People wearing badges

People wearing badges

Liu Xia quickly put down her phone and looked towards the door vigilantly, and saw the attending physician in a white coat pushing the door in with an intern.

"Patient Liu Xia, I'm your attending physician, Chen Mingyuan. Your test results are out."

Chen Mingyuan held a blue folder with several A4 papers on it. He flipped through the paper reports and continued, "There's nothing serious wrong with your body, except that your white blood cell count is a bit abnormal. This may be related to your frequent loss of consciousness. Miss Liu, does your family have any genetic diseases or has they been exposed to any radioactive substances recently?"

Liu Xia frowned slightly, as if thinking about what Chen Mingyuan said.

The monitor beeped regularly. After a moment, Liu Xia shook his head and said, "There's no similar genetic disease in my family. As for radioactive substances, I don't recall ever coming into contact with them."

After listening to this, Chen Mingyuan pondered for a moment and took two steps towards Liu Xia who was lying on the hospital bed.

Liu Xia subconsciously wanted to hide, but as Chen Mingyuan approached, she suddenly froze, her attention completely focused on the attending physician's white coat.

There was a blue rectangular name badge hanging there at this time, which read "Chuancheng First People's Hospital, Chen Mingyuan, attending physician", and there was a red ID photo next to it.

Liu Xia controlled her movements and let Chen Mingyuan take out a small flashlight from her pocket, pry open her eyelids and shine it into her pupils.

After the scan, Chen Mingyuan stood up and subconsciously poked the test report with the tip of his pen. He then turned back and said to the intern, "Schedule the patient to go to the radiology department for a CT scan this afternoon and a bone marrow puncture tomorrow."

The conversation between the two people sounded distant and near in Liu Xia's ears, and the message sent by Liu Feng came to her mind.

Beware of blue badge wearers

"Is it just a coincidence?"

Liu Xia shook his head, trying to get rid of the thought.

Putting aside the question of whether this doctor's badge and the so-called blue badge are the same thing, Liu Feng himself is not a good person, and it is hard to say how true or false the information he provided is.

After a brief exchange with the attending physician about the intern's physical condition, Chen Mingyuan took the intern out of the ward.

When the footsteps gradually disappeared at the end of the corridor, Bai Fei immediately locked the door.

Bai Fei reached out and touched Liu Xia's forehead, looking at her with some concern: "Is there something wrong with this Doctor Chen? I see that your expression is not right."

Liu Xia closed his eyes and shook his head: "It's okay, maybe I'm overthinking it."

She didn't know if it was because she had stayed in the wasteland for too long and Liu Xia was always in dangerous situations, but she felt that even if she returned to the real world, she would still be subconsciously on edge.

Logically speaking, Liu Feng was just a piece of trash who wanted to eat up her family and wipe out the whole family. He shouldn't be able to stir up trouble around her. She had to call the police while she was still sober and accept investigation. As long as the police found evidence that Liu Feng hired a killer, she would be completely safe.

As for the fact that he tore off Liu Feng's arm, since there was no evidence captured by the surveillance video, it should be difficult to prove that he was guilty of intentional injury.

Why didn’t Liu Feng turn the tables and call the police first?

Liu Xia guessed that he might have ulterior motives and was afraid that the police investigation would lead to the discovery of his hiring a thug to hit someone, which would implicate him as well.

As to whether the surveillance was destroyed by humans or because the power brought from the wasteland world affected the surveillance, Liu Xia did not know.

This is too unbelievable.

I'm afraid that if she tells others about it, only Bai Fei will believe her. If it were others, most people would think she is crazy.

Liu Xia lay on the hospital bed, put one arm on her forehead to block the sunlight coming through the blinds, and squinted at Bai Fei: "Fei Fei, I don't want to stay in the hospital anymore. Come with me to the police station."

Bai Fei looked into her eyes steadily, thought for a moment and said, "Okay, I'll go and help you with the discharge application procedures."

Although my legs have not yet recovered their mobility, I can no longer delay reporting the matter to the police. Even if the police don't find out anything in a short period of time, at least I can prevent the situation where the enemy is in the dark and I am in the open.

Liu Xia is now unable to move around easily, so she could actually wait for the police to send someone over, but she doesn't want to wait any longer, as who knows when her consciousness will return to the wasteland world.

As for the fact that the attending physician Chen Mingyuan asked Liu Xia to do a CT scan in the afternoon, she didn't actually take it too seriously.

Liu Xia knows more about her physical condition than the doctors. Except for not being able to walk, everything is normal. With her current strength, she could even kill a cow without any problem.

After completing the discharge procedures for a temporary stay, the two quickly took a ride to the police station near the hospital.

Inquiry room of Chuancheng Police Station,

Liu Xia was sitting in a wheelchair rented from the hospital, while Bai Fei was sitting quietly on a chair beside her. Opposite her sat two policemen, a man and a woman, who were taking statements with their heads down.

There was hot water in a disposable paper cup in front of the two people, and a camera was standing next to them with a slightly flashing red light.

"I'm criminal policeman Chen Yu. You reported that your cousin Liu Feng hired someone to kill someone. Do you have any concrete evidence?" Chen Yu, an older middle-aged male policeman, put down his pen with a scrutinizing look in his eyes.

Liu Xia said, "When I had the accident, I saw Liu Feng watching from the side of the road. You can check the surveillance footage at the intersection."

Chen Yu nodded, seemingly unsurprised. He took a photo from the evidence bag and handed it to Liu Xia, saying, "Actually, sanitation workers found Liu Feng's body on the bank of Jingjiang River this evening. The autopsy showed he died around 1:30 PM on July 16th."

Liu Xia looked at Bai Fei in surprise, then reached out to take the photo and whispered, "Liu Feng is dead?!"

"Around 1:30 p.m.... In other words, he died not long after he sent that text message to Feifei!"

Liu Xia didn't say anything, his eyes were slightly gloomy as he thought about something in his heart.

"When the deceased was found, one arm was broken, and the face, abdomen, and other soft tissues were swollen from absorbing water. However, the cause of death was not excessive blood loss. A forensic examination confirmed that the cause of death was cyanide poisoning. A needle hole was found on the back of the deceased's neck, and ether residue was detected in his body, indicating that he was anesthetized and injected with poison before being dumped."

The policewoman flipped through the files in her hand and pointed her finger at a record in Liu Feng's phone address book: "The owner of the phone with the last number 9573 is the truck driver who hit you."

Chen Yu continued, "We checked the truck driver's bank account, and he did receive a large sum of money. Unfortunately, the driver died at the scene of the accident, so we can't find any more information. So your guess is correct. It's just that the data on Liu Feng's phone has been formatted, so we can't find any more information about his death at the moment."

Bai Fei, who had been sitting quietly beside Liu Xia, asked, "Doesn't Liu Feng's phone have a cloud backup?"
