Chapter 226 So hungry he was gnawing on vegetable leaves

Zhao Xiaoxiu had no particular idea at first, but her curiosity was piqued by Xiaofeixia's retelling. Just as she was about to agree, Zhao Gang's indifferent gaze swept over her.

"It's raining, it's dangerous outside." Zhao Gang wouldn't let them go; it's wet outside, and the cubs are prone to getting sick.

Zhao Xiaoxiu smiled at her father, declined Peter Pan's invitation, and told him to go by himself.

With Peter Pan acting as her "spy," she can bring back firsthand intelligence from the outside world.

She should just listen to her father and stay home comfortably.

Even without Zhao Xiaoxiu's company, Peter Pan wasn't sad. The next day, he happily went out by himself, all by himself.

It loves rain so much, the more the better, because the bigger the rain, the less humans will notice it, and the less attention other mutant species will pay to it.

Moreover, it is completely different from before, and there is no need to worry about it turning into a mindless berserk monster after getting wet in the rain.

Not all mutant animals are as lucky as Peter Pan; he adores his current little owner.

So it was very proactive in bringing back new things it saw outside to tell her, making three round trips a day, as if it wished it could carry a phone with it so it could tell her the latest news on the spot.

Unfortunately, fish don't have five fingers. Not even one.

Through the glass window, it saw Sister Monkey cracking sunflower seeds and pressing remote controls, and for the first time in its life, a look of envy appeared in its small fish eyes.

Sometimes when the rain lessens, I know the people on the mountain run down to find shelter, and they fight every day. So Peter Pan has to suspend his outdoor activities. Let the bullets fly for a while.

It would hover outside the second-floor balcony window, peering curiously at the images playing on the thin black frame inside the room.

So, a fish couldn't help but start thinking, why didn't the cat named Tom eat the mouse named Jerry after catching it?

After four days of continuous heavy rain, mutated plants have re-emerged in the isolation zone of the planting area.

Even when training soldiers, they dared not set off rashly in such heavy rain, and could only urge the lords to be careful and protect themselves and the crops in the fields.

The lords near the forest encountered some minor troubles, but overall things were alright. Everyone was well-prepared, and the average strength of the lords was also strong. The situation in Area B was much better than the other two planting areas.

Since the rain started, Zhao Xiaoxiu and her father have stayed indoors, only taking a short walk in their own yard each day, and at most going as far as the adjacent plantation to check on the vegetables.

The rain was like a powerful tonic for the mutated plants. The mutated vegetables planted in April all sprouted and grew into a lush, green expanse that made one's mouth water.

Zhao Xiaoxiu wanted to eat vegetables, even just a simple vegetable salad would be fine.

Those low-grade mutated cabbages with leaves swaying wildly in the rain in the vegetable jar under the flower wall were planted in February and are now ripe to eat.

Zhao Xiaoxiu secretly endured the whole night, waiting for their leaves to grow as tall as a person. When the leaves were fully unfolded, she didn't hesitate, and with a "snap," she cut off one and took it home.

Before it could react, the mutated cabbage frantically swung its tender green and white leaves, slapping Zhao Xiaoxiu across the face and body.

But this little bit of strength is like a tickle to the cub, which is full of ox-like strength and has a super strong self-healing ability. It poses no threat at all.

The fresh aroma of the vegetable leaves wafted onto her face and into her nose, making Zhao Xiaoxiu tremble with desire. She opened her mouth wide and couldn't resist taking a bite.

When Sister Monkey pulled the crazed cabbage from the baby's arms, she saw its bulging cheeks, chewing away with gusto. Its eyes were narrowed, completely absorbed in the moment.

"Squeak?" Sister Monkey was puzzled. Does it smell that good?

It couldn't resist tearing off a leaf that was trying to fan itself, and snatching it into its mouth. Because of the cub's blissful expression, its expectations were very high.

To her utter surprise, a bitter taste, not strong but undeniable, quickly spread across her mouth along the tip of her tongue. Monkey Sister was so angry that she spat it out, her face turning pale, and she retreated repeatedly.

The cabbage, thrown on the ground, shook its leaves wildly, quickly making the kitchen floor shine.

Zhao Gang rushed over from the tool shed and first saw his little one pitifully munching on vegetable leaves. He affectionately rubbed her little head before bending down, picking up a banana-sized leaf, and throwing the whole cabbage onto the cutting board with a "thud".

His sharp gaze swept over the wall full of knives and he selected the sharpest kitchen knife.

"Tomato and cabbage salad? Or potato and smoked meat stew with cabbage?" Zhao Gang gave two choices.

The old father's eyes were filled with heartache; the baby was so hungry that she was even gnawing on lettuce leaves. He had to quickly make her something delicious.

Sister Monkey hadn't forgotten the bitter taste. She kept waving her hands, telling the cubs not to eat it, to throw it away, because it was too awful.

Zhao Xiaoxiu stamped her foot firmly, "Fresh and crisp, with a sweet aftertaste, what's a little bitterness? It's delicious!"

She turned to her father and asked, "Can I have both?"

"Of course." Zhao Gang smiled with satisfaction, he loved seeing his little one with such a good appetite.

"Wait a minute, Dad, it'll be ready soon." After giving the instructions, Zhao Gang swiftly and skillfully chopped up the swaying cabbage, bringing it to a neat and tidy state.

Tear off the pieces of the sweeping cloth outside and discard them. Break off the rest and wash them in water. After draining, quickly rinse them in hot water.

Instantly, the lively leaves stopped moving and remained motionless, no matter how they were pressed onto the cutting board and chopped.

The rich aroma of stewed potatoes and meat quickly filled the entire kitchen, even attracting the attention of the Meng brothers next door, who came over in raincoats and umbrellas to see what was going on.
