Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Even He Tianlin and Liu Xia, who had been working in the Colosseum for so long, couldn't help but frown and cover their mouths and noses with dustproof cloth to block the wind and sand.

The full view of the laboratory came into view at the end of the stairs. The 300-square-meter space was filled with cylindrical culture chambers and dissection tables. Baby-sized creatures were suspended in each chamber, some with queen ant mouthparts, and some with spines turned outward to form scorpion tails.

In the middle, there was a giant black hatching egg, with more than a dozen drained human bodies hanging around it, and many broken limbs scattered around. The hatching egg had already been hatched and the top had exploded.

Ji Tao was actually conducting experiments on humans and mutant creatures.

"Crash!" The sound of the petri dish exploding came from the incubation chamber, and cracked glass fragments and culture fluid poured down and scattered all over the ground.

"Xiao He, be careful! Slowly retreat to the door!" Liu Xia shouted softly, pointing his gun at the source of the sound.

He Tianlin's greatest strengths are his intelligence and obedience. Upon receiving the command, he quickly threw the cold light stick in his hand towards the source of the sound, and then took out a few more cold light sticks from his backpack and lit them up. Now was obviously not the time to save money.

While throwing the cold light sticks to nearby locations to expand his vision, he slowly moved towards the entrance.

There were several more sounds of breaking glass and water coming from the depths, and they could faintly hear the sound of machine gun fire from downstairs, but it still couldn't stop the feeling that something was crawling towards them quickly, and the speed was getting faster and faster!

The blue light of the cold light stick could barely illuminate an area about fifty meters around Liu Xia and He Tianlin, but Liu Xia could see that there were four half-human, half-reptile creatures crawling towards them, shaking their heads and tails.

The blue light twisted the creature's body into a ghostly shadow on the slime-covered wall, revealing four pairs of scarlet compound eyes. The sound of its scales scraping against the ground made a rustling sound, and it actually pounced towards Liu Xia, who was closest to it. If it weren't for its upper body being very similar to that of a human, it would have looked like four mutant lizards.

"Da da da!!" He Tianlin's assault rifle spewed out orange flames at the right time, smashing the monster in the front to pieces.

But the remains of the body with its upper body shattered still kicked hard with its lizard-like hind legs, and a bone spur with a white glow popped out from the tail vertebrae, brushing past Liu Xia's ear and piercing into the incubator.

"What the hell is this thing!" He Tianlin cursed.

Liu Xia had just dodged the bone spur by turning sideways when she saw the second monster hanging upside down from the ceiling. A barbed tongue stretched out from its split throat and poked towards her eyes.

"These things seem to be directed by a mastermind!"

Liu Xia grabbed the tongue and pulled it hard, tearing the entire tongue apart. He kicked the monster that was pulled down from the ceiling and smashed it into pieces. Red and green blood mixed with brain matter splattered everywhere, and the wound on his hand that was scratched by the barb and exposed red flesh quickly healed.

The remaining two monsters were also shattered by He Tianlin's gunshot. These monsters not only merged with humans, but also merged with at least two or three other mutant creatures.

Although it is difficult to deal with, fortunately it is not in its complete form and its body is relatively fragile. For the two battle-hardened people, it is not very difficult to deal with as long as they dodge in time.

At this moment, the alarm suddenly tore through the silence, and a red light began to shine, barely illuminating the entire laboratory. The compound eyes of the experimental subjects in all the culture chambers opened at the same time, and the human mouths had mutated into mouthparts, making a harsh hissing sound.

But the most terrifying thing is not their protruding ribs or scorpion tails, but the fact that each face retains human features, and those children's facial features are melting in the mutation.

All the culture chambers began to depressurize simultaneously with the sound of alarms. The experimental subjects inside continued to struggle in pain. Once the pressure was released, they would collectively break out of the chambers.

"Damn! Ji Tao is such a beast! How many children has he harmed?"

He Tianlin felt his scalp tingling and stared in amazement at the hundreds of incubation chambers under the strange red light. His vision was limited just now and he didn't realize that there were so many of them.

"Get out of here quickly." Liu Xia looked gravely into the depths of the laboratory and said in a serious tone, "An even bigger guy is coming."

The monster in the shadows screamed like a baby, and hundreds of pairs of orange-yellow compound eyes flickered in the darkness.

The machine gun fire on the second floor had stopped, and there was no living creature breathing except the waiters who had already gotten into the reserved defense equipment.

The waiters walked out of the defense device with weapons in hand, but the lights in the house were still not turned on. The entire second floor was barely illuminated only by the emergency lights.

"Brother Long, that little bitch should have been beaten into a pulp." The waiter who led Liu Xia smiled flatteringly at the only man in black clothes in the field.

He was afraid that the man named Brother Long would use him to slice the meat. After all, he was the one who brought in the customer who shot the chef in the head.

Brother Long rubbed his messy hair in annoyance, and stepped on the almost shattered limbs at his feet, crushing them. The brain matter squeezed out fine foam in the anti-slip grooves. It was not known whether it belonged to the customer or the waiter who did not have time to dodge.

He knew that even if he killed the woman and saved the restaurant's reputation, the boss would definitely not let him off easily because so many customers had died. After all, he was the restaurant's foreman, so he had to find a scapegoat.

But then the scapegoat just happened to run into him.

Brother Long stared at the smirking waiter in front of him, and suddenly remembered the incompetent guy he dealt with three months ago. He made a similar whimpering sound when his throat was shredded by the meat grinder. He couldn't help but laugh: "Who said it wasn't?"

The waiter was completely oblivious and diligently kicked the broken arm out of the way: "It's all thanks to Brother Long's good command. If it were me, I should have put those troublemakers away..."

When the gunshot rang out, the waiter was still bent over, and the splattering blood sprayed out firework-like patterns on the wall.

"That woman who vandalized the restaurant was the one you let in. She deliberately colluded with the scavengers outside to destroy the restaurant, and she still wanted to fish in troubled waters. No way!" Brother Long waved the pocket pistol in his hand. The white smoke from the modified firearm dissipated as he waved. He tilted his head and looked at the others with a sneer, "Isn't it, brothers?"

"That's right, Brother Long, it's all this kid's fault!"

"That's right! A traitor!"

"If Brother Long hadn't decisively activated the mechanism, who knows what kind of chaos that woman would have caused!"

The other waiters echoed Brother Long, fearing that they would be implicated if they were not careful.

"Alright, I'll tell you when the boss gets back." Long Ge nodded after getting a satisfactory answer and said, "Who the hell shut down the energy system? It's pitch black, so damn unlucky!"

Brother Long cursed as he opened the mechanism button of the closed space. He felt that it was really unfortunate that he had to clean up the mess of flesh and blood in the room. However, he could not show too much in front of his subordinates, so he could only vent his anger on the broken arm on the ground.

The alloy steel plate that sealed off the restaurant slowly rose, and faint light streamed into the house through the gaps in the windows, revealing the blood plasma and pieces of flesh on the ground, making the floor, which was already stained with a mixture of blood and oil, even dirtier.

Before the waiters had time to figure out who turned off the power, they heard a series of gunshots suddenly coming from the entrance to the third floor.

Everyone looked towards the source of the sound in panic.

Brother Long widened his eyes in horror. Amid the creaking sound of the chains in the mechanism, he saw the woman who he thought was shot to pieces by the machine gun, miraculously rushing down from the third floor with a young man in lead-gray protective clothing.
