Chapter 58 Creatures and Combat

She smiled nonchalantly, and the next second she pulled five small knives from the weapon pouch on her leg and threw them at the whistling boys.

Her movements were so fast that the male students hadn't even seen what she was doing when they heard a loud thud as half of the blade was deeply embedded in the solid wood table in front of them, only a finger's width away.

The blade still vibrated with residual force, and five small knives were thrown and hit their targets in just three seconds. This speed, accuracy, and power were beyond the reach of ordinary people.

This intimidating moment was even more frightening than the homeroom teacher's, and the classroom fell into an eerie silence once again.

“My name is Timmy Hannah, and I’m your biology and combat sports teacher. Those boys seem to be very energetic; I’ll definitely take good care of you in tonight’s class.”

Timmy's voice was very pleasant, but the boys didn't think so; they just felt like they were doomed.

"You don't need to be afraid. I don't have any manic-depressive disorder. You can give me back the knife now."

Timmy smiled very calmly and said that the five boys hesitated and dared not step forward, but under her pressure, they still tremblingly sent her back.

Timmy said sarcastically, "Thank you for your help."

In short, the five boys almost knelt down in disbelief.

The white device on her temple flashed a blue light, and the screen behind her immediately displayed the content of today's class.

It is called a biological organism, but it also involves a bit of geography, and it is completely different from the organisms that Losi is familiar with.

She talked about the mutated animals and the environments and regions where they lived.

The animals on the screen looked bizarre, some even resembling lumps of flesh. They had clearly mutated after being exposed to radiation.

Losi couldn't help but think of the brown bear she had hunted, which had hardly mutated at all, and there didn't seem to be any animals with such severe mutations at the gathering points near the refugee camp.

"You might think these animals pose no threat, that everything can be dealt with with firepower, right?" Timmy asked, noticing the confusion in the crowd.

Many people nodded in agreement; modern weapons are indeed very advanced.

However, a small number of people had already guessed what Timmy was going to say next.

"So how come they can resist high levels of radiation and have evolved different abilities?"

The screen behind him played the next photo: a rat bigger than a dog spitting ice spikes at fully armed soldiers, and the brown earth was frozen white.

The next photo shows a spider the size of a house, with limbs that are comparable to the size of a two-story building.

The most terrifying thing is that beneath its spider web lies a dark purple pool of poison, where you can vaguely see several blackened human skulls floating.

It was spitting venom at the camera, and the venom was surrounded by purple vapor. It was obviously extremely poisonous. Just inhaling a breath of the venom would probably take half of your life.

There are countless similar photos, featuring all kinds of animals. What's most terrifying is that they also possess various abilities, including all five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.

The most terrifying aspect is its spatial ability; in the video, dozens of tanks bombard it relentlessly, and helicopters drop explosives from the sky, yet none of them can break through its defenses.

It was just a tiny white butterfly, no bigger than the palm of your hand, fluttering leisurely in its own space, displaying its graceful form. The tanks and explosives outside seemed merely to provide fireworks for its stage.

Just then, Losi couldn't help but raise her hand: "Teacher, it looks like it only defends and doesn't do any harm. Why is the army killing it? It shouldn't be harming humans, right?"

Teacher Timmy, who was about to turn the page, paused, glanced at Losi, and then looked seriously at everyone: "Yes, it has never caused any loss to humans."

The students in the classroom couldn't help but start discussing it: if it was harmless, why kill it?

Teacher Timmy said seriously, "But the mistake lies in its incredibly powerful abilities. The army didn't kill it; after mobilizing countless troops, they successfully contained it, designating it w-A5."

It's currently used for experimental research. If you get a chance to sit in a certain position someday, you might be able to see it for yourself.

When she spoke of it, Ms. Timmy's tone held a hint of reluctance; she felt that humans were indeed too cruel to w-A5.

"If one day you receive instructions from your superiors to kill or contain a completely harmless but capable plant or animal, would you do it?"

This question sparked even more discussion.

Many people volunteered to answer the question, and they were roughly divided into two camps: some said they wouldn't do it because it would be too cruel.

Some believe that human sacrifice is inevitable for the sake of their home, let alone for animals and plants that lack intelligence.

Timmy listened to everyone's opinions, and they all made sense. She looked at Losi at the very back, the top candidate in the election, and the only one of the ten people to come to the United Academy.

So she knew her name: "Lossie, you can answer the question as the one who asked it."

Losi rested her chin on her hand, not giving a direct answer to whether to capture or not: "Sacrificing some innocent people or things ultimately stems from a lack of strength. Only when we humans are strong enough can we avoid some unnecessary sacrifices."

Instead of discussing unknown sacrifices, we should focus on studying hard and striving to improve the strength of our planet.

She actually suggested increasing the education coverage rate, but resources and infrastructure are insufficient, and the most basic food problem must be solved as soon as possible. This leads her astray, so she only touched on the topic briefly.

These words immediately aroused the dissatisfaction of the classmates.

"Damn, who does she think she is? When the teacher asked if we were going to choose, she told us to study hard..."

"You're just pretending. If I had known you could answer like that, I wouldn't have said you sacrificed yourself."

"She's stolen all the limelight. She'll get the highest score on the exam, and I want to get the scholarship..."

...

Timmy chuckled at Rossi's answer, said "not bad" and continued lecturing. Since she had said that, he couldn't afford not to teach her properly.

The three morning classes passed quickly, and the closest school building to the first-grade classroom was the cafeteria.

Following the flow of people, Losi went straight to the first floor; the second floor was beyond her budget.

Most students chose the first floor, and it wasn't long before it was Losi's turn.

The dishes are simple: stir-fried cabbage (7 points), braised pork (20 points), stir-fried eggs with chives (10 points), and rice (5 points).

I didn't expect the price to be so much cheaper than the second floor. Although both are moderately irradiated, it's still a great deal.

Losi ordered cabbage, braised pork, and rice, totaling 33 points. However, the portion she received was pitifully small, only half the amount of a normal meal.

No wonder it was so cheap, but she was quite satisfied with the 33 points for vegetables, meat, and staple food.

What she didn't know was that the dishes on the first floor of each cafeteria were subsidized; otherwise, a meal of vegetarian dishes and rice would cost at least 50 points.

After finishing her meal, Losi found an empty classroom and began reviewing what she had learned that day and previewing tomorrow's academic lessons.

Afternoon classes start at 5:20, giving her over seven hours to study. Meanwhile, others are still taking their lunch break. If she doesn't get the scholarship, who will?!

Losi, inspired by her success, worked even harder and unknowingly became engrossed in her studies.

She knew that if she didn't work hard, she would never be able to compete with those who had studied from a young age, especially rich girls like Nicole who were definitely well-rounded.

The person I was before my rebirth was indeed very outstanding, but now that I'm in a strange world, I have to relearn even the most basic knowledge.
