Chapter 71 I'm leaving

Chapter 71 I'm leaving

For a long time afterwards, Xu Mo remembered that evening. In the still-lasting daylight, the red skirt of the Kazakh girl twirled, the snow-capped mountains melted in the distance, and the ground was covered with lush grass. She and Lu Chaoju stayed in the warm wooden house, listening to the hostess telling ancient legends of the nation and watching the young man playing the piano and the girl dancing in ethnic costumes in the courtyard.

Under the short wooden table, she and Lu Chaoju sat together, not too close, yet not too far away, just like they were close yet not too far away. The two of them stayed in the wooden house for half a day and then returned to the B&B.

Then followed two more aimless days. Xu Mo read in the B&B, went downstairs to eat with Xiao Ye, took a walk in the village, and strolled barefoot in the nearby blue stream. She would occasionally think of this man. She was surprised by her behavior, but soon found the reason. The scenery here was so beautiful, and naturally the people in the scenery also became beautiful.

When the sun just came out, Xiao Ye was digging dandelions in the yard. Seeing Xu Mo standing by the window, she waved at her and smiled brightly.

Xu Mo put down the teacup, walked out of the room and went to Xiaoye.

"What are you doing?" Xu Mo asked.

Xiaoye wiped the sweat from his forehead and said with a smile, "Dig some dandelions. These leaves can be eaten. They can clear away heat and detoxify."

Xu Mo squatted down, and her gauze skirt fell into the mud. Xiao Ye hurriedly helped her pick up the hem of her skirt: "Be careful, it will get dirty."

Xu Mo curved her lips and said, "Just wash it when it gets dirty."

Xiao Ye smiled and said, "You seem much happier than the day you first arrived."

"Really..." Xu Mo took the small shovel she handed to her and started digging, imitating her movements.

The tip of the shovel pierced the black soil, and the smell of earth mixed with the bitter aroma of grass and wood filled the air. Xiaoye's voice was in my ears: "What did you do before?"

"I'm a consultant for a consulting firm."

"Consultant?" Xiao Ye thought for a moment. "Is he a weight loss consultant like someone from a weight loss company?"

"No..." Xu Mo smiled, then thought for a moment, "Actually, it's similar. We both serve our clients. It's just that they help their clients lose weight, while we help them solve financial and strategic problems."

Xiao Ye nodded, not quite understanding: "I see."

"Is your work usually very busy?"

"Yes." Xu Mo nodded and explained to her, "This job requires contact with different clients, so I have to travel frequently. I can be away for half a month or even a whole month at a time."

Xiao Ye frowned slightly: "That is indeed very hard."

Xu Mo asked, "What about you? Are you a local? How did you end up opening a B&B here?"

"Yes, I'm a local." Xiao Ye scratched his head. "I didn't study much. I opened a B&B here after graduating from high school. Some of my friends went to college in big cities and stayed there, but I still want to stay in my hometown."

Xu Mo looked toward the snow-capped mountains in the distance. "City forests are all the same, but this is a unique beauty."

Xiao Ye smiled innocently: "That's right."

After putting the picked dandelions into an orange-red bag, Xu Mo stood up and turned her head to see Lu Chaoju standing in the courtyard.

Today he was wearing a light green polo shirt and business trousers, with his hands in his pockets. He had a slender figure, and in the soft sunlight and summer breeze, his stern face seemed a little gentler.

Their eyes met, and Lu Chaoju nodded at her.

"Which consulting company are you from?" the man asked casually when Xu Mo passed by him.

He had obviously overheard her conversation with Xiaoye.

Xu Mo tilted her head and smiled faintly: "This gentleman who doesn't even want to tell me his real name, there is no need for him to be curious about which company I work for.

Lu Chaoju raised his eyebrows and watched her back slowly disappear at the door.

After that day, Xu Mo never saw him again. A few days passed, and then one night.

At that time, she was lying on the bed reading a book. Suddenly, the room fell into darkness. She was startled and called Xiaoye.

Xiao Ye's voice also sounded a little anxious: "Sorry, the B&B suddenly had a power outage and they are repairing it."

“How long will it take to repair it?”

"Maybe an hour or two..."

Xu Mo had already washed up and thought she might as well go to sleep, but she tossed and turned in bed for a long time and couldn't fall asleep.

Darkness can magnify people's loneliness. She lay on her side on the bed, half of her face buried in the pillow, looking at the moonlight outside the window, a faint sadness and loneliness rising in her heart.

I had been away from home for a week, and when I first arrived here the scenery was new and fresh, but after seeing enough, my mood gradually calmed down.

Although it's nice here, we can't stay here forever. We have to go back and face reality.

Xu Mo got up, put on a blanket, slowly opened the door and walked out.

Suddenly, there was a sound of footsteps and a deep male voice fell into my ears.

"Is there a power outage?"

Xu Mo didn't turn around, but she recognized his voice. In the silence, she could clearly hear her own heartbeat: "Hmm."

"...What's going on? Did something happen?" His voice was a little hoarse. Xu Mo pursed her lips and sniffed carefully, and smelled a faint smell of alcohol on him.

"I just called Xiaoye, and he said they're working on repairs and it'll probably take two hours for them to call back."

"Hmm." It should be a hum from the nose.

The man's silhouette was particularly deep in the darkness, and it was so quiet that it seemed as if only each other's breathing and heartbeats could be heard.

Somehow, Xu Mo suddenly felt a long-lost sense of unease. It seemed like her body was telling her that if she continued to stay in this environment, something beyond her control would happen. She subconsciously said, "I'm leaving."

"Where are you going?"

Xu Mo held her breath softly: "...Let's go for a walk in the yard."

The man was silent for a moment.

Xu Mo closed her eyes, and when she turned around, someone suddenly grabbed her arm: "Wait."

Xu Mo stood there, her heartbeat accelerating: "What's wrong?"

Lu Chaoju pulled her closer and asked her to face him, her small nose almost touching his chest.

Lu Chaoju lowered his head slightly. His face was clearly reflected in her pupils under the moonlight. His handsome face slowly approached her, his breath spraying on her face: "I'm leaving tomorrow."

In the silence, Xu Mo raised her eyes and met his deep eyes.

"So sudden..."

"My vacation time is fixed, only these few days every year."

"Is that so..." The woman's voice was wet, as if covered with dew, and contained a hint of anger.

Lu Chaoju moved his gaze downwards, from the unpainted eyebrows to the rosy lips.

Slowly, he placed his lips on her warm lips.

Feeling the soft and cool touch, Xu Mo gently closed her eyes in the night.

"Do you have a girlfriend..."

"We broke up, why are you asking?"

His lips briefly left hers, but then swept over her again, his arms slowly wrapping around her body.

Xu Mo smiled and said, "No, I'm just afraid of accidentally becoming the third party."

Lu Chaoju raised his hand and held the back of her head: "What about me?"

"you guess."

Lu Chaoju kissed her harder: "Why did you break up?"

“Not suitable…”

"So you came here to relax, to forget about him?"

"...You said you were looking for an answer and are leaving now. Have you found it?"

He bit her lips, exchanging their body temperatures. "If I hadn't met you at this time, perhaps we would have had more stories."

Xu Mo smiled and stroked his face: "Story? How about tonight?"

The door of the cabin was locked and clothes were scattered on the wooden floor.
