Chapter 148 Bob's Favor

Bob, who hadn't returned yet, immediately rushed over with a machete, and Xiaoqi also helped by controlling the machete.

With such a large wound, the machete easily separated the mutated chimpanzee's head and body.

Seeing the head, which was about half the size of a truck, Bob had Xiaoqi bring him a metal hook, inserted it into the chimpanzee's head, and then dragged it away.

This animal weighs at least a thousand pounds, if not a ton, and Bob drags it twice as fast as an average person.

However, the mutated chimpanzees chasing after them were only a kilometer away. With their enormous size, they could reach this location in less than a minute.

What's worse is that there were five of them, two of which were 10 meters tall. With each step they took, the ground shook.

Harpos didn't move, letting the others go first. After Bob, who was at the back, passed him, he stretched out his arms in front of his chest and slowly slid them to the left and right.

A thin barrier slowly rose, forming a long, high wall that blocked the path of the five mutated chimpanzees.

Bob knew that Harper was trying to buy them more time to escape, so he rushed toward the car with all his might.

Faced with five such enormous mutated chimpanzees, Harpos couldn't help but swallow hard. His barrier wasn't invincible; it would break if the damage was high enough.

He couldn't withstand the power of just one, so instead of imprisoning the dead mutated chimpanzee, he had Galu trap it.

All he can do now is stall for time.

Smelling the blood of their companions, the mutated chimpanzees went berserk and charged toward this place, with all five crashing into the invisible barrier one after another.

Hapos's face turned pale instantly, and he almost couldn't stand up straight. The weight of several tons to more than ten tons slammed into the barrier, and he barely managed to hold on with almost all his strength.

He still underestimated their power.

The mutated chimpanzees were blocked in their way. Having never seen such an ability before, they were momentarily stunned for a few seconds before raising their fists to punch the thing in their way.

After barely managing to withstand five punches, Hapos couldn't take it anymore. He removed the barrier and retreated quickly; another punch would make him vomit blood.

His speed is also quite fast, almost twice that of an average person.

The base trains people not only in terms of ability but also in terms of physical strength. Even someone like Jack, who isn't in good physical condition, has physical abilities that exceed the average level of a normal person, although he is far inferior to those with special abilities.

The mutated chimpanzee was unaware that the barrier was gone. Seeing the last human about to run away, it frantically pounded on the barrier with all its might.

It nearly fell over after a sudden, awkward effort, but luckily it walks on all fours and managed to maintain its balance by bracing itself against the ground.

Upon discovering that the obstacle blocking their path had disappeared, the five mutated chimpanzees immediately began running in the direction the humans had left.

Losi, Ye Wu, and Jia Lu arrived at the vehicle first. Seeing how anxious they were, the two guards realized they were about to escape and quickly sat in the driver's seat, waiting for their teammates to arrive before leaving.

Ye Wu got into another car, and Jia Lu followed suit, while Ben got into yet another car.

Lossie quickly opened the back door of her car and waited for Bob to arrive.

The combat vehicle is larger than an off-road vehicle but slightly smaller than a four-wheeled truck, just big enough to fit the head of the mutated chimpanzee.

The tremors beneath their feet became increasingly noticeable. Bob and Hubbard arrived almost simultaneously, followed by the mutated chimpanzee a few hundred meters behind them.

Lossie waved for the head to be placed there, and Bob immediately stopped behind the car with the head in his hand. He lifted the stinking head and threw it in with a thud.

The combat vehicle swayed, its body lowered by the pressure.

Without hesitation, Losi closed the car door and got in at the same time as Bob. Harper got into Ye Wu's car a second before she and Bob.

With all personnel present, the vehicle immediately started moving.

After taking off quickly, it accelerated and disappeared from the sight of the mutated chimpanzee, which was only a little over a hundred meters away.

They pounded their chests and roared in anger, knowing they could no longer catch up.

Losi's car was too heavy, so it was inevitably a little slower and gradually fell behind the other two cars.

Bob, panting, looked at Losie with lingering fear: "Thank you."

When he said this, the multi-functional sensor on his temple was not lit, so others could not hear him.

If Losi hadn't opened the car door in advance and been waiting, several seconds would have been wasted, and it's hard to say whether those big guys would have been able to catch up.

Losi gave her a reassuring look: "We're teammates, it's only right."

Bob nodded, glancing with lingering fear at the receding figure of the mutated chimpanzee in the rearview mirror. Even a newcomer like Losie treated him like a teammate, while some others…

Before the team spots were decided, everyone would fight and scheme against each other, which was one thing. But now that they're teammates, only Losi opens the car door for him.

Although they didn't do it on purpose or intend to harm him, they didn't consider his feelings, which made him resentful.

We've known each other for so many years, trained together, and always done our best in our tasks. In the past, we've never harmed any of them, and I've even acted as their babysitter.

He sighed inwardly, feeling even better about Losi. Hapos was also good, doing what a captain should do.

Harpos quickly chose a resting spot with slightly lower radiation levels, and by the time everyone arrived, it was already 8 a.m.

This is a rocky area with many natural caves. The space is quite large, and everyone drove in together with their cars.

Everyone got out of the car, and Ye Wuhua transformed into a black shadow and quickly surveyed the cave, whose length was unknown. A minute later, he transformed back into human form and appeared in front of everyone.

"There are only some small crawling insects, and I haven't seen any dangerous places yet."

Hapos nodded, his face pale: "Then let's rest here."

Ben took out a potion and handed it to Hapos, explaining that he couldn't heal the injuries caused by the depletion of his abilities and could only rely on the potion.

Harpos took it, deftly tore open the vial, which was about the same size as the nutrient solution, and drank it down in one gulp.

Seeing that no one moved, Bob resignedly picked up the purification spray. His combat uniform, which was facing away from everyone, was soaked through. The combat uniform was very effective at absorbing sweat and waterproofing, and it was impossible for it to be visible unless there was a particularly large amount of sweat.

Seeing this, Losi took the purifying spray from his hand: "I'll do it, you rest first."

She finished spraying in a few quick strokes, while Bob, his legs trembling slightly, sat on a stone on the ground. The power and speed he had just displayed looked amazing, but it was the result of him exerting all his strength, and he was now somewhat exhausted.

Lossie opened the car door, took out some basic supplies, gave Bob and herself a bottle of water, and placed the supplies next to Harper. She told the others to get the supplies themselves.

Bob received the water from Lossie, whispered a thank you, and then drank it down in large gulps.
