Chapter 8 Abebe

The blood-red tentacles shot out with a "whoosh," snatched the nutrient solution from Zhao Gang's hand, and threw it hard to the ground!

Zhao Xiaoxiu reacted quickly and picked it up, preventing all the nutrient solution in the plastic bag from leaking out and being wasted.

Upon seeing that she had actually picked up such a terrifying thing, the tentacle instantly swelled and extended, unfolding into a fleshy bud the size of a bathtub, hissing menacingly at Zhao Xiaoxiu.

It seemed as if she wouldn't be swallowed up if she didn't get rid of this terrifying thing.

But the next second, Zhao Gang grabbed him by the throat and slammed him against the wall.

Zhao Xiaoxiu heard a muffled "thud" and the tentacle slid down from the wall, curling up in the corner like a wronged dog.

She calmly raised her small hand and wiped away the sticky liquid that had flown onto her face.

Since her father couldn't drink the nutrient solution, she didn't need to be polite and drank the rest of the nutrient solution!

After eating and drinking her fill, Zhao Xiaoxiu woke up her father, who was squatting motionless in front of her, and decided to tidy up the room.

The room was small and had no windows; the furnishings inside were all old and worn.

But Zhao Xiaoxiu still wanted the place to be clean.

Zhao Xiaoxiu's biological father is not a clean man.

Before I was a year and a half old, my mother was still alive. Back then, we hadn't been able to live in the unfinished building yet, but the place where the three of us stayed was always clean and tidy.

But after the mother's death, the father and daughter's lives went straight into hell mode.

Zhao Xiaoxiu is a little girl who can't even walk steadily, so even if she wanted to clean, she was powerless to do so.

She endured this until she was two and a half years old before Zhao Xiaoxiu gradually figured out how to clean by climbing up and down.

Unfortunately, the moment her biological father returns, all the cleanliness and tidiness she has painstakingly maintained vanishes.

While holding the small broom that she had asked Uncle Meng to make for her, Zhao Xiaoxiu diligently swept the dust off the ground.

She directed her husband to wash the dirty clothes he had changed out of that morning.

She prayed silently in her heart that this living father was not the same as her biological father.

The living father readily agreed, immediately extending two tentacles to grab the dirty clothes and swirl them in the basin of water, then began to slam them down.

Zhao Xiaoxiu: "......"

People can actually laugh when they're speechless. Even a three-year-old is no exception.

Facing her father's bright, vertical pupils, Zhao Xiaoxiu remembered her mother's words—treat them like kindergarten children, and you won't get angry.

So the little one put down the broom, went to the basin, and treated his living father and his terrifying tentacles like kindergarten children, patiently repeating the same thing over and over again.

Finally, I taught them how to properly wash clothes.

First, wash only the dirty areas to save water.

Secondly, rinse it thoroughly with clean water.

Finally, wring it dry, shake it out, and hang it on the clothesline outside the corridor to dry. Perfect!

Zhao Xiaoxiu: "Dad, have you learned it?"

Zhao Gang nodded, looking at his clean clothes fluttering in the evening breeze, and felt that he was really awesome.

He learned how to do laundry, something that most men find difficult, in just ten minutes!

There was a noise coming from the next room; the Meng family, mother and her two children, had returned together.

Even though Meng Lao Er tried to lower his voice, the joy of receiving the goods still reached the next room.

The two brothers left the base and entered the forest area today. Their haul was pretty good. They didn't get a live hyena, but they did get a dead one, which earned them 20 points.

Not only that, the wild fruits in the forest area were all ripe, and they found a bag of edible wild fruits with a mutation level below C.

Grandma Meng was overjoyed. She set up the stove and pot, intending to make the wild fruits she couldn't finish into preserves.

The aroma of fresh fruit wafted out from under the door, making passersby swallow hard.

Some people in the building had their eyes on the idea, but when they thought of the two Meng brothers, they could only regretfully give up.

However, there are still some shameless people who take their children to knock on people's doors, looking pitiful.

Grandma Meng is always a little soft-hearted towards children, but she is not soft-hearted towards all children.

They won't even open a crack in the door for you.

If you have hands and feet, can't you go out of the farm and pick the fruit yourself if you want to eat it?

"They're always trying to take advantage of others. Their lives are lives, but my son's life isn't?!" Granny Meng cursed.

Upon hearing this, both Meng Lao Da and Meng Lao Er couldn't help but laugh.

Meng Lao Er suddenly felt that the injury on his leg didn't hurt as much anymore.

As the mother and her two children were enjoying a rare and sumptuous dinner, there was another knock on the door.

However, the person knocking on the door wasn't there to ask for a bargain; it was their neighbor from next door.

"Brother Gangzi, are you really sure?" Boss Meng asked in surprise.

Zhao Gang nodded, didn't say much, and having conveyed his meaning effectively, turned and left.

Despite his injured foot, Meng Lao Er hopped out the door on one foot and excitedly urged, "Brother Gangzi, let's set off at 6:30 tomorrow morning."

Zhao Gang replied, "Okay."

She closed her own bedroom door behind her, picked up the curious little one, put her on the bed, tucked her in, and said, "Little Sleeve, go to sleep."

Zhao Xiaoxiu jumped out of bed in a flash. "Dad, are you sure you want to go with Uncle Meng and the others to catch hyenas?"

Zhao Gang stubbornly pressed her back down, and two tentacles stretched out to cover her with the blanket.

"Go on missions, get more points."

Zhao Xiaoxiu didn't get up again. She folded her hands in front of her chest, rested her head on them, and turned her head to watch Zhao Gang busy in the room.

"Dad, you have to be careful not to let these tentacles come out." If the Meng brothers find them, it will be a big problem.

Zhao Gang didn't seem to hear him. He rummaged through the pile and found a stick, a roll of hemp rope, a machete, and a sack.

These are the most basic things for going on a mission.

But then he went to start a fire and boiled all the remaining water in the bucket, then poured it into Zhao Xiaoxiu's kettle.

He also took a long coat and an old, tattered bed sheet from a snakeskin bag in the corner that contained clothes, sheets, and other miscellaneous items.

Zhao Xiaoxiu's eyes widened instantly: Dad, what are you going to do to my Abeibei!

This was found outside when her mother was still alive. Zhao Xiaoxiu slept in it from infancy until she was two and a half years old.

The bed was so worn out that it couldn't be used as a mattress anymore, and her father wanted to throw it away, but Zhao Xiaoxiu secretly hid it.

Whenever she misses her mother, she secretly takes it out and hugs it to sleep.

It smelled like her mother, and it made her feel at ease.

Fortunately, her father simply took her baby out and placed it at the foot of the bed; he didn't intend to throw it away.

Zhao Xiaoxiu secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

He glanced at the tentacles standing above his head, their bloodshot eyes fixed on him.

She darted under the covers, arching her backside, and taking advantage of the tentacles' inattention, stealthily moved to the foot of the bed, scooped up her baby and tucked it under the covers, holding it tightly in her arms.

The little face rubbed against her affectionately, and as she rubbed, she fell asleep.

As Zhao Gang was packing the cubs' water, nutrient solution, long-sleeved shirts, and other supplies into his bag, he glanced back and noticed a bulge in the blanket on the bed.

He tilted his head, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth; it seemed the cub really liked the tattered bedsheet he'd found.
