Threaten me?
Squinting her eyes and looking up at the dilapidated yellow-brown building, Liu Xia saw a lens with a white light flash by. It was the lens of a telephoto telescope. Someone upstairs was using the telescope to observe her movements.
"It seems I have found the place." Liu Xia lowered his head and pretended not to notice anything, thinking to himself.
Liu Xia didn't hesitate, climbing the stairs two at a time, following the floor number the kidnappers provided. The unfinished building was nearly forty stories high, and the kidnappers were on the top floor. There was no way an elevator was available in such a building, so he could only climb slowly up via the 11th Road.
The dust mixed with the smell of dampness made Liu Xia feel as if he had returned to the Colosseum in the wasteland world for no reason. The air there was also filled with this smell all year round, but there was less of a hint of blood here.
When Liu Xia climbed up from the first floor to the 40th floor with a wary look on his face, he saw a man wearing a black coat and an Ultraman mask on his head standing not far from the stairs, holding a pistol in his hand and pointing it straight at Liu Xia.
There was another kidnapper behind the Ultraman kidnapper, but he was wearing the monster's mask, had a burly figure and was dressed in black. He had a bandage on his arm hanging around his neck, and in his uninjured hand he was holding a dagger that was flashing with a cold light and pointing it at the hostage.
A woman with a black cloth bag on her head was lying at his feet. Judging from her figure and the dirty denim jacket she was wearing, it should be Bai Fei.
I don’t know if he was drugged or what, but he is still in a coma.
Liu Xia had already recognized the injured man as the one who attacked them in the old house.
"I have to make sure Feifei is okay." Liu Xia panted slightly, put his hand into his trouser pocket, as if grabbing something long, tilted his head to look into the eyes of the Ultraman kidnapper, "I will give the thing to you."
"She's fine. She just took a few harmless sleeping pills. We don't want to cause any trouble."
The Ultraman kidnapper's voice was still processed by some kind of instrument, so muffled that the original tone could not be heard. He pointed the gun at Liu Xia and shook it threateningly, "Give the things to us, and you and her will be safe."
"Threatening me?" Liu Xia narrowed her eyes. "I want to see Feifei's condition with my own eyes."
"I hope you understand the principle of being guilty of possessing a treasure."
Ultraman Mask was certain that he had the hostage in his hands. Liu Xia couldn't do anything to him. Although he had a weapon, he was still a little worried about her method of causing Tu Wu to get hurt. So he pretended to be kind and waved his hand: "Old Five, take off the mask of that girl."
Tu Wu, who was wearing a monster mask, snorted coldly and muttered something impatiently, but still obediently lifted the black mask covering Bai Fei's head, tapped Bai Fei's face with the dagger, raised his head and tilted it to look at Liu Xia provocatively.
Tu Wu still resented the blow Liu Xia gave him on the arm. If Chen Mingyuan had not insisted on getting the USB drive first, he would probably rush up and break Liu Xia's neck.
The skin on Bai Fei's face was a sickly pale color, and her long black hair was a little messy and stuck to her face because she was wearing a mask. Through the light, one could see dust on the tip of her nose being raised by her breathing. Her eyelids moved slightly, and it seemed that she had woken up a little because of the light.
Seeing that his friend was indeed safe, Liu Xia finally breathed a sigh of relief. He then turned to look at the Ultraman mask again. He changed his pretense of being out of breath from climbing the stairs and stood up straight, walking forward and saying, "Doctor Chen, do you know the origin of the blue badge?"
Chen Mingyuan froze slightly when his identity was revealed, as if he was attracted by Liu Xia's eyes. It took him a second to react and he suddenly shouted, "Stop! Don't go any further! I don't understand what you are saying!"
"Let's be frank. Who is your employer? What do you do? What does my cousin Liu Feng have to do with you? What does he have to do with the Blue Badge?"
Liu Xia continued to walk forward, intensifying the emotional manipulation he had just used, and continued to ask in a gentle and persuasive manner, "Tell me the truth. Since you have been treating me for so long, I may consider showing mercy and sparing your life."
Chen Mingyuan's eyes gradually became dull, and he stared at Liu Xia who was getting closer and closer without blinking, and began to mutter uncontrollably.
"Our employer... he's a foreigner. I don't know his name. We communicated via phone. We received a two million yuan advance payment. He told us to hand over the 'brain domain source code' to him, and he would give us the remaining eight million yuan."
"Liu Feng... I promised to give that gambler Liu Feng one million to pay off his debts, as long as he could help find the source code. But he never found it, and he was even murdered. So I had no choice but to do it myself."
"The Blue Badge... I don't know what a Blue Badge is."
Chen Mingyuan answered Liu Xia's questions haltingly. One could feel that he was very reluctant to reveal who his employer was, but he had to say it as if he was possessed.
"Ten million?" Liu Xia couldn't help but laugh out loud. "This damn source code that caused her so much trouble is actually worth that much?"
It seems that Chen Mingyuan and Blue Badge are not the same organization. Dr. Chen was hired by a handsome Chinese named Luke, and the group of people who turned the old house into a mess mostly belonged to Blue Badge.
The identity of cousin Liu Feng is very strange. He seems to have connections with both Dr. Chen and the Blue Badge Organization. Could it be that he is a double-edged swordsman?
"Old Chen, what are you doing?" Tu Wu didn't know that Chen Mingyuan had been bewitched by Liu Xia. Seeing Liu Xia getting closer and closer, he didn't know what to do. One of his hands was disabled and couldn't move. He could only point the dagger in his hand slightly at Liu Xia and shouted angrily, "Little girl, no matter what you are doing, stop it immediately!"
Liu Xia stared closely into Chen Mingyuan's eyes, her voice almost devoid of any emotion. "It seems your friend isn't very cooperative. Tell him to shut up."
Tu Wu stared at the muzzle of Chen Mingyuan's gun as he slowly raised it. His Adam's apple rolled over, and his voice trembled with disbelief: "Old Chen...are you fucking crazy?!"
The sharp blade of the dagger tried to press against Bai Fei's neck again, but before he could do so, a hard stone that had been in Liu Xia's palm hit his wrist.
The intense pain made Tu Wu unable to help but roar. The dagger slipped from his fingers and hit the ground with a crisp metal collision sound. Blood flowed down the wound on his wrist.
Chen Mingyuan's eyes were terrifyingly empty, as if his soul had been sucked away by some invisible force. His finger was on the trigger, his movements were stiff but precise, and the muzzle of the gun was steadily aimed at Tu Wu's eyebrows.
The gunshots exploded in the enclosed space, causing pain in the eardrums.
"Old Chen! Wake up..." Tu Wu's words stopped abruptly, his expression frozen between astonishment and confusion. A black hole appeared on his forehead, blood splattered on the wall behind him, and the rotational force of the bullet blew a fist-sized blood hole in the back of his head.
His body shook, and then he fell to the ground with a bang, raising a cloud of dust and waking up Bai Fei, who was already showing signs of waking up.
Bai Fei's face was pale and her breathing almost stopped. She stared at Tu Wu, who was wearing a monster mask and died beside her, and a trembling sound came out of her throat.
The corners of Liu Xia's lips curled up slightly, but her eyes were as cold as ice. She gently patted Chen Mingyuan's shoulder, and her tone was so gentle that it was almost weird: "Well done."
Chen Mingyuan's finger was still on the trigger. His breathing was shallow and his eyes were unfocused, like a puppet being manipulated, as if he himself didn't even know what he had just done.
