Chapter 72 Raising them resulted in raising a bunch of ancestors?

No one expected that it was Zhong Yan who brought the person over.

To be precise, it was stolen.

This was all because Zhong Yan and Chu He encountered several black cars on their way here.

Those cars were so neatly arranged; they all drove the same road and were parked in front of the Ji Family Ancestral Hall.

Even her father isn't protected like this when he goes out.

At first, Zhong Yan didn't take it seriously, but when his car was forced to stop, that was a different story.

Chu He turned to look at Zhong Yan, whose voice was calm: "Go out and take a look."

Chu He got out of the car and knocked on the door. A burly man put his hands on the car frame and said, "Buddy, we have to obey the traffic rules."

The driver said impatiently, "Do you know who's in my car? You can't afford the consequences if something happens."

Chu He chuckled: "Who is it? Let me see. Who is this important person?"

He bent down, grinned, and said, "Let me see too."

The man's demeanor turned fierce; his smile didn't reach his eyes. There was an assassin. The driver's eyes widened with wariness as he looked at the car, which resembled a Mercedes-Benz van.

Looking ahead, as they approached the Ji family ancestral hall, he tentatively asked, "Are you also from the Ji family?"

Chu He grasped the meaning of the word "also," indicating that the people in front of him belonged to the Ji family.

Chu He thought about his own status, and since he was a young master, he should be considered one as well. After a moment of consideration, he said, "Half of them, to pay respects to our ancestors."

The driver frowned. "Half? What does that mean?"

The two had been standing there for too long when another man in black, wearing sunglasses, got out of the car behind them. His tone was unfriendly as he asked, "What are you doing? Aren't you leaving?"

The driver, who was chatting with Chu He, leaned out of the car window. Without answering the man in black, he continued to say to Chu He, "You're only half a man. The person sitting inside is Chairman Ji's son."

"Can you give in now?"

Upon hearing this, Chu He straightened up. "Doesn't the Ji family only have one daughter? Where did this son come from? You're trying to fool me."

"You'll find out soon enough," the driver said.

Chu He turned around and looked at the car window, which was half-lowered, so he could only see Zhong Yan's features.

Zhong Yan nodded.

Chu He nodded, then put his arm around the shoulder of the man who got out of the car: "Buddy, we're all from the Ji family, so let's not be so formal. The man in my car is Chairman Ji's son-in-law, who is the brother-in-law of Chairman Ji's son. Can we meet your son-in-law?"

The two were like close brothers, their arms around each other's shoulders, but the dark-skinned man being held by Chu He clearly felt a gun barrel pressed against his waist.

It was cold and intimidating, inspiring inexplicable fear.

"Who do you say you are? From the Zhong family?"

Chu He raised an eyebrow. "I guess so, but now, we belong to the Ji family, to Chairman Ji's daughter."

Zhong Yan waited for a while, and then saw the man who was supposedly Ji Tanyuan's brother from inside the car.

He was about 180 cm tall, wore glasses, and didn't resemble Ji Tanyuan, but looked a lot like their father, though he was somewhat timid.

Zhong Yan nodded. "Mr. Ji?"

Ji Zhihe felt a sense of pressure for no apparent reason. The man in front of him was clearly relaxed, yet he exuded an aura of dominance, a sense of looking down from above. The first person to give him this feeling was the young master of the Shen family.

He swallowed hard. "Yes, you're my sister's husband?"

Zhong Yan smiled and said, "Yes, you're going to the ancestral hall, right? I'll give you a ride; it's on the way."

Ji Zhihe felt a lump in his throat. It was clearly his bodyguard who had coerced and lured him here.

How can they make it sound so plausible that the kidnapping was just along the way?

Actually, the car was parked not far from the Ji family ancestral hall, but Chu He drove extremely slowly, making it easier for his young master to ask questions.

Even after arriving at their destination, Zhong Yan couldn't get any information out of him because the person next to him was pretending to be mute.

Actually, this is the best answer. Isn't the fact that they "keep quiet for fear of being exposed" the best flaw?

Chu He got out of the car and opened the door for him. Zhong Yan looked up at the plaque in front of him: Ji Family.

The fact that Ji Qing designated a plot of land in the prime location of Shanghai to build an ancestral hall demonstrates the importance he placed on his clan.

However, Ji Qing adopts a hands-off approach towards his daughter, either letting her fight against Ji Ting and then having his son take over when they are exhausted, or letting his daughter gain experience points.

But if it's the latter, will their attitude change after their son appears?

Zhong Yan walked inside, turning back to look at the hesitant people, as if they were waiting for someone.

So he said, "Let's go in, your uncle must be getting impatient."

We were hoping you would retaliate.

I wonder what Ji Tanyuan's expression will be when she sees that it was him who brought the person there.

Upon entering, drawing everyone's attention, Zhong Yan made way for them, chuckled, and spoke. His suit was impeccably tailored, his handsome features and refined demeanor made him appear as if he were in his own home.

"Don't just look at me, look at the main character."

Ji Ting was shocked, "How did you all come together?"

"We met them on the road and brought them here."

Ji Tanyuan kept staring at the older brother. "The paternity test has been done?"

Ji Ting snorted coldly, "Of course I did it! Otherwise, how could I be sure?"

Ji Tanyuan looked at her father, Ji Qing, who showed neither shock nor excitement.

Suddenly, Ji Zhihe knelt down in front of Ji Qing with a thud, tears streaming down his face: "Dad! It's your unfilial son who's late."

Zhong Yan leaned against the door, not looking at the kneeling person, but watching Ji Tanyuan's reaction.

Ji Tanyuan's eyes showed no emotion, nor any excitement at seeing her older brother.

It seems his wife isn't looking forward to her brother's return.

Ji Qing looked down at the man who was supposedly his son; he did bear a slight resemblance to him.

"Do you still remember anything from before you were ten years old?" Ji Qing asked.

Ji Zhihe shook his head: "I woke up with amnesia, I don't remember anything."

Looking at Ji Tanyuan's expressionless face, Ji Ting was certain that she was terrified. He snorted coldly, "Now he is the most reasonable heir to the Ji family, isn't he? After all, Tanyuan is married out, how could she possibly be involved in every aspect of the Ji family's affairs?"

Ji Tanyuan sat back, crossing her legs, showing a clear intention to fight to the bitter end:

"That's not right. I don't get involved in the Ji family's affairs, but the group isn't a family matter. Even if we're talking about the inheritance of the group, it belongs to our family, to me and my father. Uncle, you're the outsider."

“I think some of you have the wrong idea. It’s the Ji Group that’s supporting the ancestral hall, not the clan that’s supporting the Ji family. How come my father ended up raising a bunch of ancestors?”

With just a few words, Ji Tanyuan reversed the roles, sitting there as if she were the head of the family.

Ji Ting's eyes reddened with anger. "Guards, throw her out of here!"

Zhong Yan: "Isn't this ancestral hall an illegal building?"

He interrupted Ji Ting, looking down at the ring without raising his head: "Uncle, you need to think this through. If you kick us out, this place will collapse too."

Ji Qing said in a deep voice, "Enough, all of you shut up."

He took a deep breath and said to Ji Zhihe, who had been kneeling silently, "You're back, and you still claim to be my son. Then go and get a paternity test done with Sheng Wan. If you are Huanghuang's biological brother, I'll acknowledge you. If not..."

At this point, Ji Qing closed his eyes, as if he could no longer continue.

If it really is his illegitimate child, he wouldn't even know when he cheated on his wife, and once it's confirmed that it's an illegitimate child, Sheng Wan will definitely divorce him.

But if he wasn't an illegitimate child, then why would Sheng Wan kill her own son?
