Chapter 158 The 18th Marine Corps Surrounds Bangkok

October 22, 10:27 PM.

Upon receiving the Prime Minister's order, Royal Thai Army Commander-in-Chief General Prasong Charoenpong immediately issued orders to all units to launch an offensive against northern Vietnam.

From the moment the war officially began in the afternoon, aside from initial resistance, the enemy was swept away with overwhelming force.

The 1st Corps has already landed in Phnom Penh and is advancing towards the port of Phnom Penh.

The 2nd Army Corps captured the Sei Ben Province of Laos.

The 3rd Army Corps has captured central Laos and is advancing towards Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces in northern Vietnam.

The 4th Army Corps has arrived in northern Saigon and is advancing towards Saigon.

The 5th Army Corps captured half of Xieng Khouang Province and Luang Prabang Region...

Wherever they went, they encountered almost no enemy. They didn't see a single person from the National League for Democracy in North Vietnam, the National League for Democracy in Laos, or the National League for Democracy in Cambodia.

This result made General Basong Charonpong very proud.

This only made Hu Zhiming and Liang Minghua more convinced that this must be a conspiracy!

"General Basong, our five corps are too scattered right now. If this is Lin Feng's conspiracy, we might be surrounded and annihilated!" Hu Zhiming suggested, "Why don't we gather our forces first and then advance?"

“Yes, General Basong, the situation is indeed not good right now. Let’s gather our forces first!” Liang Minghua also chimed in with his advice.

"Heh, I think you two are just afraid of dying! If you're scared, you can leave, I definitely won't stop you."

Basong Jalunpong laughed, his tone full of sarcasm.

Upon hearing this, Hu Zhiming and Liang Minghua were immediately enraged: "General Basong, we were just reminding you, we have no intention of leaving! Since you want to venture deep into enemy territory alone, then go and die by yourself, don't take us with you!"

Basong Jalunpong snorted coldly, glared, and shouted, "Get back to your command posts!"

"I won't!"

"No way!"

Liang Minghua and Hu Zhiming stood up at the same time, glaring at Basong Zhalunpong with their heads held high and chests puffed out, showing no fear whatsoever.

"Guards!"

Lock them up!!!

Basong Jalunpong roared.

Military police immediately rushed over and escorted Liang Minghua and Hu Zhiming away from the operations command room.

The two were filled with resentment: "Damn Basong, just you wait! You'll get your comeuppance sooner or later!!!"

"Haha...I'm getting my comeuppance?"

Basong Jalunpong's arrogant laughter rang out: "With your status and background, you dare to curse me! You couldn't even wipe out a small guerrilla force! What talk do you have about restoring your country? What a joke! You'd better stay put, or I guarantee you'll wish you were dead!"

……………………

11:17.

In the Gulf of Bangkok, all of Thailand's defenses were destroyed by the coastal defense fleet.

Under Zhang Minghai's command, the 61st Transport Fleet opened the ship's hold, and the 18th Marine Corps began landing.

The purpose of the National League for Democracy's (NLD) complete withdrawal from North Vietnam was to cover up the navy's operations.

Initially, Zhang Xiaowu wanted to confront the 600,000-strong Royal Thai Army head-on. After all, he had the advantage in weaponry and equipment, and even if he suffered some losses, he could still crush them.

However, Lin Feng had said something to him before the war: he wanted to incorporate this army of 600,000.

so......

The only way they could think of was to steal from their hometown, capture their prime minister, and reduce casualties.

"quick--!"

"Hurry up and go!"

"quick!!!"

"You, and you all! Don't leave the tanks blocking the beach, drive them all up there!!!"

Gao Tiejun, political commissar of the 18th Marine Corps, is directing soldiers from the 53rd, 54th and 55th Marine Divisions to unload supplies onto the beach.

Tanks, cannons, and bullets were hauled off the landing craft.

At first glance, the entire beach was packed with people...

Inside the 18th Marine Corps Provisional Command on the beach.

Army Commander Huang Shanhu is currently working with division-level generals to formulate a battle plan.

"The 53rd Marine Division captured Samut Sakhon, Kerat Thom, Nakhon Pathom, and Nonthaburi provinces west of Bangkok, leaving a regiment to block Thai reinforcements while the main force advanced toward Bangkok."

"The 54th Marine Division took Saribagan, Ban Taro, Laklabang, Min Buri, and Nong Cho, east of Bangkok, leaving a regiment to hold them off."

"The 55th Marine Division circled around to Nonthaburi, north of Bangkok, to block the enemy's escape route to the north."

"Do you understand now!???"

In the conference room, a group of generals listened to their commander's speech and nodded in agreement: "Understood!"

Huang Shanhu nodded, then took out his pocket watch. "It's 11:38 PM now. At 12:30, we'll surround Bangkok on time! Our mission is to capture Thai Prime Minister Luang Boon Boon Somkham, as well as high-ranking figures in the Thai military and political circles. Capture 1,000 if there are 1,000, capture 10,000 if there are 10,000!"

After saying that, Huang Shanhu slammed his hand on the table and said, "Meeting adjourned."

The generals filed out and quickly disappeared without a trace.

At 11:45, the main force regiments of the three divisions left the beach in tanks of different models and headed towards their destinations.

Along the way, there were injured Thai civilians, who had obviously fled from Bangkok Port.

This did not stop the National League for Democracy's advance.

News of the appearance of the National League for Democracy (NLD) forces near Bangkok quickly reached the ears of Thai Prime Minister Luang Phobon Somkhan through various outposts.

"You're saying the National League for Vietnam (NLOV) is near Bangkok?!"

Luang Bowen Songkhram's face was full of doubt: "Where did this news come from? Are you sure?"
