about fourteen or fifteen years old. She was wearing a pink dress, her long hair was tied up, and she wore a gold hairpin in her hair. Her phoenix eyes revealed a hint of shrewdness.

"I'm fine," Hong Ling said indifferently.

The young girl said, "Miss Hongling, the Wu family has gone too far! They actually sent people to hunt you down, it's outrageous! Miss Hongling, don't be afraid! I'll go tell the master right away! Even when the Wu family bullies others, they still have to follow some rules. The Wu family is too arrogant; they dared to make a move in this kind of situation, it's simply an insult to us martial arts practitioners! Miss Hongling, wait for me, I'll go and fetch the master right now, and see if I don't teach them a lesson!" After the girl finished speaking angrily, she turned and ran away.

"Hey—" Hongling called out, trying to stop the girl, but it was too late. She could only watch the girl walk away, then laughed self-deprecatingly, "The thing I hate most is having others help me!"

"Miss Hongling, I am from the Li family. My surname is Li, and my given name is Li Xiangqin. My name is Xiangqin. Miss Hongling, you can just call me Xiangqin. I'm going to find the master right now!" Li Xiangqin shouted loudly and ran away in a flash.

Hongling watched Li Xiangqin's departing figure and couldn't help but sigh, thinking to herself, "Li Xiangqin, I know what you're thinking, and I know you like Wu Sansi, but someone of your status is probably not good enough for him, so don't bother!"

"Xiangqin, Xiangqin!"

Just then, a middle-aged woman rushed over, grabbed Xiangqin, and said anxiously, "Xiangqin, where have you been? Didn't you say you were going to find the master? Why are you here? Where is the master?"

Li Xiangqin shook off the middle-aged woman's hand and muttered, "Mother! Don't worry about me, hurry and beg Master to save Master Wu and Wu Sansi!"

"Xiangqin!"

The middle-aged woman shouted in frustration.

"I already told you, I don't want to marry that idiot! Go quickly, I need to see my father!" Li Xiangqin said, and then rushed out again.

Upon hearing Li Xiangqin's words, Hongling thought to herself, "This girl is truly naive, but her personality is well-suited to Wu Sansi."

Hong Ling shook her head and turned to leave. Suddenly, a black python emerged from the corner of the wall, bit Hong Ling's left leg, and yanked her into the darkness.

"ah!"

A girl's screams echoed from the darkness.

......

......

"Pat-pat--"

Raindrops pounded on the bluestone slabs, splashing up a series of water droplets.

Wu Song and Li Kui were practicing martial arts in the courtyard when suddenly Wu Song stopped.

"Uncle Wu, what's wrong?" Li Kui asked.

Wu Song looked up at the gloomy sky and said, "It looks like it's going to rain."

"Let's go find shelter from the rain first!" Li Kui said.

"Alright!" Wu Song replied, and the two walked out of the courtyard and came to the eaves.

Li Kui said, "Uncle Wu, didn't you say that you and my brother could take shelter from the rain here while you practice your boxing?"

Wu Song said, "I forgot just now."

Li Kui said, "What should we do?"

Li Kui and Wu Song had been practicing their boxing here and rarely left, so they hadn't brought any food. Now that they had nothing to eat, it would be very difficult for them to survive. Moreover, it was getting darker and darker, and the assassins sent by Wu Sansi could come to kill them at any time.

"Wu Sansi, since you want to kill me, don't blame me for being impolite!" Wu Song said. "Li Kui, you take some dry rations and go to the village entrance to take shelter from the rain. I'll go buy some food and then come back to meet you. I'm going to find a place and kill that man. I want to see who sent him to assassinate me."

"Uncle Wu, I'll go with you!" Li Kui said.

"No, you can't go. That person is highly skilled in martial arts, not much worse than you. If he notices you, you might be in danger. You stay here and wait for me to come back! I will try my best to get back as soon as possible!" Wu Song said.

"Alright!" Li Kui said.

"Uncle Wu!"

Just then, a shout came from afar.

"Aunt Li?" Li Kui exclaimed in surprise.

"Xiangqin, I knew you were here!" Aunt Li ran over from a distance.

"Aunt Li!" Li Kui called out.

Aunt Li grabbed Li Xiangqin's arm anxiously, "Are you alright? I saw someone chasing you! I thought you'd been captured by the Wu family!"

"It's nothing, it's nothing! I'm perfectly fine," Li Xiangqin said. "Aunt Li, why did you come here? Didn't I tell you to wait for news at home?"

Aunt Li said, "You are the eldest daughter of the Li family. The Wu family wants to kill you, how could they possibly let you go! So I ran to check on things, luckily I ran in time!"

Li Xiangqin glanced at Aunt Li and thought to herself, "Could it be that Aunt Li has come to rescue me?"

"Aunt Li, don't worry, those people are all dead!" Li Xiangqin said. "Aunt Li, I have some money here. Take it and I'll buy you some dry food to tide you over."

When Aunt Li saw the money, a smile of satisfaction immediately appeared on her face. She said, "You are truly filial; you are worthy of being a young lady of the Li family."

"Aunt Li, this is what I should do," Li Xiangqin said. "However, you can't accept this money, because it's very important to you."

Aunt Li said, "I'm so old, what's important or unimportant to me? You should keep this money!"

"No, you keep it," Li Xiangqin insisted.

"I must keep this money!"
