The clan chief dared not stop; she slowly raised her arms, signaling the clansmen to sing even louder.
And Losi heard His voice once again.
“Cassili…”
The voice rang out only once before falling silent, not even giving Losi a chance to reply.
Suddenly, all the energy gems of the underground coal-carrying aliens turned grayish-white, lost all their energy, and drooped down.
The clan leader was shocked, but looked around and found nothing unusual.
Guided by the hymn, they needed to collect 100 energy gems. She knew that even if a miracle occurred now, it wouldn't restore the entire planet. However, the miracle suddenly went awry, giving her a bad feeling; it seemed the planet was becoming even weaker…
The others were also terrified, and the ground was in an uproar. The clan chief was also panicked, but he had to pretend to be calm and appease his people.
A bolder citizen spoke up and asked, "Chieftain, why has the energy gem turned into this?"
After a moment of contemplation, the chieftain said solemnly, "It's...it's a good sign that the planet has accepted our tribute. As long as we work hard to gather 100 kinds of energy gems, it will definitely recover."
The strange chieftain wasn't lying; she genuinely believed it was caused by the planet's reception, but whether it could be restored was still uncertain.
The people below cheered and jumped for joy. Could it be that a bright tomorrow was really coming?
Foods that were previously hard to swallow now tasted much better.
However, some people are worried that the environment is getting worse and worse, and the food that each person can get is getting less and less. Will they be able to hold on until the next time their tribesmen come back?
It's hard to survive in interstellar space without some skills. Those who went to interstellar space were able to return once by collecting tributes on their ships, and the energy gems they brought back on each trip were few and far between.
Even if they can hold on for another ten years, what about twenty, thirty, or even a hundred years...?
These energy gems are worth a lot of money. What will they do if the next offering is still not enough and they don't have these energy gems to pay off their debts?
They don't know it, but they can only numb themselves and quietly enjoy the moment's pleasure. Living happily is always easier than living sadly.
He finished his meal in a few bites, patted his empty stomach, and knew it was time to go dig for black coal again...
Taking advantage of the few people around, Losi bent down and entered the cave.
They had barely entered a fairly spacious area, just enough to stand upright, when they were spotted by the children of the Black Coal Star people.
They chattered away for a while, and then more children surged over, completely surrounding Rossi, chattering in a language Rossi couldn't understand.
It was a little girl who recognized Losi and squeezed her way in.
She pointed at Losi and then at the sky, then tilted her head and asked her how she got there.
Losi flapped her hands like small wings twice, flew over, then pointed to herself and placed her hands on the ground beneath her feet.
Seeing that Losi wasn't aggressive, the surrounding children started curiously tugging at her clothes and hair, and almost started fighting over touching her.
The girl looked at Losi's actions with a mixture of understanding and confusion, and carefully pulled her inside by the fingertips of her left hand.
Seeing the thin, big-headed, small-bodied children following her, Losi waved her hand to avoid trouble, and thousands of nutrient solutions rained down from the sky.
Regardless of whether they were shocked or not, all the children reached out to grab it. They were so hungry. This thing looked a lot like something called a nutrient solution that they had eaten a few years ago; it was all in strips.
The little girl glanced back, her dark eyes filled with longing. After hesitating for two seconds, she still took Rossi's hand and walked forward.
She remembered this beautiful older sister. About four years ago, she handed her her food. She could only eat such delicious food on her birthday, and the portion was not that big. Although it was a rare treat to eat with her mother that time.
As she walked, something was suddenly stuffed into the girl's hand. She looked down and saw three nutrient solutions and a soft, golden-yellow thing wrapped in transparent plastic, about the size of her palm.
Losy walked hunched over in the hole, making a gesture of tilting her head back to eat, indicating that it was edible.
The little girl glanced briefly at the kindly smiling Losi before lowering her head, her ears burning slightly. She was the most beautiful human she had ever seen.
The little girl said thank you, though she didn't know if Losi understood. She continued to lead the way, carefully tearing open the nutrient solution and eating it in small, precious bites. It tasted so good, like the fruity aroma she had smelled when trading with the patriarch star.
She gently squeezed the small cake, and the sound of plastic packaging rubbing against each other echoed in the quiet cave. Finally, she held it to her nose and took a light sniff. It had a faint fragrance that she couldn't quite describe, but she thought it smelled much better than the coal mine smell that was everywhere. She just didn't know what it would taste like.
She sniffed it contentedly, but didn't open it; she wanted to save it for her mother to eat together when she returned.
Losi saw through her thoughts and took out a small cake from her space and handed it to her. She put the remaining two nutrient solutions and one of the small cakes into her bosom before tearing open the other small cake to eat.
Just as the cake was about to touch her lips, the little girl raised her hand and presented it to Losi.
Losi was slightly taken aback, but she politely took a small bite and then pushed the food back to her so she could eat it herself.
Looking at the sensible little girl, Rossi felt a surge of affection and gently patted her head.
The girl swallowed a mouthful of water, took a bite expectantly, and in the dimly lit cave, her eyes gleamed with a frighteningly bright light.
Wow, food outside is so delicious!!!
She couldn't wait to take the second bite. It was so sweet!
She had drunk the sugar water before. When her father died in the mine, the clan chief gave each victim's family some supplies, including a spoonful of white sugar.
My mother took out a little bit and made herself a bowl, then used the rest to exchange for more filling and delicious food.
That bowl of sweet soup was the best food she had ever eaten besides the nutritional supplement, but now that there's this yellow stuff, the sweet soup can only be ranked second.
She ate half of a small cake but couldn't bear to finish it. She left half for her mother and kept the unopened half for later, which she could exchange for more food with the clan chief.
The little girl wanted to know the name of the product, so she pointed to the words on the packaging and looked at Losi with bright eyes.
Losi said, word by word, "Small cake."
"Little cake?" The little girl tried to imitate it very seriously. Although the three words were a bit difficult for her to pronounce, she imitated them very well.
Losi patted her small head, giving her approval.
The little girl lowered her head and giggled, silently practicing the words "little cake" in a low voice.
After walking for more than ten minutes inside the cave, the two finally emerged and arrived at the mining area.
