Losi: "The source crystals are so useful, but they're not meant for humans to use for free. Every time a source crystal is extracted from the ground, Planet Ajell will lose a piece of land and become an irreversible dead land."
"Dead land? Will things improve after the radiation subsides and afforestation takes place?" At this moment, Ye Wu thought that the dead land that Luo Xi was talking about was just like a desert.
The base taught them how to fight against humans and mutated creatures, and also taught them a lot about the environment, but never mentioned the word "dead zone".
Losi remained indifferent; once the radiation subsided, Ajer would be almost gone.
"No, without the source crystal, no living thing can grow on the land."
Ye Wu lowered his eyes and pondered for a long time before saying, "You mean that Source Crystals are equivalent to the 'energy' of our planet? Only land with energy can grow plants, and places without Source Crystals are the same as those outside, right?"
Seeing Losi nod, Ye Wu's breathing unconsciously became heavier. Wouldn't the tribute every 10 years be the death of the planet on which everyone depends for survival?
Perhaps in a few hundred years, once the underground source crystals are exhausted, no plants will grow on Planet Ajeel, and humanity will become extinct.
The dead zone was larger than Losi and the others had imagined, because there were no obstacles, and the hovercars were moving twice as fast as before.
Even so, it took three whole days before we saw any greenery.
After another three days of driving, including dealing with an A-level mutated creature along the way, they finally arrived on the evening of January 27th.
The Adlington family, including the Deep branch, who were the hosts, sent people to greet them.
Finally, Losi and the others naturally checked into the place provided by the Deep family branch.
95% of the people in Safe Zone One are white, blond, and blue-eyed, so people like Losi and Ye Wu, who are mixed-race with black hair or pure Asian, are quite novel to them.
That evening, a family dinner was held, and many people came to chat. Some of the words they used were slightly different from those in Safe Zone 3, but basic communication was not a problem.
Losi found it quite boring to watch these people's curious yet slightly disdainful attitude.
The decorations of the branch family's house were not much different from those of the main house. The two families lived too far apart and did not have close contact. Over a hundred years, generation after generation, their relationship had become increasingly distant.
Rebecca, sitting next to the head of the table, was surrounded by a group of middle-aged men who were urging her to drink. This family division didn't place her in a subservient position at all.
Suddenly, a striking figure of a black-haired, Asian man came into Losi's view.
Apart from a few servants with black hair, almost everyone in the Dipp family was pure white.
Although the person was dressed simply, the materials were of excellent quality, and it was clear at a glance that he was not a servant.
She didn't dress up at all, yet she was dazzlingly beautiful. Her tall and well-proportioned figure, soft facial features with just the right amount of curves, and almond-shaped eyes filled with aloofness made her stand out among the group of white people with deep-set features.
It's like an elegant and serene white crane mixed in with a flock of fiery birds.
A thought popped into Rossi's head: Could she be Scarlett? The runaway Shari?
She has the ability to change her appearance, so the beautiful woman in front of you is her true appearance?
But one day, Nicole mentioned that the Adlington family had already compensated Deep for the separation of the family.
Now that she's appeared at the Deep family's branch office, does that mean she was eventually taken back or married into the family?
Before Rossi could confirm, she had already walked over.
"Hey Torrey, why did your wife suddenly come out today? She usually stays at home all day and ignores everyone. But seriously, even though she's not white, she's really attractive. You're lucky, kid. Too bad you can't handle her, hahaha."
Torri, who was being teased from a short distance away, looked over and realized that his wife had actually come out.
As she headed toward the people in safe zone three, Tori narrowed his eyes in displeasure. There were several men in that area; could she have been having an affair with someone before?
Torrey, still worried, strode over, grabbed Shari's hand, and whispered threateningly in her ear, "What are you going to do? This is a family dinner. If you do anything out of line, you're dead."
Sari forcefully shook off his hand, took a step to the side to create distance, and rolled her eyes at him: "What I do is none of your business!"
After saying that, she walked quickly towards Losi. Torrey stomped his foot angrily. He was so unlucky to have married such a person. For the sake of harmony between the two families, he couldn't do anything, and besides, he couldn't beat her anyway.
Shari approached Losi and said directly, "Shall we talk in private?"
Losi raised an eyebrow slightly. She and Losi didn't have much interaction, and they had never even exchanged a single word. What could Losi want with her?
Thinking this, Losi stood up from her chair and followed her to a quiet corner of the garden outside the banquet hall.
Shari didn't waste any time and stated her purpose in seeking her out: "Help me escape, and I'll help you steal Adlington's vault, no, to be precise, the Source Crystal Vault."
"Why would I steal the Source Crystal? I don't have any projects to research." Losi said, looking bewildered, but in her mind, she was cursing a million times. How did she know that she wanted the Source Crystal and even believed that it could help her escape?
Her ears were frantically picking up sounds from the surrounding area; there were no surveillance cameras within 50 meters, so it was safe to talk here.
Instead of explaining, Shari looked at the sky outside the wall and said, "I saw you before the election. You came back to life."
A storm raged within Lossie. Wasn't Shari from Safe Zone Two? Judging from her words, she had lived in the refugee camp for several months? Otherwise, how could she have seen the original owner of this body or herself when she first arrived?
She was quite agitated inside, but she remained remarkably calm: "It's just hearsay. I was just unconscious and pretending to be dead at the time."
Shari's expression was calm, as if she were stating a fact: "You are Losi, but you don't have to be."
"Can't be? Do you mean I have another identity? Actually, I'm not Rod's daughter, and my parents are someone else?" Cold sweat broke out on Rossi's back. She understood that Sari didn't mean that, but she couldn't admit it. If she did, she would have something on Sari.
Shari: "Some things sound impossible, but people more than a hundred years ago could not have imagined that people today would have abilities that transcend reality. You could be one too, going from a refugee to a champion standing at the top of the ability pool."
Losi felt ashamed. She had deduced that she was not the original owner of this body simply because she had been resurrected and made rapid progress. Her ability to make connections was extraordinary.
However, she still pretended to be clueless: "I don't quite understand what you're saying. Am I really Rhodes' child?"
Seeing that Losi was unmoved, Shari finally lost her composure and raised her voice: "Whether it is or not is not important. What is important is that you participated in the tournament to leave this place, right? You have things you want to accomplish."
These words struck a chord with Losi. Even if she won the public tournament and received a reward of 50 million or even 100 million points, it would still be far from enough to save her home planet.
