Chapter 134 Gangzi Won't Leave

Zhao Xiaoxiu hugged her father's neck tightly and asked worriedly, "What if this elevator suddenly falls down?"

Meng Er tried to scare her, saying, "It's hard to say, it depends on luck."

"Xiaoxiu, don't listen to his nonsense." Granny Meng glared at her son, then turned to Zhao Xiaoxiu with a kind smile. "She won't suddenly fall. She might get stuck occasionally, but it's nothing serious."

"We've arrived," Meng Da reminded everyone.

The elevator stopped on the twelfth floor, which is also the top floor of this building.

The houses in the outer city of Taoyuan Base are not very tall, mostly between seven and thirteen stories.

The Meng family, mother and son, rented a small cubicle in the corner of the top floor. On the way there, Meng Da said that the houses in the city looked better than the unfinished buildings, but in reality, they were much more chaotic than the unfinished buildings.

Each building here has a landlord, and the landlord has many landlady landlords who help the landlord collect rent and maintain order in the building.

Therefore, the people you absolutely cannot offend are not the landlords, but rather these landlady landlords and landladies.

Because tenants cannot directly contact the landlords, the rent and other arrangements are decided by the landlords.

"The neighborhood across the street is better; it's an affordable housing complex built by the Taoyuan Base government, and it's guarded by soldiers."

Meng Da pointed to the building across the street, then to the small, closed room in front of him. "That's the apartment we rent. It's only 15 square meters, with two bedrooms. The rent is 280 points per month, and utilities are extra."

The building has running water and electricity, and there are plenty of public restrooms, making it the place that the Meng family, mother and her two children, are most satisfied with.

Meng Da enthusiastically led the way and soon arrived at the door. Just as they were about to ask Granny Meng for the key to open the door, the tightly closed door suddenly opened from the inside.

Meng Da was startled and instinctively stepped back to block Zhao Xiaoxiu and the others behind him to prevent any accidents from happening.

Granny Meng immediately put her hand inside her coat, ready to draw her gun at any moment.

Four young men and women came out of the house. The one in the lead was holding a bottle of expired, cheap beer and reeking of alcohol. He leaned against the door and made a preemptive statement.

"What are you doing? Who are you?! Are you looking to die?!"

Meng Da's expression changed, and his gaze quickly swept over the four people, only to find that the cotton coats that he and his brother had just bought but hadn't had a chance to wear were being worn by the two women.

The furniture and furnishings in the room were all overturned and scattered. There were bottles and burnt coal residue all over the floor, tables and beds. The once cozy and tidy room was now a complete mess.

Meng Er's temper flared up instantly. He rushed forward and grabbed the scarred man by the door, yelling, "What the hell did you do in my house?!"

Seeing this, the remaining three men sneered and pulled out their pistols, but did not step forward to stop Meng Er, confident that he would not dare to make any other moves.

The scarred man, instead of getting angry after being arrested, laughed, "Meng Qiu, you need to get this straight. Your whole family has been kicked out. This is my territory now, and I can do whatever I want on my own turf!"

"I didn't expect you to be back so soon. You're lucky to be alive. Did you get help?" The scarred man walked past Meng Er and looked provocatively at Zhao Gang and his daughter standing behind Granny Meng.

Meng Er yanked hard on the scarred man's collar, forcing him to face him, and roared, "Get them out of my house!"

The scarred man was in pain, and his smile vanished. He raised the bottle in his hand to smash it over the scarred man's head.

"What are you doing!" Meng Da snatched the bottle away, protecting his younger brother, and the two brothers shoved the scarred man hard against the wall.

The other three rushed up immediately, two pointing guns at the two brothers and one pointing a gun at Granny Meng.

The woman pointing at Granny Meng roared with a ferocious expression, "You old hag, tell your two sons to take a good look at whose house this is! The landlord said this morning that this house is now rented to us, so you'd better get out!"

"If you don't get out of here, don't blame us for being impolite. Don't think that just because the authorities say you can't shoot, no one will dare to shoot in the base. Our Brother Hao has people protecting him. Whether or not he uses a gun is just a matter of a word."

With the gun pointed at their heads, the Meng brothers had no choice but to release the scarred man.

The scarred man, now free, walked over with a grin, glancing at Granny Meng, who was blushing with anger, and then at Zhao Gang, who remained expressionless.

Finally, his gaze fell on Zhao Xiaoxiu, and he raised an eyebrow in surprise, scoffing, "Oh? A single dad taking care of a kid?"

Meng Er, not wanting Zhao Gang to be dragged into this, shouted urgently, "Xiao Hao!"

The scarred man turned around and looked over. "What?"

“We can discuss it,” Meng Er said through gritted teeth.

Meng Da sighed softly and said, "Let's discuss it again."

The scarred man gestured with interest to his two men to put down their guns. When the two brothers turned around, he crossed his arms and asked, "How do you want to discuss this? Tell me."

His eyes were filled with disdain, and although he said he wanted to discuss it, he didn't really want to.

Meng Da saw through this, but there was nothing he could do. He raised his hand to signal his impulsive younger brother not to speak and escalate the conflict, and frowned as he said:

"We paid six months' rent, and we've only lived here for three months. Give us back the rent for the remaining three months, and we'll leave now, otherwise..."

"Otherwise what?" Xiao Hao pressed on, a smile on his face, but his eyes were fixed on Meng Da like a venomous snake.

If he dares to utter a single extra word, he's considered ungrateful and deserves to die!

Granny Meng noticed the woman pointing a gun at her glance, and suddenly drew her gun, rushed forward, smashed the gun out of the woman's hand with her fist, kicked her away, and grabbed the woman by the throat before she could react, pulling her into her arms.

But just as she was about to raise her gun and aim it at Xiao Hao, her two subordinates reacted and were about to actually fire.
