Fifteen minutes ago, at the 79th World Science Fiction Convention held in Washington, after fierce competition, the Chinese Chengdu delegation defeated its competitor, the Canadian city of Winnipeg, and successfully won the right to host the 81st World Science Fiction Convention in 2023.
The World Science Fiction Convention is the highest-level and largest science fiction event in the world. The Hugo Awards are also presented at the convention. Chengdu will become the second city in Asia to host the World Science Fiction Convention after Yokohama, Japan.
