Chapter 134 My Name is Lei Feng

Hua Mei's head also tilted towards Hua Hua.

It feels so good to be next to Mom; no wonder Fang Yu and her mother like being so close. "Mom, do you want to go to the city?"

Hua Mei's eyes lingered for a moment, then she shook her head.

Fang Huahua picked up Hua Mei's hand, which was covered with rough calluses from years of working.

She looked out at the fields in the distance, the wind swirling withered grass across the ridges, and a sudden pang of sadness welled up in her heart.

Yu Jihong went out to play with Fang Yu for two days. Thinking that the shop could sell some money if it was open, she opened it again. However, during the first few days of the Lunar New Year, she opened the shop later in the morning and closed it earlier in the evening to go home and cook dinner.

The shop wasn't as busy as it was before the Lunar New Year. Fang Yu stayed home alone watching TV all morning. She went to the balcony to stretch and look into the distance. She was so tired of watching TV that she didn't want to watch anymore. Should she go out and play?

Where to go? An internet cafe? I've been busy at the shop all year and haven't been there.

Why did I go to the internet cafe? At first, it was to chat with Fang Dongqiang, but later I found that these websites were okay to browse.

Now, Fang Dongqiang wouldn't be going online in the countryside, and there was also Thor, who left so many messages for her. Fang Yu smiled; he was quite an interesting person.

Having not visited for so long, would she still leave her a message? Fang Yu thought about going to check, put on her coat and went out. After Lei Shen told her about the last internet cafe, she stopped going there. As for the other internet cafes, Fang Yu recalled what Lei Shen had told her about and chose one that was closer to her home.

After logging in, I saw a message from Thor: "Baby Fish, a new internet cafe recently opened, and the environment is pretty good." He also sent me the address.

Thor's profile picture was in color. Upon seeing Fang Yu log in, he immediately sent a message: "Happy New Year, Fish Baby!"

"Happy New Year!" Fang Yu replied.

Where are you using the internet right now?

Fang Yu thought about what he looked like the day she saw him, looked up and scanned the internet cafe, but he wasn't there.

Fang Yu replied with a vague answer: "Internet cafe."

"I know you're at an internet cafe, Fish Baby. Which internet cafe are you at?"

Fang Yu stared at the screen, thought for a moment, and decided not to tell him. He hadn't told her he was right next to her either. If it weren't for the fact that he had something to say to her, she probably wouldn't know until now.

Fang Yu didn't say anything, and he didn't ask any further questions. This actually gave Fang Yu a good impression of him, and she enjoyed chatting with him quite a bit.

When chatting with Fang Dongqiang, Fang Dongqiang only talked and didn't address Fang Yu by her online name. This "Thunder God" kept calling her "Fish Baby" all the time, which made Fang Yu feel very embarrassed.

"My name is Fang Yu."

"Okay, I know your name, Baby Fish."

Fang Yu frowned, looking at the chat history and realizing she hadn't explained herself clearly. "What I meant was, just call me Fang Yu, no need to call me Fish Baby."

"I've called you Fish Baby from the beginning, it's a habit. Let me continue calling you that, okay? Fish Baby." Thor's tone seemed to carry a hint of coquetry.

"May I have your name?"

"Don't laugh when I tell you!"

Fang Yu became curious. What kind of name would make people laugh? Fang Yu sat up straight and replied to the message, "Okay, I won't laugh."

After a while, his reply appeared on the screen: "My name is Lei Feng."

Fang Yu burst out laughing when she saw this, bending over and pressing her mouth to the back of her hand, still unable to stop laughing.

"Did you laugh?" Thor sent another message.

Fang Yu replied to the message with a smile, "Have you learned from Lei Feng's spirit?"

"I've learned something. If you have any difficulties, just tell me, and I'll definitely help you."

"Okay, Comrade Lei Feng. You've already helped me once."

Fang Yu checked the time and realized it was time to go home. She said goodbye to Lei Feng and headed home.

"Baby Fish, do you have any other ways to contact me? Sometimes it's hard to find each other online."

"Leave a message if you need anything." Fang Yu didn't give him her number. Although they were having a good chat, she was still a little wary.

Fang Huahua came to the county town after the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, hoping to find a new job.

Fang Yu was waiting for her at home. Fang Huahua was carrying a snakeskin bag containing cabbage, radishes, scallions, and a bag of dried green beans that she had just picked from the field that morning.

"Hua Hua, you brought so much stuff?"

"Don't be disgusted, these are all from our own home. You have to buy all kinds of vegetables here."

"Your visit these past few days is perfect. I haven't started work yet, so let's look for a job together."

Fang Huahua nodded, put the snakeskin bag aside, and looked at the unfamiliar yet somewhat familiar house, feeling much more at ease.

Fang Yu poured Fang Huahua a glass of water. "Fang Yu, I saw Fang Dongqiang at home during the first month of the lunar calendar."

Fang Yu handed the teacup to Fang Huahua, saying casually, "Be careful, it's still a bit hot. We're from the same village, we're bound to run into each other."

Fang Huahua watched Fang Yu take the cup and said, "Fang Yu, I feel that you are not as interested in Fang Dongqiang as before."

Fang Yu chuckled. "Hua Hua, are you interested in the word you used?"

"Yes! I don't like talking about him as much as I used to."

"Yeah, I haven't talked to him much lately!"

"Is there still a chance for you two?"

Fang Yu sat down next to Hua Hua, hugging a cushion and resting her chin on the edge of it. She smiled and said, "I don't know! I don't think so!"

"Have you taken a fancy to someone else?" Fang Huahua took a sip of water.

"No!" "Huahua, have you met any boys who really care about you at work?"

Fang Huahua shook her head. "No."

"Apart from a few chefs, everyone in your area is an auntie or older woman. Oh, are you looking for a restaurant job again this year?"

"Anything I can do, as long as the pay is a little higher."

Fang Yu and Fang Huahua went out onto the street and crowded around to look at the job postings.

"Can I sell clothes?" Fang Yu asked.

“Selling clothes is out of the question. I’m not that good-looking, and I’m not fashionable either.” Fang Huahua looked at the doorway but didn’t go in.

"What's wrong with you? It's not like you're in a beauty pageant. Selling clothes doesn't require as much work as you do in a restaurant."

Fang Huahua glanced at the sales clerks inside, enthusiastically greeting customers, and said, "Oh well, never mind. I'll go look somewhere else."

A colorful poster was displayed at the entrance of the supermarket: "Cashier Wanted. High school diploma or above required. Experienced candidates preferred."

Fang Huahua's heart leaped into her throat. She didn't have a high school diploma.

Fang Yu noticed Hua Hua's embarrassment and said, "Let's go, there are still so many places we haven't seen yet."

They strolled slowly along the street, passing a grandly decorated restaurant with the three gilded characters "Jufulou" gleaming brightly. A job posting at the entrance read: "Seeking several waitstaff. Requirements: upright character, quick and efficient, hardworking." No educational requirements were listed.

“These places still suit me best.” She took a deep breath.
