Monkey Sister was incredibly fast; Zhao Xiaoxiu was the first to arrive.
Upon arriving at Territory No. 12, they did not see Dongfang Ling.
Unable to enter the territory without the lord's permission, Zhao Xiaoxiu could only stand by the roadside and shout, "Sister Dongfang! I've come to exchange for fish fry!"
Dongfang Ling's voice came from behind the house.
"Come in."
Then there was a loud splash of water, followed by silence.
Zhao Xiaoxiu exchanged a curious glance with Sister Monkey. Sister Monkey shook her head to indicate that she didn't understand, then pulled the cub on the hoverboard into Territory No. 12 and walked towards the back of the house.
When Zhao Xiaoxiu came last time, there was a pond behind the house, and many fish were raised in it.
Just a few days later, the pond had grown even larger, almost as big as the natural puddle by her family's river.
But that's not the point. The point is the water in the pond.
Territory No. 12 is backed by mountains and surrounded by land on the other three sides. It is not adjacent to a river, yet it was able to accumulate such a large pool of water in a short period of time, which is truly astonishing.
Zhao Xiaoxiu scanned the pond but didn't find any pumping equipment.
The only possibility is that there is water continuously gushing out from underground.
"Sister Dongfang?" Zhao Xiaoxiu stood by the fishpond, not seeing Dongfang Ling's figure, and tentatively called out into the water.
With a splash, a black figure leaped high out of the water, its entire body exposed except for half of its lower leg, which was splashing in the water to maintain buoyancy.
Zhao Xiaoxiu's eyes widened, and for a moment she thought she had seen the legendary mermaids who lived in the water.
But unfortunately, that's not the case.
"What did you bring?" Dongfang Ling asked, floating in the water with his hands on his hips, wearing a pure black underwater thermal bodysuit.
Zhao Xiaoxiu was stunned for a moment before she reacted, jumped off the suspension board, revealing the cotton cloth and cotton she had brought.
There was also a bunch of basins and buckets.
Dongfang Ling couldn't help but laugh, "So you want to buy all my fish fry? But your supplies aren't enough."
After she finished speaking, she plunged into the deep pool. After about two or three minutes, she swam back to the shore with a net full of small fish fry.
Zhao Xiaoxiu stood on the shore and could clearly see her soft and silky figure, like a sea snake, as well as the cheeks behind her ears that were the same color as her skin but slightly open with a narrow slit.
It should be the cheek, right? Zhao Xiaoxiu wasn't quite sure either.
The child was stunned.
She discovered that Dongfang Ling could actually breathe freely underwater!
Because she can breathe, the underwater environment is no different from that on land for her; she can even work in the water with her tools.
With another splash, Dongfang Ling emerged from the water and climbed ashore using the wooden rope ladder he had hung by the water's edge.
She was also holding a net in her hand, which was full of different kinds of mutated small fish, all of which were edible.
Some fish have sharp teeth and are trying to bite through the fishing net to escape.
Unfortunately, before it could make a move, it was bitten by another of the same species, but slightly larger.
Crimson blood immediately spread in the murky pool water. Dongfang Ling, who had just climbed ashore, frowned in displeasure upon seeing this, pulled the net out of the water, and threw the two fish that had been eating each other onto the ground.
Fish without water can only struggle for a few moments before giving up. Dongfang Ling chuckled, picked it up, and tossed it into Zhao Xiaoxiu's bucket. "Here you go. It's a bit small, but it'll still taste pretty good when roasted."
"However, I suggest you keep them separate from other varieties when you're raising them, otherwise..."
"What else could we do?" Zhao Xiaoxiu asked curiously.
Dongfang Ling gave a wicked smile before saying in a gloomy voice, "Otherwise, they'll eat all the fish in your pond."
She kept these ferocious fish separately using the strongest fishing nets.
Zhao Xiaoxiu dared not accept such a fish and quickly waved her hand, saying, "Then I don't want this kind of fish. I'll raise other kinds."
Dongfang Ling shrugged. "Whatever."
"There are still eighty mutated small fish in the net. Should I put them all in your net?" she asked.
Zhao Xiaoxiu nodded hurriedly and quickly told Sister Hou to bring out the basin and bucket, fill them with water first, and then let Dongfang Ling pour the fish fry in.
Dongfang Ling readily accepted the cotton and cotton cloth, taking them home with her.
After the two sides finished their transaction, the other lords arrived one after another.
Those with ample supplies, like Sheng Qingyang and Bai Cailing, simply exchanged their own knitted sweaters and long johns for supplies.
Dongfang Ling also generously gave out ten or twenty small fish fry each.
Some of the others brought over thick boots, but Dongfang Ling glanced at the stains on them, rolled her eyes, and simply said one word: "Get lost!"
Zhang Lijun and his two companions scraped together twenty jin of charcoal and traded it for ten larger fish, intending to take them back and raise them as they pleased, cooking them if they died.
"Oh, right!" Taking advantage of the fact that the lords were all there, Zhang Lijun suggested, "I saw in the weather forecast that it's going to snow tomorrow. I have a fellow villager in the city who sells charcoal. How about we all chip in a thousand catties and I'll have him deliver it to our door?"
Bai Cailing, who was about to leave, stopped in her tracks upon hearing this and turned back to ask, "How many points per pound? Can it be delivered today?"
Zhang Lijun patted the satellite phone in his arms, "It's just a matter of me saying a word. You guys tell me if you want it or not. If it's not even a thousand kilograms, I'd be embarrassed to have someone deliver it."
"Of course, we need a lot, so we'll definitely get the wholesale price. Don't worry about that. Don't you know what kind of person I am, Lao Zhang?"
Some people shook their heads, ignored him, and left.
Zhang Lijun immediately looked at the seven or eight people who remained. Some of them were tempted, as charcoal was definitely better than firewood.
