The macaque swept its paw up and grabbed the mutated loach in its hand. Its sharp teeth were exposed, and it lowered its head and bit down. The smell of blood quickly filled the air, and the mutated loach was instantly cut in two.
But it didn't die; its lower half fell to the ground, and the bloody wound frantically burrowed into the earth.
Zhao Xiaoxiu picked up a stone and threw it again, but the mudfish's body, which was as thick as her wrist, was difficult for her to grip. In addition, the slime made it slippery, so the stone always missed its mark and did not cause any damage.
It merely prevented the mutated loach from burrowing further into the ground.
The macaque bit off the other half of the head, freezing the frantically writhing, meter-long body in place.
After finishing what it was doing, the macaque immediately went to help Zhao Xiaoxiu. Unexpectedly, just as it stretched out its paw, a gunshot rang out from behind it. The bullet flew over its head and landed in the grass.
Mud and grass clippings flew out, startling the macaque. With quick reflexes, it shielded Zhao Xiaoxiu with its body, rolled on the ground, and swiftly climbed onto the bridge pier, hiding in the bridge arch.
A second later, a bullet flew to the spot where they had just been standing, killing the half-writhed mutated loach.
Zhao Xiaoxiu looked up in the direction from which the bullet had come, still shaken.
One woman and two men, three armed youths, swaggered out from the forest area to the north, which belonged to Lord Number One.
The three of them soon arrived at the loach's corpse.
The older man said with delight in his thick local dialect, "This loach is quite fat."
The woman spotted the hoverboard containing the fish, raised an eyebrow in surprise, and then took out a detector to check the fish and loach. All of them showed green lights, and she couldn't help but smile with delight, "Looks like I'm in luck today, I can even get a hoverboard for free."
Another, younger man pointed his gun at the bridge, scoffed, and said, "They ran pretty fast."
"Is it an adult with a child?" the woman asked, puzzled. They had been quite far away, and the grass was rather thick, making it difficult to see clearly.
The young man shook his head. "No...it looks like a monkey and a child?"
He wasn't sure anymore, since the two species didn't seem like they could get along harmoniously.
"Fine, let them run. Take the stuff and let's go." The older man gestured for the two to take the spoils and prepare to leave.
"This seems to be the planting area of the Hope Base, so let's avoid causing trouble," the older man advised.
"Boss, you almost killed that child just now."
The woman and the young man exchanged a playful laugh, as if they hadn't caused any trouble at all.
However, since the other party chose to abandon such an expensive hoverboard and run away, it means that their strength is not that great and they are not worth fearing.
The three of them dragged the suspension board across the bridge and prepared to leave without any psychological burden.
"stop!"
An angry child's voice suddenly rang out.
The three turned around in surprise and saw a little girl, about three or four years old, wearing a red hat, standing on the bridge, her hands clenched into fists, looking at them angrily.
Beside her stood a monkey as tall as a person, growling menacingly at them.
"It really is a monkey!" the older man exclaimed, his eyes filled with curiosity, not at all believing that the macaque could pose any threat to them.
Because the detector doesn't light up at all.
This might just be a slightly mutated macaque that's grown to a larger size.
"Hey kid!" The woman tugged at the rope holding the hoverboard and asked teasingly, "Where are your parents? Why did they let a little kid like you go out by yourself? It's very dangerous outside, you know."
Zhao Xiaoxiu was furious at their shameless attitude and said fiercely:
"Give me back my things!"
The young man chuckled, "What is it that's yours? Tell me."
Zhao Xiaoxiu: "Hoverboard, fish, and the loach that Sister Monkey and I killed!"
The three of them exchanged a glance and burst out laughing. Children are indeed very naive.
The woman pretended to look around in front of the hoverboard, then shrugged apologetically, "Sorry, the child's name isn't written on it."
"Let's go," the older man urged, not wanting to waste time with a little kid.
The woman and the young man nodded, and before leaving, they pointed their guns at the macaque and Zhao Xiaoxiu, a provocative warning.
The two thought the little kid would be crying loudly, feeling wronged and scared, so they waited a few extra seconds with great anticipation.
Unexpectedly, the little girl opposite suddenly revealed a strange smile.
The two frowned, and for some reason, a chill suddenly welled up in their hearts.
Maybe the wind was too cold today.
"Boss, let's go..." The two turned around to follow the older man, but were caught off guard when they saw the 'boss' hanging in mid-air, tightly wrapped by a bloody tentacle. They looked up in a panic and met a pair of eyes that were cold and devoid of any warmth.
Did I say you could leave?
Zhao Gang's calm tone lacked any human emotion.
A chill ran through both of them.
The older man's neck was tightened by the blood, his eyes bulged out, instantly turning red and tears streaming down his face. He also kept spitting out blood, his lips moving as he tried to warn the two team members, but no sound came out of his throat.
With his back to Zhao Gang, he didn't even know what was binding his whole body and throat. He only felt his own weakness and the terrifying power emanating from the tentacles on his body.
It was so terrifying that he couldn't even muster the thought of resisting!
Zhao Xiaoxiu complained, feeling wronged: "Dad! They took my things and won't give them back."
He then looked up at the man and woman in front of him and said coldly, "Weren't you looking for my parents? They're here now."
The woman and the young man were terrified and immediately fired at Zhao Gang.
Before they could even pull the trigger, two bloody tentacles flashed and pierced their eyes, instantly penetrating their brains!
The gun fell to the ground, and the two men collapsed, their bodies convulsing violently before they were lifeless.
The older man watched helplessly as his two teammates died with blood piercing their skulls, his eyes bloodshot with rage.
His bulging eyes stared in horror at the two terrifying fleshy tentacles flying behind the little girl, and he hissed in a hoarse voice: "What...what are you...monsters!"
Before the last word could be uttered, it could never be spoken again.
The tentacles pierced the man's throat, quickly silencing his unpleasant voice and giving him a quick death.
In less than a minute, three corpses appeared in front of Zhao Xiaoxiu, and the splattered blood covered the ground, but not a drop of blood touched her body.
The macaque squeaked with satisfaction. If the cub's father hadn't appeared, it would have definitely taught those three bad guys who bullied the cub a lesson!
Zhao Gang quickly brought the hoverboard to his cub, hugged her, and gently patted her head: "No one is taking Xiaoxiu's things anymore, Daddy has already taken care of them."
Zhao Xiaoxiu gripped her hoverboard tightly, leaned against her father's chest, and nodded: "Mmm!"
Next time she goes out, she'll definitely bring both the gun and the axe!
No one can take her things away from her again!
