Happy New Year?
The call has ended.
Zhao Xiaoxiu quickly glanced at the date displayed on her phone: January 1st, New Year's Day.
The fourteenth year of the catastrophe began quietly.
Zhao Xiaoxiu ran out of bed, went to the balcony, pushed open the window which was covered in moisture, and a blast of cold air hit her face.
The heavy snow that had been falling for days had stopped, the clouds and fog had dispersed, the sky had cleared, and the entire planting area was peaceful and serene.
"Happy New Year!" Zhao Xiaoxiu shouted happily.
The little guy stood on the balcony, jumped up, and prepared to slide down the balcony snow slide, experiencing a scene straight out of an idol drama.
The next second, two tentacles suddenly attacked, mercilessly covering her mouth and dragging her back to the room. They dressed her, put on a hat, wrapped her up tightly, packed her up, and sent her to the door on the first floor.
A tentacle shoved the twin swords into her hands.
A tentacle helped to arrange the practice stakes neatly.
The last two tentacles simultaneously make a gesture of invitation, inviting you to begin your daily practice for the new year.
Zhao Xiaoxiu: I'm not happy!
But Sheng Qingyang's arrival did not give her a chance to process her emotions.
Sheng Qingyang walked over with a smile, unaware that the child was upset. He rubbed her little face and said, "Happy New Year."
"Master!" Zhao Xiaoxiu was overjoyed for a moment; it had been so long since she had seen her master.
But the next second he sighed and forced a smile, saying to Sheng Qingyang, "Happy New Year."
"Hmm, but you seem unhappy." If Sheng Qingyang couldn't detect the little guy's emotions, then he would have lived in vain.
She put down her backpack, picked up her two knives and a plastic bag, walked over, squatted down in front of the child, and asked with a smile:
"I have a gift for you, do you want it?"
Upon hearing this, the little girl, who had been in a bad mood just a second ago, immediately opened her eyes wide and looked at her expectantly, shouting, "Yes!"
Sheng Qingyang chuckled helplessly and handed her the plastic bag in his hand.
"What is it?" Zhao Xiaoxiu asked impatiently as she opened the bag to look inside.
Inside the dark plastic bag was a folded wide belt.
Zhao Xiaoxiu wasn't really sure either, but in any case, it must have been something her master had made for her.
Sheng Qingyang took the items out for the child, tied them around her waist, and said, "With this, you can carry the butterfly blades with you anytime."
Zhao Xiaoxiu looked with delight at the leather vest tied around her waist. The width and tightness fit perfectly. It was a vest-style vest with a place to put the knife, as well as many small pockets and compartments.
What surprised her most was that there was a spot on the left side where she could hang a pistol holster.
In other words, with this leather vest, she can bring any weapons she needs!
Sheng Qingyang tested the placement of his apprentice's twin swords in the pre-prepared positions on the back of his vest. The two swords were securely strapped to his back, and everything was perfect.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a suitable pistol, so I couldn't try out what it's like to be fully armed.
"Wow, this is great!" Zhao Xiaoxiu touched the leather armor, then took off her twin swords and put them back in to try them out. The leather armor, specially designed for her height and build, was very easy to use.
"Master~" Zhao Xiaoxiu opened her arms and hugged the woman in front of her, deeply moved. "Master, I love you so much! Thank you, Master~"
The particularly upturned tone, coupled with the little guy's constant rubbing of his head against her neck, made Sheng Qingyang want to die of cuteness.
Let alone a vest, now if the little one asks her for the moon in the sky, she will definitely find a way to knock it down for him!
"Alright, alright, that's enough." Sheng Qingyang suppressed his reluctance and forcibly pulled the little guy who kept nuzzling against him up and made him stand at attention.
She came today to teach the little guy new moves.
With her new disguise, Zhao Xiaoxiu now does whatever her master asks her to do, listens obediently, and studies diligently. Her good attitude makes Sheng Qingyang want to cherish her even more.
Inside the house, Zhao Gang watched the young boy outside the door meticulously practicing his swordsmanship, following his master's instructions.
Even with large, sweeping movements, the leather armor worn by the little figure fits snugly and does not hinder the cub's training.
Sheng Qingyang is a woman with some skills.
It's surprising that she, an outsider, could be so kind to someone else's cub; this doesn't quite fit Zhao Gang's stereotype of humans.
After all, even he, the biological father, never thought of making such a multifunctional vest for his own child.
Of course, even if he had thought of it, he couldn't have made it; his skills wouldn't have allowed it.
Zhao Gang stood by the door, secretly observing the interaction between Sheng Qingyang and his cub, and pondered deeply about the relationships between people.
After a long while, he suddenly said, "I'll cook the rest of the frog meat later, and you can stay and eat it with me."
He said those words to Sheng Qingyang in the coldest tone and with the coldest expression, then turned and left.
Sheng Qingyang looked down at her little apprentice in disbelief, "Your dad just told me to stay for dinner?" Was she hallucinating?
Exhausted and panting, Zhao Xiaoxiu, who was resting on a wooden stake, was stunned for a moment, scratched her head, and said uncertainly, "Is it true?"
A short while later, the master and apprentice saw Zhao Gang carrying an empty water tank, walking towards the river, filling the tank with water, tearing open the unused filter cartridge, and throwing it into the tank to filter the river water.
Of course, Sheng Qingyang didn't see the subsequent action of putting in the filter cartridge.
But when Zhao Xiaoxiu followed him to the backyard, she saw with her own eyes that her father had specially prepared filtered water because he wanted to have outsiders eat at home.
Zhao Xiaoxiu looked at the water tank, then looked down at the leather armor she was wearing. Could it be because of this?
Sensing the cub's thoughts, Zhao Gang, who was standing in front of the stove, looked up and said to Zhao Xiaoxiu, who was standing outside the window:
"It is impolite not to reciprocate. If we take something from someone, we should know how to return the favor. We cannot just take without giving back."
If anyone else had said this, Zhao Xiaoxiu would have thought it was perfectly normal.
But this is her living father!
She was a little flustered because it looked so much like a person.
"Dad," Zhao Xiaoxiu asked nervously as she entered the kitchen through the back door and leaned over the stove, "Are you still my dad?"
With a "smack," a bloody stinger hit her buttocks. Zhao Xiaoxiu jumped up with a scream, her first reaction being to quickly point towards the front door, reminding her father that there were other people around and she should be careful to conceal her identity!
Zhao Gang laughed heartily, unlike before when his laughter was intermittent; his laughter was smooth and continuous.
Zhao Xiaoxiu quietly patted her chest and breathed a sigh of relief. She'd confirmed it; it was still her living father.
A large bowl of braised frog with chestnuts was served. Sheng Qingyang sat in the dining chair, feeling as if his buttocks were covered in needles. He was restless, flattered, and incredulous.
Zhao Gang remained calm, placed a bowl and chopsticks in front of Sheng Qingyang with a "thump," and said expressionlessly, "Eat."
"That's really concise," Sheng Qingyang thought to himself.
To be honest, she couldn't even remember the last time she had such proper food.
