A piercing alarm blared throughout Laizhou City, "Woo-woo-woo-woo-woo!"
"Air raid!"
"Get to the air-raid shelter quickly!!"
"Hide!!!"
Exclamations of surprise filled the city.
Lin Feng stood up and looked at the group of bombers in the sky through his binoculars.
A formation of more than 30 Ki-48/Type 99 twin-engine light bombers flew in from the south.
Leading the group was a Ki-45/Type 2 two-seat fighter.
The Japanese called it "Dragon Slayer". The main wing was elliptical, and the engine was a two 820-horsepower Nakajima Ha-20B air-cooled engine. There were two 7.7 mm Type 89 machine guns in the nose and another Type 89 machine gun in the rear.
"T aimed!"
"You think you can take advantage of us because we don't have anti-aircraft guns right now!"
"They're taking advantage of me because I don't own a plane!!!"
"You just wait!!!"
Lin Feng cursed, but he didn't dare to delay.
They immediately ran to the nearest air-raid shelter.
The air-raid shelters were overcrowded, with soldiers and civilians crammed together.
Lin Feng pushed open the door and went inside. He took off his coat and threw it aside, sat in the corner catching his breath, and took out a cigarette and lit it.
Soon, a series of deafening explosions erupted outside.
The light bomber opened its bomb bay, and bombs slid in one by one through the hatch.
"Clang clang clang clang clang clang clang clang..."
"Boom... boom boom..."
The explosion instantly engulfed the entire city in flames.
The buildings in Laizhou City were completely destroyed, and there were ruins and thick smoke everywhere. Many civilians who did not run into the air-raid shelters were killed or burned, and their cries echoed through the sky.
"Oh my god!!!"
"Help!"
"Please save me, I beg you!"
Lin Feng gritted his teeth and stared outside.
At that moment, he hated himself. If he had run a little more and run past anti-aircraft guns and planes, this tragedy would not have happened!
A dozen minutes later, the explosion subsided, and the Japanese planes left.
The city has become a sea of fire.
Countless people poured out of the air-raid shelter, supporting each other and wailing in pain and despair.
"Quickly, save them!"
"quick!"
Nguyen Thi Mai led her men in and directed the soldiers to rescue people.
………………………………
A prisoner-of-war camp on the outskirts of Laizhou City.
This was a temporary detention facility built by the National League for Democracy to hold important war criminals.
During the last attack on Laizhou City, most of the Japanese soldiers were killed, and only a few dozen French soldiers surrendered, including Lieutenant Harriman, the city's defense commander.
"Commander-in-Chief, these are the same French roosters that surrendered last time."
Wang Lichen led Lin Feng to the prisoner-of-war camp, pointed to the Gallic rooster huddled in a corner of the cage, shivering, with a vacant look in its eyes and cracked lips: "They're actually quite obedient..."
"Call over their highest-ranking one."
Lin Feng waved to someone behind him, and soon a soldier brought over a chair and placed it in front of the cell.
He sat in the chair, lit a cigarette, and waited for the detainees to come over.
Before long, an old man with a full beard, messy hair, who looked to be in his forties or fifties and was wearing prison clothes walked over shakily, looking at Lin Feng with a mixture of fear and curiosity.
"Are you the commander-in-chief of the National League for Democracy?" Harriman asked in broken Chinese.
He has been detained for three days, receiving only one meal a day, which is just half a bowl of thin porridge.
Lin Feng exhaled a puff of smoke, ignoring him, and instead asked Wang Lichen, who was standing next to him, "Where were we?"
Wang Lichen paused for a moment, then remembered and quickly replied, "We were just saying..."
Before he could finish speaking, Harriman suddenly became agitated: "You devils! We are prisoners of war! The Geneva Conventions clearly stipulate that the armies of any country or nation are not allowed to mistreat prisoners of war, especially noble prisoners of war like us from Europe. We are one of the most beloved friends of imperialism. How could you treat us like this?"
Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "What the hell? One of the most beloved friends of imperialism?"
Has this guy lost his mind?
"Of course!" Harriman roared angrily, "If you continue like this, I will file a lawsuit in court on the grounds of Imperial honor! I will sue you for abusing prisoners!"
"Idiot."
Lin Feng couldn't help but roll his eyes, too lazy to waste words with him: "Take him outside."
Wang Lichen quickly went up to Harriman and said, "The Commander-in-Chief has something to discuss and needs your cooperation..."
Harriman broke free from Wang Lichen's grasp and shouted, "I refuse to cooperate with you devils! Let me out of here, or I will protest to the Geneva Convention!"
"You bastard."
"You think you're so great, huh?"
Several soldiers rushed up, grabbed Harriman, and dragged him away.
Harriman struggled desperately, but to no avail. Although he was stronger, there were many of them, and they were all big, strong and robust. Harriman was pinned to the ground, powerless to resist.
Only now did he realize what despair meant; he realized that his so-called dignity was so worthless in the face of power.
We arrived at the square of the prisoner-of-war camp.
Lin Feng cut to the chase, "Your name is Harriman, right?"
Harriman stared at Lin Feng without saying a word.
“I know you are a noble prisoner of war, and one of the most beloved friends from imperialism.”
Lin Feng took out a cigarette, lit it slowly, took two puffs, and continued, "But I still have to advise you. You are a prisoner of war, and you shouldn't be rude to my men. I'm in a good mood right now and don't want to be too rough with you."
