Han Yan closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, her demeanor had changed. She looked submissive, tears welling in her eyes. "Xu Mo, I beg you, can we go to the conference room and talk?"
Xu Mo followed her to the meeting room.
The meeting room was not air-conditioned and was a bit stuffy, so Xu Mo turned on the lights and the air conditioner.
She sat opposite Han Yan and just looked at her: "What do you want to say?"
Han Yan was silent for a long time, then looked up at her. "Yes, I said some negative things when the background check company called to ask about your situation."
Xu Mo laughed. "So you have something negative to say about me? How come I didn't know? I remember a few days ago, you praised me as your good partner and said you wanted to continue working on projects with me?"
Han Yan said, "We got along well, but you did make some mistakes in the early stages of the project. Otherwise, you wouldn't have been replaced by me. I'm telling the truth."

"Your resignation process has reached me, but I'm still holding it and haven't approved it yet, so no one else in leadership knows about it. If you want to continue working here, that's totally fine. You can withdraw the process and we can pretend nothing happened, okay?"
Xu Mo paused in her attempt to stand up. She looked at Han Yan's hopeful eyes and suddenly understood everything.
"So you want me to stay here and help you with the project. After all, you've just arrived at the institute and don't have much experience. No one wants to work with you on the project. You need an obedient and useful slave."

Alex called and told Xu Mo that it was basically confirmed that it was her direct superior who said bad things about her. The background check report was sent to the employer, and their attitude suddenly changed.
Xu Mo asked him if there was any remedy. Alex told her to look for her performance rating in the performance system and intercept some chat records in which she had been recognized by her superiors. He would then see if there was any way to save the situation.
Xu Mo immediately logged into the system. Manager Wu had reviewed her performance reports for the past few years, and they had always been excellent. However, she searched through the chat logs for a long time and couldn't find any words of praise from Han Yan.
This person is very thoughtful. Even if he praises someone, it is only verbal praise over the phone, and no trace is left.
Xu Mo packed up the supporting documents and sent them to Alex, then sat at her workstation and closed her eyes to rest.
