Zhao Gang was in charge of the arrests, while the Meng brothers were responsible for the binding and packaging.
With everything packed up, the four prepared to descend the mountain.
Suddenly, a thunderclap boomed in the sky.
The thunder seemed to rumble right next to their ears, making all four of them tremble.
Meng Laoda's expression changed. "It's going to rain."
This is no ordinary rain.
The rainwater contains excessive levels of the SHASI virus. If people and mutated plants and animals are exposed to this rain, they will go berserk.
This is all because everyone is carrying the virus in their bodies.
Logically speaking, Zhao Xiaoxiu, a child who was not infected with the virus, should be fine even if she got caught in the rain.
But Zhao Gang still put on the raincoat he had prepared before leaving home and covered his cub tightly inside it.
The Meng brothers quickly took out their hooded raincoats and covered themselves from head to toe.
Also, cover the two sacks containing the mutated hyenas with a plastic sheet to prevent them from going berserk.
As the four were about to head down the mountain, it was as if the sky had a leak, and a torrential downpour began.
My vision was instantly blocked by a dense web of rain and mist, and I couldn't see anything at all.
The mutated plants and animals in the forest are also afraid of this kind of rain, and those that can find shelter will find a place to hide.
The mutated weeds that had previously tried to cut Zhao Xiaoxiu had all withered and shrunk to the ground, covering their roots.
Zhao Gang and the other two looked at each other in bewilderment. They knew they couldn't go down the mountain unless they wanted to fall to their deaths.
Another clap of thunder startled Zhao Xiaoxiu, who instinctively clutched her clothes and buried herself in her father's raincoat.
Zhao Gang had broad, calloused hands. He covered his cub's ears with one hand, then turned his eyes and pointed east with the other, saying, "There's a building 300 meters away. Let's go there to take shelter from the rain."
Gangzi would occasionally demonstrate his knowledge of the mountain, such as which direction to go and what mutated animals might be present, or where ghosts might emerge. It was as if he had a radar, able to detect these things in advance.
So without hesitation, Meng Laoda and Meng Laoer immediately followed their brother Gangzi and ran quickly eastward.
