A monster that is neither human nor ghost
"I put you in charge of such an important mine, and this is how you repay me?"
Eight healed tentacles emerged from the black slime like sharp spikes, and gradually merged into the appearance of Shen Wanren, with the whole person hanging steadily above the rock wall.
The gunshots rang out again, and the flames from the flamethrower all poured down on Shen Wanren.
Tan Meng stared in astonishment at Shen Wanren, who had mutated into an octopus. He forced himself to raise his gun and shoot, "To help you transport these experimental materials, so many of my brothers have been sick every now and then. As soon as their bodies mutate, they are thrown into the Ninth District. You still have the nerve to ask me for repayment?"
The compound eyes on his chest all turned towards Tan Meng, and a bloody grin spread across the corners of his mouth: "I'm doing this for the future of mankind. Since you don't understand, then dedicate your strength to the future of mankind."
Shen Wanren, whose body was hanging on the rock wall, didn't even dodge, but just used his tentacles to push away the bullets. Except for the explosive bullets, the other bullets seemed to have no effect on him at all, and were all blocked by his rubber-like skin.
"Surprise?"
"Fuck..." Tan Meng slid down to the ground, the breath of anger in his heart finally dissipated. He looked at the monster staring at him intently and suddenly laughed nervously, "Brother Chen...you and I have been brothers for more than ten years. Considering that this is my first offense, you can let me go this time..."
Before he could finish his words, a purple tentacle swept across, and the rock wall behind Tan Meng was shattered into pieces. The stone scratched his cheek, and bright red blood slowly flowed out.
"Okay, kowtow to me three times." Shen Wanren chuckled, his expression surprisingly gentle. "Since you've given me so much nourishment, I'll spare you this once today. After you kowtow, get out."
Tan Meng was overjoyed and only wanted to survive. He quickly got up and kowtowed three times to Shen Wanren. He didn't care what his fellow miners thought of him. He turned around and rushed out the way he came.
"If others want to escape." Shen Wanren looked at the cowering miners with interest, "They can try too."
The leaders had already run away, and the miners had no desire to fight anymore.
The first man dropped his gun and ran out, followed by the second, the third... more and more miners began to throw away their weapons and armor.
"Everyone, hold your formation steady! Fight and retreat at the same time!" Song Xuan roared at the increasingly unstable team. "This monster won't let us get away so easily!"
But most people ignored his advice. Even the leader had left. Who would listen to a new miner? In a short while, the opposing formation, which had only about a hundred people left, completely collapsed.
“Then, let the escape game begin!” Shen Wanren looked at those people crowded at the exit like sardines, and his laughter involuntarily overflowed from his chest and echoed throughout the cave with a creepy echo.
He deliberately slowed down the pace of killing, enjoying everything that was happening. He watched the chaotic scene with amusement and let the surviving miners flee into the tunnel like headless flies.
He was not in a hurry to stop those who were escaping. There was almost no human emotion on his face, only an almost insane joy.
It is an incomparable feeling of being able to control other people's lives at will.
Even as the dungeon lord, there were always those who wanted to rebel against him. For example, Tan Meng, who had just escaped, appeared to be working tirelessly and obeying his orders, but in reality, he was secretly preparing to kill him and seize the first district.
However, in the face of absolute power, he still fled in panic.
Liu Xia noticed that Shen Wanren seemed to be deliberately creating chaos. Whenever someone was about to escape to the exit, tentacles would suddenly shoot out from the ground, forcing them back to the center of the death vortex, playing with those who dared to challenge his authority like cat and mouse.
"He's enjoying this..." Liu Xia pressed his back against the cold rock wall, his breathing a little unsteady from dodging the tentacle attacks. He turned to Song Xuan, who was also panting beside him and said, "This won't work. We need to find his weakness."
Now on the other side of the cave.
As the leader of the mine, Tan Meng, perhaps because his physical fitness was much better than that of ordinary miners, or because fear stimulated his potential, actually left the miners who ran out after him far behind.
Tan Meng, who could barely see the cave entrance, was struggling to climb up the stairs. He kept reaching out to scratch his uncomfortable body, with a nervous look of joy on his face, and kept muttering to himself, "We're almost there, we're almost there..."
But Tan Meng didn't notice that his body was slowly shriveling up, and the tiny nematodes that had entered his body through the scratch on his face were constantly devouring his body.
He stumbled and fell on the stairs. Tan Meng was horrified to find that his legs began to collapse strangely and shrank like a deflated balloon. His Adam's apple rolled and he opened his mouth to shout, but he only vomited out a large pool of black mucus. Before he could get up again, blood holes the size of fingernails began to spread all over his body.
“Shen Wanren never intended to let him go from the beginning!”
Until his entire body turned into black slime, Tan Meng did not take another step.
The pool of black slime that Tan Meng had transformed into seemed to have become a living thing. It slid down from the gap between the stairs and flowed towards the place where it came from like water. Only a gem ring shining with dazzling light and some hard broken bones were left in its place.
The armed miners who were treated as toys by Shen Wanren in the hall fell one after another. Some were crushed by tentacles, some were accidentally injured by their companions, and some simply turned the muzzles of their guns and aimed them at their own solar plexus in despair.
Corpses were scattered everywhere, almost covering the entire hall, including the bodies of Shen Wanren's dead guards, piled up like mounds in the cave.
Shen Wanren's eight tentacles seemed to have their own consciousness. While slaughtering the lives in the field, they also commanded the fluorescent people to attack Liu Xia and Song Xuan.
Song Xuan looked at everything happening in the field with a serious look, his throat tightening as he said, "The mucus is devouring these corpses."
Liu Xia gasped for breath and crushed another mutant core to replenish her energy. Tearing the fluorescent man and tentacles apart repeatedly caused huge consumption on her body. The hand holding the gun turned white due to excessive force, and the crack on the palm of her hand slowly healed.
There are only a few mutant cores left, which makes Liu Xia feel a little anxious.
She squinted her eyes and carefully observed every move of Shen Wanren. Suddenly, her eyes lit up and she finally found Shen Wanren's flaw.
"The arm that supports his body is thinner and weaker, and its ability to absorb mucus has also slowed down."
Song Xuan looked over at that location as he was told. Sure enough, that tentacles were thinner than the other tentacles. When the purple-black limbs were swinging, the mucus secretion on the surface was obviously insufficient, revealing several cracked skin.
Liu Xia quickly scanned the battlefield and quickly drew up a battle plan. He lowered his voice and said to Song Xuan beside him, "Go to the right rear and attract Shen Wanren's attention. Help me buy ten seconds. Leave the rest to me."
"Okay!" Song Xuan nodded without further ado.
He swung the silver thread in his hand quickly and nailed it at the target. With a slight flick of his wrist, he flew towards the agreed position. In the process, he nimbly replaced the remaining incendiary bombs and fired at Shen Wanren's forehead and chest while shouting, "You monster that's neither human nor ghost, let Master Song play with you!"
Shen Wanren, who was still toying with the miners, felt the bullet coming, and his tentacles seemed to have life and spontaneously raised up to block it, but were abruptly blown off by the incendiary bomb.
This attack caught Shen Wanren's attention. With a hissing sound that made his eardrums buzz, three tentacles suddenly extended and stabbed at Song Xuan like javelins: "To think that a lunatic from Leviathan had sneaked in!"
