Chapter 6: Want weapons? Trade me your unit number! (shuhaige.net)

"Smack—!"

Lin Feng reacted quickly, slapping Chen Dahu's hand on the back of his hand.

"This is my stuff, don't touch it!"

"you--!"

Chen Dahu was both angry and furious. "Haven't seen you for a year, are you itching for a beating?!"

"Oh, you want to fight? You really think I'm afraid of you?!"

"Alright, alright, I'll spar with you!"

The two immediately rolled up their sleeves, ready to fight.

Li Chenggang quickly tried to mediate: "Can't you two brothers just get along?"

"They start fighting as soon as they meet?"

"One is a regular army battalion commander, and the other is a militia captain. Do you want to embarrass yourselves in the military?!"

Both of these brothers have fiery tempers.

I've always been mischievous since I was little, and I haven't changed that habit even as I've grown up.

However, Li Chenggang knew very well that Chen Dahu's argument with his younger brother was entirely for the sake of the army.

After all, their militia was essentially just a lookout unit.

In terms of combat skills, they are far inferior to regular troops, let alone experienced veterans.

"Big Tiger, Second Dog, shut up!"

"These are extraordinary times, can't you all tone it down a little?!"

"snort!"

Lin Feng snorted and glared fiercely at his elder brother, "What exactly are you doing in Wu'an Township?"

What are you doing?

"Isn't it obvious? Bring all your militia's weapons back to the New 1st Regiment!"

"Do you know that your militia's firepower is almost as strong as the entire brigade's!"

"Tell me honestly, did you move the entire Japanese arsenal here?"

"It's none of my business whether I raided the Japanese armory or not."

Lin Feng's face darkened. "These weapons and ammunition must remain in the hands of the militia."

"You want it?"

"No way!"

"Ergou, what do you mean by spouting this nonsense?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Dahu immediately exploded.

"This is the Eighth Route Army's base area! All spoils of war must be handed over and centrally allocated! This is a matter of principle!!"

They were all soldiers.

We absolutely dare not disobey military discipline and wartime orders.

But why do militia units have better equipment than regular troops?!

This is a matter of principle.

"What kind of principle is this! These weapons originally belonged to me!"

"Since when did your regular army start having authority over our militia?"

"Don't try to act all high and mighty in front of me!"

Lin Feng refused to budge an inch.

"I'm telling you! You're going to give it to me today, whether you like it or not!!"

The two grown men were arguing loudly, just like shrewish women cursing in the street, showing no semblance of military bearing.

Finally, it was Li Chenggang who kindly persuaded them to stop arguing.

"Hey! Are you two even related? You start fighting like this the moment you meet?! Can't you just shut up for a minute?!"

"Cheng Gang, tell me! Should the militia hand over their weapons or not?"

Chen Dahu passed the ball to Li Chenggang.

Li Chenggang was in a dilemma.

Lin Feng is the militia captain and has the authority to dispose of these weapons and ammunition himself.

Chen Dahu was a battalion commander in the regular army and had the authority to distribute the spoils of war within the base area.

Neither of them is at fault.

"You two—!"

Looking at the two brothers, Li Chenggang felt an urge to slap each of them across the face.

After a long silence, he sighed and said slowly, "Captain, to be honest, according to the discipline of the Eighth Route Army, we really do have to hand over this batch of weapons and ammunition..."

Li Chenggang hadn't finished speaking.

Lin Feng suddenly kicked the table over, yelling, "Old Li! You bastard! You're a scoundrel!! You're siding with outsiders!!!"

How dare you speak like that?!

Li Chenggang's expression immediately changed. "Watch your attitude!!"

"You wait!"

"You just wait!!"

Lin Feng gritted his teeth, glared at Li Chenggang, and then turned and ran towards the door.

He then made an OJBK gesture.

Li Chenggang understood immediately.

"well."

Li Chenggang sighed, "Dahu, look at this! Look at this! Can't you two just talk things out?! You have to put me in the middle!!!"

"Alright, alright, that's how things are now anyway."

Chen Dahu shrugged helplessly, "Cheng Gang, the Japanese are about to launch a new round of mopping-up operations. You know the current situation of our New 1st Regiment."

"With this batch of weapons and ammunition, our firepower will increase at least several times."

“I understand Er Gou’s feelings, and I know that your militia is thinking of the people, but our New 1st Regiment is also thinking of the people of the entire base area!”

"When the nation and the people face peril, we Chinese soldiers should stand up, abandon our personal lives, and prioritize the interests of the nation and the country!"

Chen Dahu patted Li Chenggang on the shoulder earnestly.

He certainly knew this, but Er Gou was, after all, his younger brother…

"well--!"

Li Chenggang sighed again, "Dahu, you know Ergou's personality, he's a stubborn person!"

"Once he's made up his mind, nothing can change it, unless..."

Chen Dahu's eyebrows shot up sharply. "Unless what?!"

Li Chenggang shook his head. "Unless you select three hundred new recruits for our militia and help us apply for a designation for our militia."

"I guarantee Er Gou will give you the weapon."

"No...."

Chen Dahu's expression froze. "Three hundred new recruits, our 1st Regiment does have that, but the designation..."
