Chapter 160 Cassava Dumplings

Chapter 160 Cassava Dumplings

Juanjuan and Si Jinchen stood beside the table and watched Wu Ma take out all the ingredients.

Mother Wu poured tapioca flour into a basin, added appropriate amount of water and asked the two children to knead the dough.

She turned around to get something from the cupboard and put the unused brown sugar on the table.

Juanjuan looked at the brown sugar and then at the white tapioca starch in the basin. Her pretty big eyes blinked and she stretched out her little hand to take the jar of brown sugar.

"Brother, open it."

Si Jinchen looked at the small jar handed to her by her little hands full of tapioca flour and asked, "Juanjuan, do you want some candy?"

"It's too white and doesn't look good." Juanjuan looked at the tapioca flour in the basin.

Si Jinchen looked down at the tapioca flour in the basin, which seemed a little unsightly. He took the jar and turned to run to find the housekeeper.

"Grandpa Butler, could you please help me unscrew the lid?"

When the housekeeper saw it, he just thought that Wu Ma couldn't open it, so he asked Si Jinchen to bring it to him for help.

He unscrewed it and handed it to Si Jinchen: "Okay."

"Thank you, butler." Si Jinchen ran back with the jar and poured the brown sugar into the basin.

Seeing that he had almost finished pouring, he turned to look at Juanjuan: "Is that enough?"

Juanjuan nodded her little head, stretched out her little hand and mixed the brown sugar into the tapioca flour dough.

When Wu Ma came back after finding the things, she saw a basin of red dough and was a little amused and helpless.

"Miss, Master, what did you add to it?"

Juanjuan pointed to the opened jar of brown sugar, which was half empty: "Sugar."

Mother Wu was at a loss for words. She looked at the pot of cassava dough with a headache. She was afraid that there was no way to make cassava cake.

But what to do with so much cassava dough?

Juanjuan didn't think too much about it. She grabbed a piece of cassava dough and rolled it into a small ball in her hand: "Tangyuan."

Seeing this, Si Jinchen also imitated her and rolled out small balls.

Mother Wu looked at the balls made by the two children and smiled helplessly.

In that case, let's just follow the two children's idea and cook the cassava into dumplings. I don't know if they will be edible.

After she figured it out, she and the two children started rolling balls together.

Juanjuan saw that she was rolling the dough into a big size and said, "Auntie, it tastes better if it's small!"

Mother Wu looked at the big ball in her hand, then at the small balls in the hands of the two children. It seemed that the small ones tasted better.

She changed the big ball in her hand into a small ball like the two children.

After all the cassava dough was rolled into small balls the size of her little finger, she became a little troubled again, wondering if they would melt if she put them into the water.

She used to steam it, but now she uses it to boil it, and she still feels unsure.

When Mrs. Si came to look for the two children, she saw them gathered around Wu Ma, craning their necks to look at the small stove in front of them.

“What delicious food are you making?”

"Grandma, Juanjuan and her brother made Yuanyuan!" Juanjuan ran to her and took her hand to look.

Madam Si was completely bewildered when she heard this, and when she saw the brown balls that hadn't even been put into the pot, she was even more bewildered: "What is this?"

"Tangyuan!" Si Jinchen said proudly.

"Grandma, this is the first time I've seen such small dumplings with such a special color." Old Madam Si said this with some uncertainty.

Aunt Wu looked at her with a puzzled expression, but she still poured some small dumplings into the boiling water.

She stirred the pot gently with a spoon, fearing that it would stick to the pot or turn into a pot of paste.

Several people gathered around a small stove and watched attentively.

However, what surprised Wu Ma was that these small dumplings did not melt, but slowly turned into a transparent color.

"If it turns transparent, does it mean it's cooked?" Mrs. Si looked at Auntie Wu.

Wu Ma was also unsure: "Wait until I fish it out and try it."

As she spoke, she brought a bowl of cold water, scooped some small dumplings into it and put them in to cool down quickly.

It didn't melt even after boiling, so it should be fine if put into ice water, she thought to herself.

She carefully observed the small dumplings in the bowl and found that they had not changed at all. She guessed that they had cooled down, so she found a small spoon, scooped one and put it into her mouth.

Three pairs of eyes looked at the expression on her face, full of curiosity about what this thing tasted like.

Wu Ma took a bite first and found that it was very elastic and had the sweetness of brown sugar. The more she chewed, the better it tasted.

Juanjuan looked at her slightly open mouth and swallowed some saliva.

Madam Si saw the change in her expression and asked, "Is it delicious?"

"Hmm, hmm, hmm." Aunt Wu nodded quickly, took out the small dumplings from the bowl, put them in three small bowls and handed them to the three people: "Try it."

She also specifically instructed Juanjuan: "Miss, chew slowly and don't swallow it in a hurry."

Juanjuan took the small bowl and spoon and nodded quickly. She carefully scooped up a small glutinous rice ball that was sliding around and put it into her mouth.

"Wow! It bounces!" Her big eyes were full of surprise. After saying that, she bit it again, as if she had found a new toy.

Madam Si and Si Jinchen also ate one and found it very chewy.

Mother Wu scooped up everything left in the pot and put it into cold water. She looked at the cold water in a daze.

"It would taste better with some sweet soup." Old Madam Si looked at the transparent little dumplings in the bowl.

"Sweet soup?" Aunt Wu immediately stood up excitedly, which scared the three of them.

"Aunt Wu, what's wrong with you?" Si Jinchen looked at her with an excited expression.

"Madam, young master, young lady, I think I know what the snacks in the milk tea are." After saying this, Aunt Wu looked at the small dumplings in the bowl.

"Are you talking about these little dumplings?" Old Madam Si looked at the little dumplings in the bowl.

"Yes." Wu Ma nodded. "Young Master and Young Lady can't drink tea, but they can drink it with sweet milk or something like that."

Madam Si looked at her and asked, "Do you think this thing can be sold?"

Wu Ma was stunned by the question: "I really haven't thought about this, but I think I can ask Second Master."

"You can make more today, and we'll let A Tian and A Ming try it when they come back later." Old Madam Si thought there should be a market for it.

"Okay, I'll do some more now." Aunt Wu immediately rolled up her sleeves and worked hard.

Old Madam Si didn't let the two children eat too much, for fear that they would not be able to digest it.

The two children were not greedy people, so they brought a bowl to Ma Yang, who was sitting in the study reading a book.

"What is this?" Ma Yang looked at the strange thing.

"Little glutinous rice balls." Si Jinchen said with a smile.

Ma Yang looked at the strange thing in the bowl. It was the first time he had seen such small dumplings.

"Woof woof woof. What delicious food is there? Let me try it." Songsong ran in from outside.

Juanjuan hugged its neck and said, "You can't eat it!"

Song Song snorted coldly: "Woof woof. Stingy!"
