"boom!!!"
The mutant crocodile's body suddenly exploded from the inside, and blood and flesh fragments flew everywhere like a rainstorm. Song Xuan and Ghost were the closest to it, and were the first to be blown away by the shock wave. They crashed into the protective pillar and fell to their knees on the ground, vomiting blood foam.
Scarhead, who was a little further away, was in relatively better condition. He was sitting on the ground and laughing wildly. His laughter caused the wound in his abdomen to cough up a large amount of internal organs. "That's fucking awesome!"
When the smoke and dust cleared, a huge charred crater was blown out of the entire metal platform.
The host was silent for two seconds, then erupted in an unprecedented scream: "Congratulations to the three survivors. The organizing committee will later evaluate the damage caused by the pollutants to determine which lucky winner will possess this 'perpetual motion heart.'"
"Of course..." The host suddenly lowered his voice, "If the contestant can walk out of the medical room alive!"
Deafening cheers erupted from the audience. Liu Xia tightly gripped the guardrail with both hands, staring at Song Xuan, who was lying in a pool of blood, almost unable to move, and followed him as he slowly sank from the metal platform.
The purple-highlighted hair was slightly swayed by the wind from the bottom, just like when the two first met.
Liu Xia looked at Song Xuan lying in a pool of blood with a heavy face. The mechanical prosthesis on the right side of his body had been blown off, and small electric sparks were still coming out of the broken surface from time to time. He felt mixed emotions and felt very uncomfortable.
"Why do you have to go to this extent..."
The cheers from the audience surged like a tidal wave, but Liu Xia only felt tinnitus and a sudden dull pain in his chest.
The metal joint that once worked perfectly has now become a hideous wreck, reflecting a cold light in the pool of blood.
Even though she had told him that she was not the original Liu Xia, Song Xuan still fought so hard for his promise to her.
The big screen was replaying the slow-motion footage of Song Xuan inserting his prosthetic limb into the wound on the mutant crocodile's back. The director even gave a gorgeous close-up of the broken metal section.
Liu Xia suddenly covered her forehead in pain. The dull pain made her frown tightly, as if there was an invisible hand inside her head that was constantly pulling at her brain.
I couldn't help but think of that rainy day. The wound on Xiao Songxuan's palm appeared clearly in front of my eyes, and the crack looked so hideous in my memory.
Liu Xia's temples were throbbing. Enduring the pain, she grabbed the arm of the spectator next to her, her fingertips almost sinking into the other person's protective suit. "Medical room, where is the medical room for the injured players?!"
The man who was caught was startled and shook her hand off in pain: "Psycho! Who cares where those guys are sent... What are you..."
Before he could finish, Liu Xia rushed down the stairs, rubbing his forehead, and had no time to argue with the other party.
It was not until the third friendly-looking female audience member was asked that the answer he wanted to know was obtained.
"Don't be afraid, little girl..." The middle-aged woman wearing brown glasses held her hand, and the mechanical prosthetic eye hidden behind the lens flashed a red light.
She gently patted the back of Liu Xia's hand and soothed her, "Are there any of your friends or relatives among the contestants? Don't worry, little girl. The contestants will be sent to a special medical cabin for treatment. Non-staff members are not allowed to enter. Go home and wait in peace."
Liu Xia thanked him, and the splitting headache had subsided. She calmed herself and squeezed through the reveling crowd, her mind full of the image of Song Xuan lying in a pool of blood.
The lights in the auditorium were still off, only the bright light on the metal platform in the center of the venue was on, so that the audience could focus all their attention on the battle.
"Ladies and gentlemen!!!" The host, who had only been heard but not seen since the beginning of the battle, slowly rose from the bottom of the platform and gestured excitedly towards the big screen. The metal protective pillars on the field lowered as the sound came.
The images of Song Xuan, Scarhead, and Ghost appeared on the big screen again, and the golden frame representing victory kept jumping on the screen where the three people were.
"After the organizing committee's urgent calculations, the results are in! The final winner of this competition, the contestant who obtains the 'Perpetual Heart', is..."
The host paused, as if to attract the audience's attention: "'Mad Dog' Scarhead!!! Let's congratulate him!!!"
The golden frame stopped on Scarhead's picture as the result was announced, and the pictures of the other two contestants went dark.
Those in the audience who were still paying attention to the results began to discuss the matter. Anyone with a discerning eye could see that it was Song Xuan who had caused the most damage to the mutant crocodile. So why was Scarhead the final winner?
"What the hell?! Purple Hand's damage is almost twice that of Scarhead!" A man wearing data analysis goggles slammed his chair and stood up. The numbers on the holographic projection flashed wildly. "Isn't this a fucking conspiracy?!"
"You know shit!" The woman next to him shook her head regretfully. "That guy called Purple Hand might be dead already..."
Liu Xia stared at the frozen image on the big screen and fell into deep thought. His mind was buzzing. He had to confirm whether Song Xuan was still alive!
"Of course, other participants will also receive corresponding compensation rewards. Let us once again thank the Leviathan organizing committee for their strong support!"
People in the audience stood up one after another, and like a group of silent ghosts under the dim lights, they skillfully avoided the overturned drink cups and scattered cheering sticks, and walked out of the venue in the dark. It was obvious that they had no interest in what happened next.
Those who left early were old audience members who knew that the real performance tonight was over.
Most of them were civilians wearing prosthetic limbs for work. Having achieved their purpose of having fun here, they all walked out of the venue with satisfied smiles on their faces, looking for the next entertainment activity that could bring them happiness.
The huge crater on the metal platform caused by the explosion was slowly closing. Liu Xia followed the spectators walking out to the edge of the platform, keeping an eye on the "Leviathan" guards who were maintaining order.
The City of Black Gold is not like those scattered bandits in the garbage dump. Liu Xia knows in his heart that he cannot act too radically. If he goes up and crushes the guard's head as he did before, it will probably cause a manhunt by the whole city.
As the host's voice faded, the lights in the center of the stage dimmed with a 'click', while the lights in the auditorium all lit up, and melodious music began to play in the venue.
At this moment, Liu Xia pounced forward like a cheetah ready to pounce. In a few flashes, his nimble body had accurately slid into the blasting pit that had closed to the size of a metal plate.
When the lights came on again a few seconds later, the metal platform was already empty except for the deep pit that was still closing.
Even the guards who were maintaining order didn't notice that someone had just sneaked in.
