Chapter 139 Monkey Troops, Sonic Attack

In addition, everyone carried at least one handgun for self-defense. Bob and Ye Wu also carried knives, and Bob also carried a rifle.

The group of seven headed towards the woods ahead, putting on earplugs along the way. The monkeys' most troublesome attack was their sonic attacks, and while these earplugs couldn't completely block them, they could reduce the strain on their ears.

They can communicate using sensors.

"Ugh! Ugh ugh!"

Before the group even entered the monkeys' territory, they were spotted by monkeys that were keeping watch in the trees.

Bang--

Losi lowered her gun, and the monkey's carcass fell from the height.

Everyone glanced at Losi out of the corner of their eyes, but said nothing.

Looking closely ahead, there was a pile of bones where the monkey had fallen, including those of animals and humans. Some bones had been completely weathered away, while others still had bits of flesh remaining, emitting a foul stench.

Harpos said in a deep voice, "Prepare to attack." He then spoke privately to Losi, "Don't stray more than 3 meters from me."

"Yes!" all six answered in unison.

"Go!" Harpos gave the order and charged ahead into the woods.

After being warned and hearing Losie's gunshot, the monkey troop realized there was an enemy and quickly assembled. Before the seven people could even enter, they were already surrounded by hundreds of monkeys.

Some of them stood on tree branches, while others climbed on tree trunks, making noises and baring their teeth at the group of outsiders.

"Attack." Hapos expressionlessly spread his arms to the sides, creating an invisible barrier that protected everyone.

While others couldn't sense the shape of the barrier, Losi could clearly perceive that it wasn't spherical but a cube-shaped barrier, with everyone in the very center, exactly 3 meters from the edge.

Hongyan fired a fireball first, and the monkeys scattered in a swarm with a shout. The fireball exploded so fast that it didn't even hurt a single monkey.

However, this action successfully provoked the anger of the monkeys, who jumped down from the tree with their mouths open, displaying their foul-smelling, yellowed teeth, aiming directly at the human's throat.

But the group was not to be trifled with; Xiao Qi's metal spikes, Losi and Bob's bullets, and Hong Yan's flames were unleashed once again.

The mutated short-tailed monkeys are not very strong defensively; a modified rifle is enough to penetrate their bodies.

Xiaoqi's metal spikes pierced straight into their hearts.

Unable to change their trajectory while airborne, the second attack from the red flames proved effective.

The death of a few monkeys didn't matter to the monkey troop; they could kill the intruders immediately. But who knew they would just run into thin air?

The monkey's corpse just stood there in mid-air. The monkeys didn't understand what was happening, but they still knew to run for their lives. The moment the third wave of attacks arrived, they scattered and fled.

A few even scratched and bit at the air barrier, but unfortunately, it had no effect whatsoever.

Ye Wu stood still, carefully searching for the Monkey King's whereabouts.

The mutated monkeys were extremely fast, and in such a short time, most of the monkeys had gathered together.

The nearby tree trunks were teeming with monkeys, roughly estimated to be over a thousand, chattering like mosquitoes.

Occasionally, one or two monkeys would be sent out to test the waters, but when they couldn't get past them, the monkeys would stop trying and instead just observe the humans from above.

The attacks kept coming, but they could easily dodge everything except bullets.

Even so, the efficiency is still too low. Monkeys are not only fast but also predictive, and they run away before you can even aim your gun.

It takes several minutes to catch one or two monkeys.

Harpos didn't want the stalemate to continue: "Little Seven, break the tree."

"Yes." As Xiao Qi replied, an oversized, handleless machete flew out from behind her.

Her whole body was tense, focusing her strength on her muscular right hand. The cleaver moved with her movements, and she swung it 180 degrees from right to left with all her might.

Guided by its surroundings, the floating machete swiftly passed through the barrier and reached the nearest tree, moving so fast that everyone could only see a blur.

The monkeys in the tree thought they were being attacked, so they jumped away from the tree ahead of time.

The machete was incredibly powerful, swiftly cutting through a tree so thick it required one person to encircle it, and then charging towards the second, third, and so on...

Before anyone could see anything clearly, the machete had already returned to Xiao Qi's hand and was hovering there after only three seconds.

Losi, standing to the side, saw everything clearly. In her mind, she slowed down the speed of the machete. The power Xiaoqi gave it allowed it to cut down trees as easily as cutting paper, without any pause. The largest trees required at least three people to encircle them, but it passed through them with ease.

Xiao Qi's abilities are at least dozens of times greater than Jiu Nai's. Jiu Nai's metal spikes, when used well, rely on their sharp points, easily piercing through flesh. But if she were to use a cleaver like Xiao Qi's, she probably couldn't even cut down a single tree.

This is the difference between an ordinary genius and a genius at the very top.

Thump, thump, thump...

The machete was too fast; the trees are only now falling one by one.

Some monkeys that didn't have time to run away fell to the ground like dumplings being dropped into a pot, and a few unlucky ones were crushed to death.

The monkeys became restless, their cries growing increasingly shrill.

The falling tree stirred up dust and sand, which, along with the smell of excrement on the ground, traveled through the barrier and reached everyone.

All seven of them wrinkled their noses in unison, and the cold wind made their faces turn red, except for Losie and Bob, who were a little better off.

Even so, the group did not forget to attack, taking advantage of the chaos to kill many mutated monkeys.

Once the sandstorm subsided, the monkey troop was enraged to discover that so many of their companions had died.

One of the monkeys was the first to shout, "Ooh!"

The other monkeys immediately followed, baring their teeth fiercely at the group.

What was clearly a normal cry suddenly seemed to explode into everyone's ears as if by magic.

Even with earplugs, the sound directly assaults the nerves in the brain, threatening to shatter them at any moment.

Losi covered her head with her left hand in pain, but actually she didn't feel anything except that it was a little noisy.

With energy protecting her, the sound waves had no effect on her at all. She didn't even need to mobilize energy to protect her head; the energy that had already been integrated into her flesh and blood was enough to resist them.

The others were clearly affected, wincing in pain and almost unable to stand.

Losi covered her head with one hand and threw a grenade at the perfect moment with the other.

Thud—

The loud explosion interrupted the monkey's spellcasting, giving the group a moment to catch their breath.

The situation was urgent, and before anyone could even think about who threw it, their hands were already attacking again.

At this moment, a patch of slightly withered weeds at their feet emitted a unique and indescribable energy, as if it carried a powerful force of growth and gradually merged into everyone's bodies.

Others did not have such a clear feeling, only knowing that their headache had been relieved.

It was Ben who made his move.
